Heathside Lodges in Suffolk will appeal to those looking for a peaceful base to explore the local area.  With a secluded setting these lodges have much to offer couples and families wanting a restful holiday but close enough to local towns should you want to get out and explore.  The market towns of Southwold, Aldeburgh and Walberswick are within reach for days out with a range of shops and restaurants.

The accommodation has been well designed and we like the Blyth Lodge for couples which sleeps 2 and comes with a private outdoor hot tub.  This lovely lodge also has mod cons including wifi access and flatscreen TV with freeview.  The spacious living area is ideal for relaxing and the french doors leading to the private decking are a nice touch.

The Waveney Lodge is slightly larger and sleeps 4 making it a good choice for both couples and families.  Brand new for 2011 this lodge is sure to be popular with a spacious open plan living area, private decking and outdoor hot tub.  All of the lodges are also double glazed making them a cosy choice even in the colder months. And of course the outdoor hot tub can be enjoyed in all weathers - even snow!

The Deben Lodge is also new for 2011 and is the largest of the lodges.  Sleeping 6 adults this is a spacious lodge with two double bedrooms and one twin.  One of the doubles has an en suite bathroom and there is also a family bathroom within the lodge.  With plenty of mod cons including microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer the Deben Lodge provides a comfortable base for your stay.  You will also enjoy use of your own private outdoor hot tub, as well as a balcony with patio furniture.

The local area is perfect for exploring. Some recommended days out include the Suffolk Odyssey Llamas in Halesworth less than 3 miles from the lodges, and Africa Alive in Lowestoft less than 10 miles away.

I went away with 2 friends. We had a lovely time. The lodge was clean and tidy. We had our own private hot tub which just made our 4 night stay complete. The only down side was we arrived on the Monday at 3pm and our tub wasn't warm enough to use untill Tuesday. But other than that we had a fab time. They supplied us with a list of restaurants and pubs near by too.

Its the 2nd time we have been here, the lodge is stunning and immaculately clean. The only reason I gave the overall rating 8/10 is due to arriving each time on a Friday and not being able to use the hot tub until the following day as it wasnt hot enough.
Nicola
Great location. Everything was clean and lodge was very spacious. Can’t wait to go back!
Amy
We had an amazing holiday the log cabin was lovelier than we could’ve expected and the staff and people in the local area were lovely. We will definitely be coming again.
Jennifer
Amazing lodge. Beautiful location. So peaceful. We have been to this lodge in excess of 10 times. The owners are lovely helpful and nice. There is everything you need in the lodge and the hot tub at night u dear the stars is wonderful. I would recommend a break here to anyone there was nothing to find fault with.
L
A wonderful relaxing hoilday
Roy
Wonderful relaxing family holiday there. Four very happy boys 😊
Caroline
Friendly facility and location was quiet. The lodge was very clean and we enjoyed our stay. Ideally need a car to go out and about if the weather isn’t great.
Charlotte
great time away. relaxing. loved the hot tub
Robert and Jeanette
As always absolutely fantastic.
Stephen
The lodge was very clean. Well fitted with kitchen appliances and had a warm feeling. It was also warm. The location suited us as it was peaceful. Despite the weather (rain and more rain) the nature trail was well thought out and enjoyable to walk. The hot tub was the icing on the cake. The resident donkeys also brought a nice aspect to the site.
Cara
Great place- went with an 18 month old and a 5 year old. We stayed in a 3 bedroom Deben premier and it was very very spacious with high ceilings and well equipped. There was a small amount of kids cups and plates which was helpeful. Only one dishwasher tab though. A good amount of kitchen kit. Hot tub was fun, and it was lovely to be looking on to the fields. The kids playground bit was lovely and we enjoyed the small walk next to it. The shop had a good selection of food and drinks and other bits and bobs. Downsides- The beds were not comfy- like sleeping on a rock. I would suggest bringing a mattress topper. The heating is controlled by the office using WiFi- I wasn’t too keen on this system as we got cold in the night and couldn’t turn the heating on. Hot tub didn’t heat up until the next day. If people are using their hot tubs in the evening or are outside playing or eating you can hear them very clearly. Not the end of the world, but worth noting :)

Fun Days Out near Heathside Lodges

Africa Alive - about 9 Miles
Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park is an amazing 50 acres area of stunning coastal parkland and is packed with family friendly rides and attractions. This park is an excellent choice for families with children of varied ages as there are a number of small rides for the little ones as well as some adrenaline boosting white knuckle rides for teenagers. As well as rides the site hosts some fantastic shows including the ever popular Sea Lion and Parrot encounters. At Halloween, Christmas and Easter other themed shows can also be enjoyed.  The site also has a good range of places to eat and drink whether you are looking to spend a leisurely hour relaxing with a meal or just grab a quick snack.
Suffolk Owl Sanctuary - about 19 Miles
This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
Banham Zoo - about 23 Miles
This award winning wildlife attraction has much to offer both families and couples looking for a fun and educational day out.  You can discover a whole wild world of animals with over 1000 different animals from around the world. You will probably want to try and spend the whole day here so you don's miss out on anything.  Highlights include the amazing animals presentation, the birds of prey display and the feeding talks, all of which take place at set times of the day.  This attraction is fantastic value for money and highly recommended.  Their latest event is the Snow Leopard Club Naming Auction and there has recently been a baby giraffe born at the zoo.
