Gwel an Mor translates as 'view of the sea' and this name is very fitting given the breathtaking views from the site. Perched high on a hilltop just a few minutes from the beach, this fantastic setting will appeal to families and couples alike. The site has outstanding facilities and was voted one of the top ten coastal holidays by the Guardian in 2008.
Onsite guests can enjoy use of a lovely heated indoor heated swimming pool together with jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. There is also a beauty therapy suite offering a range of traditional and more holistic treatments. Outside you can enjoy the putting green or a game of croquet. On an evening the elegant restaurant serves fresh local food while close by the fishing village of Portreath offers a larger choice of places to eat.
There's plenty to see and do in the area too. Whether you prefer surfing, building sandcastles or simply admiring the breathtaking views from the coastal path - Gwel an Mor is a great place to relax and unwind.
There are five types of lodge at Gwel an Mor, so there is bound to be something to suit your needs. The Lowena are luxury terraced lodges with two bedrooms and large kitchen/ dining areas with sea views. The Tregar VIP lodges are luxurious two storey lodges with stylish interiors and three bedrooms as well as extras including wood burning stove, bath robes and private hot tubs.

Family with 2 young kids.We had a fantastic holiday!
We made use of the swimming pool, restaurant, soft play centre, and the farm at the resort.
The pool temperature was just right ( not cold at all).
The restaurant was very accommodating! We rang up the day we arrived and asked to book a table ( with very short notice) and luckily they managed to squeeze us in.
A few nights later we had a take away which was very tasty.
The soft play centre was great, both boys enjoyed it! We didnt have food there but my in laws who where also on holiday had breakfast and the veggie sausages did look seriously good!
The meet the animals tour was just simply amazing!

Because I am nearly 80 I found that the steps up to the Lodge were difficult because of no handrail. Also the sofa was a bit too low or me, but there were plenty on cushions for me
to use.
We found that there were a lot of dogs around, a lot were not on leads and were running all over, also we saw a lot of dogs mess that had not been cleaned up. This might not have been
dog owners on the site, but dog owners on the site also had dogs running loose. This is very dangerous or young children.

The lodge was very well presented, complete with christmas tree, card and presents. The kitchen area is perfect for self catering. The bedrooms and bed linen were lovely and the heating had been turned on to anticipate our arrival.
Only comment I would make would be in relation to the shower heads and hoses in both the en suite and bathroom. They both leaked quite badly and need replacing.

We have been going here for the last five years, all our various young foster children have absolutely loved it, as have we. It's a peaceful quiet site, with every lodge having a sea view, and non commercialised, which we also love. Lodges are two levels, with that wonderful smell of pine, very comfy & cosy, equipped with all you need!!! Just a slight negative, cleanliness wasn't as tip top this occasion. Observed a lot of dirt dust down beside beside tables, and behind bed, etc. A bit concerning too, was one of those little white pest control box's under the bed, up by the headboard!!!

The accommodation is very homely and comfortable with heating that is very efficient. The leisure suite pool is rather small and was always full of families with young children so it would be good if there could be an adults only slot daily. Good walks from the resort and portreath is easily reached without going on the main road.

Excellent, would definitely recommend to both couples and families with young children. We visited as a family of 3, child aged 1. The Lodge was fully equipped and to a very high standard. We will definitely stay again in the futur.

Fun Days Out near Landal Gwel an Mor
The Rock Gardens, Caves and Nursery - about 7 Miles
The Rock Gardens Caves and Nursery have an amazing setting in the old Palace Quarry. The gardens offer an abundance of trees, plants and floral displays including a very grand 80ft Elm Tree and a stunning Weeping Ash. The site also offers a large carp pond, a breathtaking illuminated cave and a tea room serving tasty local produce.
Paradise Park - about 8 Miles
Paradise Park first opened its doors in Cornwall in 1973 and has been one of the regions top attractions ever since. What was once just a tropical bird garden is now a refuge for many different species of animal and aims to be educational as well as fun for its visitors. The inhabitants include some typical UK creatures including Otters, and Red Squirrels as well as some more unusual and rare animals including Red Pandas. Younger children will enjoy meeting the friendly animals in the farm area. The site has recently been extended and now also has a fantastic Jungle Barn where kids can let of steam.
Holywell Bay Fun Park - about 11 Miles
Holywell Bay Fun Park has been one of South Cornwall's most popular attractions for many years and features a good range of rides for children of all ages. As well as fairground rides and Go- Karts there are plenty of places for family fun including the Maze, Bumper Boats and Lazar Shooting area. If the weather is not great visitors can simply head inside as there are plenty of indoor activities including a large Soft Play Area and a thrilling Climbing Wall. With no entrance fee this park is a good budget friendly option too.
Flambards Experience Cornwall - about 11 Miles
A fantastic attraction with something for everyone. Combining rides, activities and exhibitions it's all here in the one place. Look out for seasonal events too such as the Fire in the Sky event on 27th October 2010 - discount advance tickets are available for most of the events so don't forget to check out their website. Some of the most popular thrill rides include the first Twisting Droptower in the UK called the Skyraker 001. The Hornert Rollercoaster is also not to be missed.
