Swainswood Park is a superb base for exploring the huge array of things to see and do the region. Family attractions are plentiful and include the thrilling Alton Towers and Drayton Manor theme parks and the exciting Snowdome with its indoor slope, ice rink and tobogganing track. There are also many picturesque towns and villages to visit and the area is home to several world class golf courses.
Wonderful countryside walks together with boundless opportunities for cycling, fishing wildlife-watching and a host of outdoor pursuits are all available in the area, or you can simply relax with a therapeutic spa or beauty treatment in your lodge. Accommodation is in stylish lodges. All were new in 2007 and have well equipped kitchens with dishwashers as well as some outside space where you can relax and enjoy a drink. The Woodland View Executive lodge is top of the range and offers luxurious and spacious accommodation with private outdoor hot tub. The Woodland View Lodge has two bedrooms and some have hot tubs set in woodland. The Ash lodge is also spacious and luxurious with two bedrooms and utility room with washer dryer as well as an outdoor hot tub.

Fun Days Out in Derbyshire

This unique farm makes a great day out for families with young children and also couples who enjoy getting out and exploring. With an array of farm animals including goats, pigs and sheep this farm is a popular attraction in the Etwall area of Derbyshire. Apart from the animals there are fun activities to take part in such as collecting and grading your own eggs and a hay play area for the little ones. The farm tea room serves drinks, cakes and light bites, the place to go when you are in need of a rest and a hot drink.

This is an all weather attraction located in Ilkeston Derbyshire. With a large play frame as well as bikes and ride on toys this is a fun place for young children. The toddler time sessions take place during term times on week days from 9.30am until 2.30pm and are very popular. The admission fee is excellent value for money and parents can sit down and enjoy a drink while the children play. A new baby changing facility has now been installed together with some new chairs making this a clean and welcoming attraction for families. Look out for offers on their website such as a free hot drink on select days. |

Gulliver's Kingdome is a family friendly theme park offering many attractions for children of all ages. The site is rather unique and features a huge array of rides including log flumes, roller coasters and pirate ships. For the little ones there are rides such as the veteran cars and the balloon wheel and Diego and Dora the Explorer are on hand to make sure they are having a great time. Between the 21st and 31st of October the park becomes a spooky Halloween spectacular with a range of shows and fireworks to enjoy. Standard prices are £12.00 for adults and children over 90cm. Group booking discounts are available.
