Pickering Lodges are just 30 minutes from the historic city of York and on the edge of the quiet market town of Pickering.  The location of these lodges for exploring the local area is ideal.  The North York Moors are easily accessible as well as the seaside towns Whitby and Scarborough.

The lodges themselves are beautiful with stylish interiors and plenty of space.  The decking areas are also well proportioned with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

Grosmont Lodge is a good choice for couples with modern living area, lake view and outdoor hot tub.  The Newton Dale Lodge is excellent for families with three bedrooms and open plan living - also with a lakeside view.

Families will love Flamingo Land just 2 miles from Pickering Lodges, with a huge range of rides and even a zoo. If you like gardens then take a trip to Sledmere House around 13 miles away with award winning gardens to admire.

Lovely lodge, clean, comfortable and warm. We had freezing temperatures and snow on our visit but the central heating was excellent and we were never cold. The lodge was well furnished and soft furnishings made it feel very homely.
The decking area was salted for us each day to prevent slipping and the hot tubs are kept spotless.
The slightest of issues was the lack of towel rails in the bathroom but these were on order so that will be rectified.
We only ate breakfast in the lodge and didn't need or want to prepare any major meals but I think a few oven / microwave dishes might be needed for a family or friends who want to eat in more.

Floorboards were hurrendous. Heating system not constant so we came home with colds due to lack of heat.

Lodge was lovely, just decor needs tidying up,carpet in lounge tatty but bedrooms and bathroom lovely. Cheeky floors but all lodges seem to be the same being wooden.Hot tub lovely, cleaned at least twice that we know of during stay.Did not use on site restaurant so unable to comment.
Beverley

Amazing peaceful fantastic onsite restaurant and friendly down to earth people running the place

Very good but a few minor faults (wear and year)
Third time we have stayed here now and already booked for next new year, I honestly don’t think there is anywhere better. Lodges are fantastic and immaculately clean and fitted out to the highest standard, hot tubs even better and superbly maintained and spensers bar very welcoming and great value for money. The New Year’s Eve party was fantastic and thanks to Marie and her team for squeezing us in last minute kids loved it and the fireworks were amazing. Really can’t wait to spend next new year here. Keep up the good work!

Romantic break for Christmas & the Lodge, hot tub and surroundings didn't disappoint The little touches like an outside lighted Christmas tree was perfect as well as the little Christmas touches in the Lodge we couldn't fault anything n having the on site Bar n restaurant was handy food was delicious &available to take out although not open on Christmas day (which we already new about so we took provisions) perfect break
Patricia
Second visit to these lodges and pleased to see they continue to be maintained and presented to a high standard. Very relaxing pre-Christmas break in beautiful location, comfortable accommodation and friendly owners.
Tracey
Comfortable lodge and great hot tub. We have already booked next year.

We stopped in the Newton Dale Lodge which consisted of a living room/dining and kitchen area. There were 1 double room and 2 twin rooms. All decor up to date and very clean. Not scrimped on the appliances etc. The fire was SMEG and the crockery were John Lewis so all lovely quality. We took bits like tea towels, washing up liquid but there was some there when we arrived so if you do forget anything your ok. Only thing we did forget to take was bin liners and there was none so we had to nip out but that wasn’t a problem at all. All in all lovely lodge and very cosey come the cold nights. Our party was 4 adults and 2 infants under 1 years of age.
Michael

Fun Days Out near Pickering Lodges

Flamingo Land - about 1 Mile
Situated in Malton in North Yorkshire this has to be one of our favourite family days out.  It's a theme park and zoo all in one stretching over a massive 400 acres. With thrilling rides for the very daring like Cliff Hanger, Corkscrew and Kumali, there are also more gentle rides for the little ones such as Frog Hopper and Helitoys.  Family fun attractions include the 4D cinema, the lost river ride and the Little Monsters Den of Mischief. Check out their website for seasonal events which take place throughout the year and you can also gain more information about the zoo.  Flamingo Land is a resort as well as a theme park so you can also book accommodation there.
Castle Howard - about 8 Miles
Castle Howard is one of the regions most beautiful and historic landmarks and is located in 1,000 acres of parkland with breathtaking gardens to explore. As well as exploring the castle visitors can enjoy attractios including the unique Land Train - the best way to see the entire park. There is also a large lake offering boat trips during the summer months. In high season the site is very popular with families and offers organised activities for children including tours, talks, crafting and animal encounters. The site also has a Nature Trail which is fun for the whole family and an Adventure Playground where children can run off some energy.
Yorkshire Lavender - about 11 Miles
Yorkshire Lavender is an amazing award winning attraction offering breathtaking panoramic views of York, a Café, Plant Nursery and Lavender Gardens. The 60 acre site is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is an excellent choice for a day trip. The onsite shops sells Lavender products such as bath and body treats, skincare, medicine and herbal remedies.
Betton Farm Visitor Centre is the ideal attraction close to the North Yorkshire coastal town of Scarborough. This animal farm has all the cute farm animals you would expect to see and will appeal to younger children especially.  A great place to both play and learn we think the Betton Farm Visitor centre is great value for money.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs.  Some of the highlights of the day might include meeting Sofie the Shetland Pony and Henry the goat, as well as the pot bellied pigs called Porky and Hammy.
