Surrounded by the beautiful Shropshire countryside, Wigmore Lakes Lodges is a peaceful setting with two delightful fishing lakes and some lovely walks right outside your door. It's close to the medieval town of Shrewsbury with its timber-framed buildings and great selection of restaurants and shops.

As well as fishing and a multitude of wildlife to watch, Wigmore Lakes Lodges is a good base from which to explore Shropshire. There's an incredible 32 castles in the county and nearby Ironbridge has ten museums, including the Blists Hill Open Air Museum where the staff wear Victorian dress. Ludlow is well known for its castle and its many eateries, including two Michelin starred restaurants.

All the lodges have patio doors that lead to a decking area with a private outdoor hot tub. Oxmoor Lodge is a stylish and luxurious lodge for six people; it has a master double bedroom with ensuite shower and one twin room. There's also a flat screen TV with Freeview and DVD player.

The golf course at Welshpool caters for all levels and abilities and has some breathtaking views; the beautiful peak of Snowdonia towers over it. You could go riding at Springhill Farm in Oswestry.

Our Top Tip
"Head to the Old Vicarage Adventure Centre, near Cleobury Mortimer, to try your hand at shooting, canoeing or horse trekking."

Stayed at Wigmore before and would stay again. The lodges are spacious and not too crowded together. They are set in very pleasant countryside and conveniently psitioned for places lie Shrewsbury and various castles and country houses. The hot tub was large and just right for a cold weather break. Overall really lovely
