Ashby Woulds Retreat Reviews

"second time staying absolutely lovely just disappointing that the lodge I originally booked after being in there for one night had a really bad gas smell so we had to move lodges, staff were very helpful with this situation other than that lovely stay"
Chloe - Dec 2021
"Nice holiday, shame spa treatment didn't work out"
Vincent - Dec 2021
"Having stayed previously in an Oak Deluxe I was disappointed with the standard of accommodation. There was a tear in the table cloth on the table. Two of the blinds were broken. It was sparsely furnished, the TV was small and there were no side tables to place a drink on whilst sat on the sofas. In addition, the lodge had a smell of stale cigarette smoke, as if someone had been smoking with the doors / windows open. The beds were basic and not particularly comfortable."
Deborah - Nov 2021
"Ashby Woulds retreat was lovely! Staff were really friendly on arrival. The only issue was the early check out, would be much better if you could check out at 12pm."
Amber - Oct 2021
"3xpensive now being advertised at half what I paid.see my other review re lack of information on. Checking in"
Elaine - Jul 2021
"Lodge was very comfortable & spacious."
Helen - Jun 2021
"Amazing holiday with my girls, chilled, relaxed and was just what we needed. Would definately return next year. We also all enjoyed our massages we was able to book on our day or arrival with the lovely Monika. Wound definately recommend"
Jade - Aug 2020
"Relaxing time away . You can do as much or as little as you want . Will definitely book again"
Dawn - Aug 2020
"Very clean accommodation, comfy beds. Hot tub at rear of lodge - great for privacy but no lighting if wanted to use in the evening. Pitch black in fact!!!"
Claire - Feb 2020
"Would highly recommend Ashby Woulds Retreat!
Thank you for our stay!"
Alice - Feb 2020
"We got a bargin, it was a late
cancellation.
All as above, the only thing I can think of is it would be handy to have hooks on the inside of doors, this is not a moan just a suggestion.
Totally impressed and have already been recommending you to our friends."
Tamsin - Jan 2020
"Lovely place, very beautiful. The lodge feels nice and luxurious. The only thing we werent sure about was the location of the hot tub. Doesnt feel very private. Would have felt much safer if it was on the front decking.
The oven, pans and baking trays were all dirty which was annoying when we just wanted to get dinner sorted. But all in all a nice place to go and relax.
I would recommend this to my friends."
Fern - Oct 2019
"Overall very good being the weather was so wet we could have done with better wifi ,the hot tub helped make it a nice break."
Howard - Jul 2019
"This was a very relaxing holiday The lodge was superb. The hot tub was under cover and so could be used in all weathers."
Audrey - May 2019
"Excellent from start to finish, everything you needed was catered for in the lodge"
Jean - May 2019
"Had such an amazing stay at Ashby woulds retreat. The cabin is outstanding, everything was to a high standard. Would definitely recommend and have been looking to rebook. The only down side we had was we couldnt use the hot tub on our first night which was a shame. However, this was stated upon booking. That is the only thing that would of made the trip even better."
Terri - Apr 2019
"A lovely relaxing rest"
Margaret - Apr 2019
"We had a great time just not long enough"
Keith - Apr 2019
"Definitely worth a visit very peaceful and lovely to relax."
Howard - Apr 2019
"Fantastic, would go again in a heartbeat. Great value for money, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit"
Joanne - Dec 2018
"Everything was lovely, however we didn't have any Wifi for the entire stay. A BT engineer came to the lodge at 8.30 am (we was told he would artive around midday) on our first day to fix it but sadly it didn't. We also lost satellite signal for a day until we realised my car was blocking the signal, the dish is at the side of the lodge on the ground by the driveway! None of this affected our weekend too greatly but was a little annoying. I called the on site maintenance number, left a message but received no reply. Would still definitely go back!"
Louise - Oct 2018
"We enjoyed our stay at Ashby Woulds with my husbands mum. The trail behind our Lodge provided us with the opportunity to take long walkers.

With the proximity of the other Lodges, I wouldnt consider it an ideal romantic retreat, though. We felt we had little privacy in the hot tub and the renters across the road were quite noisy one weekend. We were surprised to see that they had children with them. In any case, several of the Lodges are freeholds so Ashby Woulds really doesnt have control of who lives on site."
Valerie - May 2018
"Loved my birthday weekend here looking at rebooking"
Nicola - Jan 2018
"Would highly recommend Ashby Woulds Retreat!
Thank you for our stay!"
Alice - Jan 1970
"We would definitely return, but would try to find a cheaper time to come, maybe in an off peak month purely for cost. It really is a lovely place to stay."
Rebecca - Jan 1970

"We have just had the most amazing 3 days here. The lodge was stunning. Very modern and clean. Well equipped. The hot tub was a god send in this hot weather. I honestly cannot find anything negative to say. Will definitely be booking again in a different area. Amazing!!"
Carol - Jul 2022
"Amazing place fell in love with the log cabin"
Jamie - Jul 2022
"Lovely little find.Will definitely return"
Coralie - May 2022
"Lovely lodge, with indoor hot tub, cannot be bettered. Superb"
Adrian - Apr 2022
"Great, well equipped lodge on a pleasant site. Photos did not do it justice. Spacious and great to have 2 bathrooms. We cooked there too. Great base for getting to Alton Towers, West Midlands zoo, Peak district, all about an hour away. Hot tub was good but couldn't take more than three people without overflowing which was a shame, the only downside"
Lorraine - Apr 2022
"Beautiful lodge and spotlessly clean the only issue was the bed. Mattress felt cheap and you could feel the springs."
Claire - Feb 2022
"Brilliant way to get away and spend quality time with family/ loved ones and have some peace and quiet"
William - Jan 2022
"Great location. All staff I spoke to were helpful."
Linda - Dec 2021
"Lovely time. Very relaxing and loved the hot tub. Would definitely recommend. Lovely staff from the start to the finish. Thank you."
Joanne - Nov 2021
"This is a lovely quiet retreat. Lovely lodge, right by pathways into the National forest and close to lots of interesting places to visit. The Spa treatments, absolutely wonderful as well. Just a couple of small things, for feedback. An information pack would have been very helpful. It needed a coffee table, as no where to put down drinks when sitting on very comfy settees. Also needed some outside hooks by the hot tub for hanging robes. The step leading into the hot tub not the most stable and difficult to get into the tub if very short. We had a wonderful stay and fabulous spa treatments. On site staff were helpful. None of the above feedback distracted from a lovely stay. Thank you all."
