Bulworthy Forest Lodges Reviews

"The cabin itself was clean. Surroundings were extremely peaceful. We will definitely go again. Signal was pretty bad, so WiFi was quite sporadic, which seemed to worsen more each day. People were friendly and staff were welcoming. Would have been nice to have a welcome basket, with some basic essentials such as, milk, bread, butter and some cereals. So that you don't have to rush out and buy such things when you get there."
Jackie - Jul 2022
"We had a fabulous time and would totally go again. The area is so so relaxing and peaceful and is close to beaches and shops (including a Tesco and Morrison's) which are around 15 minutes away by car. The only downside was my partner and his son were a little disappointed by the Carp fishing (although they spoke to the owner and she is aware the lakes need restocking)."
Christine - Jul 2022
"Fantastic just lacked a freezer. Great walks and friendly staff. Lots to do around and about. Good places to eat. Our dog really enjoyed the beaches near by"
Belinda - Jul 2022
"Bulworthy Forest is a beautiful peaceful setting, you truly are in the middle of a forest. We loved waking and hearing only birds & sheep and looking out at the beautiful surroundings. It is worth pointing out that the last approximately 2 miles to Bulworthy Forest is via very narrow lanes with high hedges or trees either side and probably not enough passing places. Also the site is quite steep so if you are above the lakes it is quite steep to walk. However we though this a price worth paying for the lovely accommodation and surroundings and would definitely book again."
Amanda - Jul 2022
"This is my second stay at the Kingfisher Lodge. It's a wonderful log cabin with plenty of room for a family. It has a great secluded position and is nestled into the woodland, beautiful spot! I would definitely recommend this lodge and will most definitely be back again."
Martine - Jun 2022
"The property was clean and had everything we needed. My husband enjoyed the fishing and it is certainly an away from it all break. The only slight negative is that the lodge is in a shaded spot with undergrowth up to the windows at the rear of the property."
Karen - Jun 2022
"Had a fabulous 4 nights in Larches for 4 adults and 2 dogs. The lodge was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. We made good use of the hot tub and bbq. Lovely to sit on the enclosed porch with the dogs while they were on squirrel watch. Lovely peaceful location with some nice forest walks. If you need Internet access, Larches has really good connection. The owner is lovely; very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the area; gave us some good tips on dog-friendly places to visit. Can't rate this place highly enough...bliss!"
Verified Guest - Jun 2022

Vanessa - May 2022
"Stayed in the Hideaway 3 nights, quite basic but comfortable and lovely view from veranda of Lake"
Sara - May 2022
"The lodge itself was clean and fresh with everything we could possibly need catered for.The lodge could benefit from a little updating as not quite as fresh and modern as the one we stayed in previously, but perfectly accommodating even so.And the beds are really comfy."
Sally - May 2022
"Rosebay is better than we expected, perfect for a quiet, relaxing week, we booked it again for september"
Rob - May 2022
"Nice lodges, lovely and relaxing."
Patricia - May 2022
"Can't wait to return"
Nicola - May 2022
"Wow stunning location. Quiet, tranquil, with beautiful rhododendrons. To sit & just listen to the birdsong & lambs, blissful. Pleasant walks around the forest and lakes. And the relaxing hot tub. Whats not to like! We stayed in Bluebell which was very spacious & cosy and everything you need. I only live 40 minutes away, but felt like I was holiday. Would I go again.... hell YES :)"
Marion - May 2022
"We had a great mini break and will definitely book Chestnut Lodge again"
Verified Guest - May 2022
"Bathroom and furniture very tired, a small shop would be very useful, as few miles to go for milk and essentials, lots of weeds and ivy growing all around lodge, but overall it is a peace and tranquil setting."
Gerard - May 2022
"The lodge was extremely spacious and well looked after. It was very clean and well equipped, everything you needed for a long weekend. It was also very warm and cosy in the evenings. The verandah at the front was gated, so the dogs couldn't escape and there was more than enough room in the lodge for 2 german shepherds to roam around. The hot tub was fantastic and although not working properly, we were informed by the maintenance man first thing in the morning which was much appreciated."
Claire - May 2022
"Very nice peaceful week, thoroughly enjoyed. Highly recommend if you are looking for peace and quiet."
Tony - Apr 2022
"the cabin is great warm and cosy"
Raymond - Apr 2022
"Highly recommend if your looking for a relaxing break"
Malcolm - Apr 2022
"The lodge was nice however we had multiple issues, none of which could be fixed during our stay which was disappointing, the steps outside the balcony came apart during our stay which is dangerous itself, the tumble dryer in the lodge didn't work but we were told there was one down by some of the other lodges that needed money putting in them. The hot tub was faulty 2 of the dials didn't work, 2 headrests were broken out of their socket so couldn't be adjusted, none of the jets worked at all for one of the seats, on the last night one of my guests caught their foot on one of the jets and cut it, turns out that there was one jet missing its surrounding and another missing part of its surrounding leaving a sharp bit there which my guests foot got caught on. Overall the stay wasn't terrible however the issues shouldn't have been there. A lodge for this kind of money should be kept maintained and checked so that this kind of thing doesn't happen, overall I'm rather disappointed with the stay due to the many issues we had."
Kaleb - Apr 2022
"We have Amazing holiday "
Inara - Apr 2022
"Perfect relaxing break. Lovely lodge in beautiful surroundings. Great place for dogs to enjoy their holiday too"
Claire - Apr 2022
"nice lodge.got everything you need."
Vanessa - Mar 2022
"Fabulous holiday. The staff were all very pleasant, friendly and welcoming."
Sarah - Mar 2022
"Feedback, would suggest some form of lighting on board names of the lodges. When arriving late at night in the dark we did find it a little difficult which one was ours. Some post lights along the route were not on or working."
Paul - Mar 2022
"The lodges was set in woodland surroundings with lakes opposite. The lodges accommodated for every need and was cozy. It was with easy reach to Westward Ho! Bideford and Instow. We only had a 4 night stay so this was plenty for us. Our 2 and a half year old absolutely loved it there. There's supermarkets within easy reach. The only downside for us is that the lodges are dog friendly and although we don't mind dogs (we're not dog owners) it did have a strong smell of dogs but this didn't affect our stay and self definitely love to return one day."
Emily - Mar 2022
"Lovely Lodge opposite the lake"
Denise - Mar 2022
"Wonderful relaxing and worth the money."
Debbie - Mar 2022
"Very nice lodge in a remote location but could do with a bit of TLC"
Richard - Dec 2021
"Went on my own, so having two bedrooms gave me plenty of space to spread out my stuff. All the facilities suited my needs perfectly and having all the utensils made it feel like a home from home. Being tucked away up a slight hill made the lodge feel really secluded, though this may cause a problem for someone with mobility issues or anyone with a heavy pushchair."
