About Valley View Retreat

Gorgeous lodges, spectacular views and bubbling hot tubs - that's what makes Valley View Retreats so special.  Located in Mid Wales on the outskirts of Llanidloes this is a really pretty area just waiting to be explored.

The Buzzard Lodge has an open plan living area which includes lounge, kitchen and dining areas offering plenty of space.  The two double bedrooms are well proportioned and the outside area has lovely views of the countryside and your very own outdoor hot tub.

The Red Kite Lodge is another great option which offers two king size double bedrooms and a great living space, as well as an outdoor hot tub and country views.

These lodges would especially appeal to anyone who loves the outdoors as the area is well used by ramblers, walkers and mountain bikers.  For days out close by there are several market towns including Llandrindid Wells and Newtown which are scattered with quaint gift shops and some fantastic restaurants.

Valley View Retreat Reviews

"The holiday was perfect as it had a wonderful setting with the most amazing views. It was peaceful and quiet the ideal getaway to relax. The owner was very friendly and helpful and nothing was a bother."
Katherine - Jul 2022
"Really lovely lodge with hot tub, owner very friendly and helpful, the views are amazing we will definitely be returning"
Stacey - Nov 2021
"Absolutely an amazing lodge had everything you could possible need in there. The owner was very helpful on arrival and made us feel very welcome. There was a problem with the hot tub but was sorted during our stay so did not ruin anything. Also we took 2 dogs with us and the outside space was massive plenty of room for them to roam around"
Kirsty - Nov 2021
"Nice lodge in a beautiful part of Wales. The owner is very friendly and approachable"
Gaynor - Oct 2021
"Wonderful peaceful, private location. Ideal for dogs to wander the enclosed garden whilst in hot tub but also a great uphill track to walk them on within the farm grounds. Mervyn, the owner, so helpful & friendly. Would definitely go again."
Sue - Aug 2021
"Lovely lodge, everything that we needed. The owner was superb, friendly and very knowledgable about the area. The only thing that spoilt it was the weather."
Salvatore - Aug 2021
"Very good place to visit our host was the best you could ask for"
Ian - Jul 2021
"Beautiful surroundings, clean and well equipped lodge very friendly owner would recommend"
Susan - Jun 2021
"Beautiful setting, clean and well equipped lodge"
Susan - Jun 2021
"Had a lovely peaceful weeks stay in Buzzard Lodge! A very spacious and well equipped lodge. WiFi was an unexpected plus. Our family age group was 1 to 84 years and everyone really enjoyed the holiday! We agree with previous reviews that the hot tub could be in a more sociable location, however the views and quiet make up for this. The owner is friendly, welcoming and always around if we needed anything. Definitely would return!"
Hazel - Jul 2020
"Fab, spacious and clean."
Susan - Mar 2020
"We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at buzzard lodge. It was very relaxing and welcoming. Would definitely return again.
Hot tub would be better by the patio area for easier access."
Sarah - Mar 2020
"will definately visit again
plenty of space closed off for dog to run around too"
Ellen - Feb 2020
"Loved Buzzard Lodge. Had everything you wanted and more! Ideally set up for the dog. Lots of secure outside space."
Louise - Dec 2019
"We had a fantastic time and would love to revisit at some point - added bonus was no mobile signal and WiFi - had a complete break away from reality"
Kate - Oct 2019
"Great place to get away from it all"
Paul - Mar 2019
"Had a lovely time would definitely do it again and would definitely recommend for others its a lovely break away shutting yourself of from the world"
Katy - Feb 2019
"Great Holiday with a great host"
Evelyn - Dec 2018
"We had an amazing weekend, our fist visit to Wales. Its a two hour drive to snowdonia but taking in the scenery makes it a beautiful journey. The lodge was very clean and very dog friendly as the area was fenced and gated."
Sharman - Jul 2018
"Clean spacious lodge with everything that we needed."
Sarah - Jul 2018
