Waveney River Centre Reviews

"Could do with a new sofa"
Sarah - Apr 2024
"Fabulous thank you"
Claire - Apr 2024
"Fabulous! Loved it. Highly recommend!!!!"
Michelle - Mar 2024
"The lodge was a great size, there were a couple of small maintenance issues, but they were attended to quickly.General cleanliness was good, but think a deeper clean is required."
Sarah - Mar 2024
"All good, friendly staff,Gosport for a short break"
Peter - Feb 2024
"My wife and I stayed 19/2/24 until 23/2/24 so we appreciate it was out of season but we felt like they have crammed too many Lodges in a small place. Whilst the hot tub was fantastic it felt like we was on display as everyone could see you in it from all angles, a bit more privacy would of made us relax more. The weather was not kind to us so the ferry was not operating so if we wanted to go for a walk the only option was to walk along the single track road which we decided against. The Lodge itself was absolutely perfect well cleaned and maintained apart from paying for the WiFi which was very hit and miss as to whether you could get online or not. Overall we enjoyed our stay here."
Ray - Feb 2024
"The lodge was okay but was missing some of the basic items we'd expect to be there (washing up bowl, dish cloth, bed side lamps, hand soap). Some kitchen items were in a poor state (pan/kettle/knife handles loose). Advertised Internet is a charged extra and limited to 1 device with a charge of £5 for each additional one, not ideal given the number of devices a family will have. WiFi strength was also very poor and prevented access in the rear half of the property. The hot tub was also turned off and drained before we'd left on our final day! Having said that, facilities such as the shop and swimming pool were good, and those issues reported to staff were fixed quickly. We still enjoyed the holiday!"

"Lovely place to stay"
Verified Guest - Jan 2024
"Had a great time. Only one criticism- swimming can only be booked for 45 mins which is just not long enough."
Linda - Jan 2024
"Had a great time. Weve stayed several times and will be back in March. The property is fabulous but we have noticed that it is starting to show signs of wear and tear and could do with a general spruce up. New sofas are lovely. There wasnt 12 of everything as there should have been. Stove has a couple of rings not working even though the gas check inside cupboard door that was done in March has highlighted it."
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"The Penthouse View was the ideal accommodation for overlooking the river. It was spacious, light and airy"
Caroline - Nov 2023
"A bit tired in paces"
Katrina - Nov 2023
"We did experience a couple of issues, but they were dealt with speedily and efficiently by the staff on site. Overall it was fine, quite isolated but we knew that beforehand and were happy to proceed."
Paul - Nov 2023
"Pleasant place if you enjoy a peaceful, slower pace. Need transport."
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"The view was great but apartment needed some attention in places"

"Relaxing and peaceful time at Barn Owl lodge complete with friendly duck and rabbits hopping on grass. The Inn had lovely staff and filling meals . All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. Lovely place to stay"
Polly - Jul 2023
"Inside was spotless, everything worked well, but the decking area could have been cleaned better (lots of cobwebs)."
Ann - Jun 2023
"had great time lovely location but some of the lodges starting to look run down outside"
Andrew - May 2023
"Was a lovely luxurious hotel quality accommodation."
Wendy - Aug 2020
"We had a great week in a nice sized lodge with a big hot tub"
Lisa - Aug 2020
"Loved the holiday only thing I could fault was the restaurant and when we complained to the restaurant manager he just shrugged it off. Such a shame as the rest of the holiday was perfect."
Deborah - Aug 2020
"Lovely time in a lovely, quiet setting."
Michael - Aug 2020
"Overall a fantastic holiday with excellent accommodation. Grandparents, adults and children alike enjoyed the facilities including the swimming pool and the hot tub on site. The restaurant was good quality food and a nice setting and staff were friendly. However, the staffing levels appeared to be low and we had to wait over an hour for our precooked meal to be served. However, staff did give us a free round of drinks to make up for this. Would definitely stay again at Waveney river centre and local Beccles town nice for a stroll and within a local drive away."
Sarah - Jul 2020
"The perfect place for a family weekend away. Stayed in the Farmhouse which had plenty of space for all 12 of us and the 2 dogs. So peaceful.
Our only complaint would be the lack of utensils in the kitchen, in general if it caters for 12 people it could do with more kitchen equipment. In places it could do with a little lick of paint. But otherwise, it is perfect and we will be coming again very soon!!"
Phillipa - Jul 2020
"Lovely big lodge, perhaps a little tired and some areas needs a bit more deep cleaning (edges. ledges) but overall pleasant enough. Bedding & towels were all lovely and crisp and clean. And Beds comfortable.
It was a weekend away with another family and 4 bedrooms/3 bathrooms was great meant we all had are own space. Plenty of lounging space too.
Hot tub had I would think been used previously with some sort of oil because it felt very soapy on your skin and had a film on it, didn't bother the teenagers but think it probably needed a better clean.
Kitchen crockery & cutlery abit sparse, they had removed non essential items and there was literally 8 plates, bowls, mugs, glasses etc, so had to wash up continually. None of the glasses matched, it's the small things that make a difference and ensuring that you had 8 matching wine glasses and highballs shows an attention to detail and there were no flutes which was a shame. With the lodge being a SPA one with hot tub I would have expected the standard of the crockery & glassware to be better. A few more serving bowls and spoons, when your feeding 8 more is needed."
Sarah - Jul 2020
"Due to the way the lodges are positioned to get the best view, the hot tub is off to one side rather than on/in the decking"
Graham - Jul 2020
"A well earned break for 4 key workers would recommend it"
Diane - Jul 2020
"I liked the location and the style of the lodge, really spacious and designed well. Called team in regards to one frying pan and 2 x big spoons they advised me this was the norm! Pleasure hill beach and Africa live was amazing! I would only go back if they stock up their kitchen equipments! Staff was polite!"
Mamunur - Jul 2020
"Really friendly check-in, after a call to say our lodge was available early - which was a bonus. The location is quite remote and you need a car to get around."
CAROLINE - Aug 2022
"Beautiful location and views, Our lodge with hot tub was very lovely and clean x We had the perfect week Thank you we will be coming back soon x"
Victora - Jun 2022
"Lodge was I the perfect location and lovely, great views and ideal for us as couples and our dog. The kitchen was well equipped and loved having home comfort like the dishwasher. Only a couple of things not 100% the recliner sofa was broken in recliner position (but not a real problem) The bed in the bedroom with the un suite was to low and big for the room, the post at the end, kept walking into and covered on bruises. A divan would work better. The swimming pool was small but warm and as booking a spot was perfect for a quick dip and not busy. The staff from reception to bar staff all very helpful and friendly. The restaurant had a limited menu but food was good and went to the extra help to accommodate our dietary needs. We hired a boat for 4 hours and this is a must the mist wonderful day and a great experience. Again could not fault it. All in all had the most relaxing, chilling four days. Just what we all needed."
Tracey - Jun 2022
"We had the best relaxing holiday in barn owl lodge and we will definitely return again From the ladies that lunch xx"
Sue - Jun 2022
"Lovely lodge with great views across the marse land.Had cows close by.Saw deers and different birds.Spacious lodge especially having a big doggie Nice and clean .Everything worked and was good having freezer separate to fridge so lots of space .Need to drive as there’s nothing much close by eg supermarkets ,restaurants.Nice walks over the marse land. You get a little boat that takes you across the water to get to the marsh land."
Karen - Jun 2022
"We have a fabulous time, this is the second time we have stayed at Waveney (this time as a family) the lodge was clean and well equipped, the hot tub was a hit with the whole family, we also used the pool this time which was also clean and staff friendly. The only downside this stay was the pub wasn’t serving food we where looking forward to walking down for a evening meal and with having children this time I was disappointed with the play area"

