We stayed in the McArdle, with 2 kids and a dog. It was an absolutely beautiful lodge, the nicest we've stayed in. Beautiful views and overall a stunning place to stay!

This is an amazing lodge with lots of features and gadgets. The views are lovely during the day and even better at night with clear skies.
The lodge is extremely spacious and has everything you need and more.
Lodges were well spread out and very private, we didn't hear a thing .
The only reason we haven't given 10 is there was a smell of drains in the main bedroom and the bedroom lights flickered on and off randomly during the night.
The booking form does warn you the hot tub may not be ready for use on the first night and it wasn't. This is the first time we've experienced this.
We had a take away one night and the food was lovely, plenty of it and reasonable price.
The odd negative we have put were reported so hopefully they'll be put right.
There is an activity centre a few minutes drive away that has a pub which serves lovely food and a small shop that sells essentials.
We would definitely recommend this lodge and hopefully will return in the future.

Fantastic retreat in the middle of nowhere. Log fired hot tub for aching legs at the end of a 20 mile hike. Local pub The Pheasant for Sunday roast, fantastic break away in the countryside.

A fantastic place to spend a weekend . Beautiful area ,lovely scenery . The lodge itself ( we stayed in the Bradbury) was amazing boasting a jacuzzi bath ,private hot tub and its own steam roam . The lodge was tastefully decorated to a high standard with every thing we needed even a telescope to do a bit of star gazing ,which we were able to do on the Sunday night . Will definitely return

Fantastic stay only problem was the hot tub member of staff came on the Friday night and said it would be ready for 8 o’clock Friday night which wasn’t phoned up and whoever we spoke to said we would have to wait till the next day said goodnight and hung up very rude but apart from that we really enjoyed our weekend
Janet

Kate

John

Anita
Fantastic break and countryside in abundance. The lodge had everything you could ask for and more. Very well laid out and secluded, walking through the forest which is right on the doorstep. Lovely furnishings, a complete rest and enjoyed every moment. Tranquil and serene.
Nicola
WOW, what a fantastic chalet in a wonderfully relaxing location. The beds are really comfy, you have everything you need to to make your self catering holiday perfect. Can't fault a thing. We found the wood fired hot tub easy to start and maintain the temperature of each day, but then my husband has the nick name "fire starter" for a reason!! Sitting in the hot tub under the stars with a glass of fizz in that location is an amazing experience. Have already booked again for next year. Don't expect too much from the wifi though, this is an off the grid kind of holiday, the wifi in the chalet, and indeed all around keilder where you can get it, is just about good enough to check in on facebook, but then with all the scenery, it's easy to forget the outside world exists.
Trudy
Very relaxing holiday lodges had everything you could want or need for a holiday .

Fun Days Out near Straker Lodges

Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
