We stayed in the McArdle, with 2 kids and a dog. It was an absolutely beautiful lodge, the nicest we've stayed in. Beautiful views and overall a stunning place to stay!

This is an amazing lodge with lots of features and gadgets. The views are lovely during the day and even better at night with clear skies.
The lodge is extremely spacious and has everything you need and more.
Lodges were well spread out and very private, we didn't hear a thing .
The only reason we haven't given 10 is there was a smell of drains in the main bedroom and the bedroom lights flickered on and off randomly during the night.
The booking form does warn you the hot tub may not be ready for use on the first night and it wasn't. This is the first time we've experienced this.
We had a take away one night and the food was lovely, plenty of it and reasonable price.
The odd negative we have put were reported so hopefully they'll be put right.
There is an activity centre a few minutes drive away that has a pub which serves lovely food and a small shop that sells essentials.
We would definitely recommend this lodge and hopefully will return in the future.

Fantastic retreat in the middle of nowhere. Log fired hot tub for aching legs at the end of a 20 mile hike. Local pub The Pheasant for Sunday roast, fantastic break away in the countryside.

The best stay ever! Will be returning as soon as possible. The Perfect Mini Moon break for us Newlyweds :)
Amazing lodge! Everything was fantastic and we loved every minute of our stay. Only minor complaint would be the hot tub was told would take 4-8hours to heat up but took a day and half and was cold again by the next morning.
The Straker Lodge is the only one of its kind on the site. It is hugely comfortable, impressively equipped and has uninterrupted and panoramic views over the valley, awesome when it snows. There is good walking right from your door, you couldn’t ask for a better location.
The hot tub is wood fired and takes several hours to heat, I would recommend paying for it to be pre-heated, especially if you are there for a short stay. We made the mistake of banking it up to stop it going out overnight and it was too hot the next day, be warned!
The staff at the Calvert Trust were first class, excellent customer service.
There are numerous activities which can be booked and meals can be taken in the centre if required.
All in all we had a wonderful time and would love to return in the future.
One small negative, the broadband is very slow and there is no phone signal, you may of course consider that a bonus.
Excellent lodge with fabulous facilities, hot tub was great in the snow.
Staff couldn't have been more helpful and were a credit to the Calvert Trust.
We had a brilliant time - just relaxing and enjoying the stars from our hot tub!
Fantastic lodge, the best one we've ever stayed in. A really relaxing break.
Fabulous holiday and a great location. Would defiantly visit here again.
Amazing stay! Wonderful staff! Couldn't of asked for more. Thank you Calvert trust kielder.
Absolutely fabulous lodge and surrounding area. The lodge was emaculate and to a very high standard.
Fantastic stay only problem was the hot tub member of staff came on the Friday night and said it would be ready for 8 o’clock Friday night which wasn’t phoned up and whoever we spoke to said we would have to wait till the next day said goodnight and hung up very rude but apart from that we really enjoyed our weekend
Fantastic break and countryside in abundance. The lodge had everything you could ask for and more. Very well laid out and secluded, walking through the forest which is right on the doorstep. Lovely furnishings, a complete rest and enjoyed every moment. Tranquil and serene.
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples. As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there. Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