Attractions Near Waveney River Centre

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Waveney River Centre. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park - NR32 4TZ
about 3 Miles
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park is an amazing 50 acres area of stunning coastal parkland and is packed with family friendly rides and attractions. This park is an excellent choice for families with children of varied ages as there are a number of small rides for the little ones as well as some adrenaline boosting white knuckle rides for teenagers. As well as rides the site hosts some fantastic shows including the ever popular Sea Lion and Parrot encounters. At Halloween, Christmas and Easter other themed shows can also be enjoyed.  The site also has a good range of places to eat and drink whether you are looking to spend a leisurely hour relaxing with a meal or just grab a quick snack.
Africa Alive - NR33 7TF
about 4 Miles
Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.
Bewilderwood - NR12 8JW
about 17 Miles
Bewilderwood is a fun day out for the whole family located in the Wroxham area of Norfolk.  This imaginative adventure park has won awards and we think kids especially will love the characters and the magical tree houses. You can even book your ticket online and beat the queues by visiting their website where you can also view video clips of the park. This place is also the setting for the book 'A Boggle at BeWILDerwood', by local children's author Tom Blofeld.  Parents are not left out either as you're encouraged to take part and play alongside your children.
Banham Zoo - NR16 2HE
about 26 Miles
This award winning wildlife attraction has much to offer both families and couples looking for a fun and educational day out.  You can discover a whole wild world of animals with over 1000 different animals from around the world. You will probably want to try and spend the whole day here so you don's miss out on anything.  Highlights include the amazing animals presentation, the birds of prey display and the feeding talks, all of which take place at set times of the day.  This attraction is fantastic value for money and highly recommended.  Their latest event is the Snow Leopard Club Naming Auction and there has recently been a baby giraffe born at the zoo.
Dinosaur Adventure Park - NR9 5JW
about 27 Miles
This fun family day out has been well planned and we think is certainly worth a visit.  New for 2010 is the PrimEvil at Dinosaur Adventure.  Other fun activities include the Dinosaur Trail, Arachnophobia, the Raptor Races and the adventure play area.  The secret animal garden is also popular.  You can play a role in wildlife conservation and sponsor an animal if you wish.  At the moment if you sign up for their newsletter there is a chance to win a family ticket.
Suffolk Owl Sanctuary - IP28 6HX
about 30 Miles
This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
Melsop Farm Park - NR20 3DT
about 31 Miles
We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.
Sheringham Park - NR26 8TL
about 36 Miles
The National Trust Sheringham Park in Norfolk was designed by Humphry Repton and the book of original designs can still be seen. The park has many attractions including a viewing tower and a gazebo with amazing coastal views, wildlife trails which young children will love and an exhibition barn where visitors can learn the history of the park.
