Start planning your 2020 lodge adventure and book with confidence….
Everyone is wondering when UK holidays might start up again. With a few months of lockdown behind us we all need a change of scenery and something to look forward to.
When will we be able to go on holiday in the UK?
Well the truth is we don’t know yet as it depends upon a lot of conditions and getting the much talked about “R” rate down throughout the country – and keeping it to a manageable level as lockdown restrictions ease.
The government have set an ambitious target of getting the leisure industry back up and running by 4th July. This would be brilliant but keep in mind that plans are subject to change.
If all goes to plan then July holidays could be on the cards, especially if the government moves to phase 2 of the lockdown shortly. People will be eagerly awaiting the announcement that UK tourism may reopen.
Because of all of the uncertainty many companies have introduced a “book with confidence” policy so if your holiday is cancelled, you can choose to receive a full refund or change your holiday date without any issues.
Are Lodge Holidays Safe?
Lodge holidays will be among the safest leisure breaks because of their very nature, as long as you are travelling and holidaying with members of your household. You will be staying together as a unit and can still socially distance when required, keeping 2 metres apart from others in line with current guidance.
Many lodge parks have their lodges well spaced out offering privacy and safety combined. Unlike hotels you will not have to spend any time indoors with other people, and will have complete freedom and space to enjoy.
Some have social areas such as restaurants and bars and it is not clear whether those elements will be permitted to open. If they do they will have strict guidelines to follow.
If you prefer though, you need not come into contact with anyone else, with may lodges offering contact-less check in and check out. You will be left to it to enjoy your holiday in peace. You can go out for walks or drive to local beauty spots, explore the area, and make the most of the outdoors.
Extra Measures to make Lodges Covid-19 Safe
These are some measures that are being discussed by some companies at the moment which could be put in place to make Lodge Holidays Covid-19 safe.
Medical Grade Lodge Cleans
New cabin cleaning processes could be put in place for your protection. You’ll enjoy a safer and cleaner stay with these enhanced cleans. Some lodges are offering a pre-opening deep clean of all cabins using Bio Guard, a medical grade and surface wipe system. After check-out each lodge will be cleaned again with a hot spot deep clean using Bio Guard.
Additional and ongoing training will be provided for team members including the housekeeping team who will be on the front line of the cleaning processes.
PPE Equipment work by Staff
PPE equipment is something that may be provided to team members working within the parks.
Contactless Check-in and Check-out procedures
Many parks are looking at solutions to offer guests a contact free check in where they can turn up at the lodge, receive the key and not have to have any contact with others.
Communal areas and receptions – Perspex screens will be added where possible when these areas can open up again.
It is thought that initially parks and lodges may be able to open their accommodation elements only but not bars, restaurants, shops and other amenities.
Hot tubs should be sanitised and cleaned to standards set by The British and Irish Spa and Hot Tub Association (BISHTA) and parks could provide daily water testing.
