This is a fantastic retreat - beautifully positioned, secluded and luxurious. Dartmouth itself is a treat to visit with its marina, traditional tea rooms and a whole host of cafes, bars, restaurants and shops. Rockpool Lodges is well placed for you to explore the beauty of South Devon, from the bustling towns of Brixham, Paignton and Torquay to the many beaches close by.
The lodges are set within some beautiful woodland that leads down to an ancient mill. At nearby Totnes, you could wander round the delightful 200 year old Avenue Cottage Garden, or the more active could try white water rafting at Ashburton and horse riding at Dartmoor. The Discovery Surf School at Plymouth provides professional coaching for all ages and levels.
We love Spindrel Lodge because of its unusual mix of luxurious and rustic features. It has two double bedrooms, one with ensuite shower and one twin room. The living space is open plan and there is a wood burning stove for those chillier nights. Patio doors open out onto a private decking area with an outdoor hot tub.
If your interest lies in history and heritage, you could visit Dartmouth Castle, which dates from the 14th century and was built to protect Dartmouth merchants from attack by ships. Compton Castle in Paignton is also worth a visit - set in a beautiful landscape of hills and orchards. The Old Bakery Restaurant serves tapas during the day and delicious French and Italian food in the evening.
Kiplin Lodges offer Luxury accommodation within 11 acres of stunning grounds all the lodges have private bubbling hot tubs and a family and pet friendly, this really is the perfect base for exploring the area and having a superb family holiday.