"A great out of the way location. With a very friendly and helpful owner. The garden is secure for dogs once the 5 bar gate is shut. However the garden is on a large slope so not that suitable for kids to play on. However the patios more than make up for this. Inside is clean and tidy with all the facilities you need and has more than enough plates knives and forks etc. None of the its designed for 4 people so we will only give you 4 items of each. Town is a 5 min drive away. We ordered a food delivery from Tesco, be warned that due to the fact it is up a single track lane they had a problem finding us, however getting to us was no problem. Only thing missing was a tumble drier to dry washing and swimming costumes as it was a rainy weekend."
Richard - Jul 2018
"Beautiful lodge set in lovely surroundings. The lodge was very clean and well equipped. Very quiet, with lovely dark skies for star gazing. We saw red kites everyday and lots of other fantastic bird life. Looking out over the valley you felt like you could have been in the middle of the mountains anywhere in Europe, but where only a 2 mile drive from the lovely village of Llanidloes where you could get everything you might need."
Heather - Jun 2018
"great relaxing holiday lovely surroundings will be back"
Maureen - May 2018
"We had a fantastic weekend. Lovely lodge in a secluded area with only 1 other lodge although I believe 2 more are going to be built. Near a nice little town with a few pubs but not really convenient walking distance. Cycling into town would be quick but on a main road. We would definitely go again especially if could guarantee the lovely weather we had"
Elizabeth - May 2018
"Amazing, can't recommend highly enough!"
Chris - Jan 2018
"Amazing stay at Redkite lodge. Home away from home"
Teresa - Nov 2017
"We had the most amazing time, and have already booked for next year. The biggest reason for us returing is that the two lodges are completely enclosed with land, a 5bar gate allows access to your lodge. This was amazing for us with taking dogs, there was no need to worry about them playing around the lodge as we knew they could not go anywhere. We have visited many hoseason lodges but never had this freedom. Perfect for people with children. The lodge itself was beautiful plenty of space and really clean, everything you could wish for. The hot tub was the icing on the cake after a day out sightseeing."
Lois - Nov 2017
"it was a great holiday i would recommend it to anyone"
Vincent - Oct 2017
"Quite simply, perfect. Will be coming back again soon."
Matthew - Oct 2017
"Fabulous place we will definitely be back"
Aimee - Oct 2017
"Beautiful lodge. Scenery is fantastic. Red kite lodge is higher up than Buzzard lodge so we had a better view. Also its a bit more secluded and private. Mervyn the owner was very helpful and friendly. Only 2 lodges there so very quiet which suited us perfectly."
Diane - Sep 2017
"Wonderful holiday can't wait to go back again."
Laura - Aug 2017
"Very nice and spacious lodge. Great hot tub and lovely scenery."
Chris - Jun 2017
"Perfect place!

Only thing would have been better if the hot tub was at the other side by the double doors. Didn't like going out the main door down the side to the Hot tub. We couldn't see the door. Not ideal with children in the lodge on a evening.

Seemed like dog hairs kept coming up when sweeeping. We didn't take a dog. The bathrooms kitchen, rooms where clean and delightful. so didn't bother us."
Natalie - Mar 2017
"Lovely lodge and very big, only downsides were the was no grass area and so it meant the kids had nowhere to play outside and the owner came each morning to check the hot tub, which meant we didn't relax or go in the hot tub until he had been, as lovely as he was it just didn't feel as private as other places we've stayed."
Elizabeth - Feb 2017
"Fantastic location, extremely friendly staff. Nice and clean all facilities well maintained 100% would book again"
Ben - Feb 2017
"Lovely lodge very well looked after. Everything you could need"
Mark - Jan 2017
"This was the perfect retreat if you wish to get away from everyday life, internet and mobile phones. You can go to Tesco's just in Newtown if you need these. Very relaxing place, well maintained, modern with everything you need. Would definitely recommend"
Evelyn - Dec 2016
