The North East is one of the top holiday destinations in the country with friendly people, great seaside towns, cities to explore, national trust locations along with quaint villages and some stunning forests too!<\/p>\n
On top of this, there are plenty of attractions for families from Diggerland in Durham to The Forbidden Corner.\u00a0 There’s so much to do and explore in the North of England<\/a>.<\/p>\n If you like city culture then the cities of Durham and Newcastle offer great shopping, bars and cafe culture in abundance.<\/p>\n Northumberland is a gorgeous setting for a hot tub holiday<\/a> close to the countryside and also within easy reach of towns and cities such as Newcastle.<\/p>\n Discover 2026’s top lodges with hot tubs in Northumberland<\/a> here.<\/p>\n For days out there are plenty of things to do including a trip to Alnwick Castle<\/strong> for Harry Potter fans.<\/p>\n This area has so much to offer and is a haven for birds and wildlife.\u00a0 The spectacular scenery is fantastic for walks, cycle rides and even mountain biking.<\/p>\n At Border Forest Lodges, all of the cabins have verandahs or decking with outdoor hot tubs and back onto Cottonshope burn, overlooking pine forests.<\/p>\n One of the fantastic things about this location is the mile of paths directly from the lodges themselves, perfect for dog walks, evening strolls and bike riding.\u00a0 Right on the doorstep!<\/p>\n Whether you’re trying to pick the perfect romantic log cabin for two<\/a>, or looking to book your next family holiday, Durham has so much to offer.<\/strong><\/p>\n We live close to Durham and after years of visiting, we still return there a number of times a year or even a month with the kids to visit the attractions or just walk around the fascinating City itself.<\/p>\n Durham’s a bit like York in that there’s a mix of modern culture and fantastic historic landmarks<\/strong>. The Castle and Cathedral are probably the two best-known ones. Aside from that, you’ll find many fantastic days out dotted around Durham and there are some top hot tub breaks to be had there too.<\/p>\n We love Durham Coastal Lodges<\/strong><\/a> and have stayed at these lodges ourselves.\u00a0 It’s a lovely intimate setting with a play area for the little ones.\u00a0 We loved that there were only a few lodges there so it feels like you’ve got the place to yourselves.<\/p>\n We stayed in the Little Owl Lodge which is perfect for a family for four.\u00a0 \u00a0Another option would be the gorgeous Penny Lodge with sleeps 6 and has a private hot tub and log burner.<\/p>\n Couples would also love this place as it’s very private.\u00a0 \u00a0The hot tub was a fantastic place to relax after days out.\u00a0 We went to a few family-friendly places such as Adventure Valley and Diggerland.<\/p>\n A visit to Lanchester Garden Centre is recommended if in the area as it’s full of really unique things and has an amazing cafe serving afternoon tea and Sunday Lunches.<\/p>\n Close by you can head into Durham city centre and explore Durham Cathedral and charming shops in the city centre and around the river.<\/p>\n Griffon Forest<\/a> is one of the most popular places to stay in this area.\u00a0 With a luxury feel and perfect for romantic getaways, Griffon Forest is an easy drive from York city centre.<\/p>\n The woodland is established and the whole site has an “away from it all” feel about it.\u00a0 With free-standing baths and four-poster beds in some lodges they really have the wow factor.<\/p>\n There are facilities on the doorstep too including a Fly fishing lake and cycle hire.\u00a0 Just a few minutes’ walk away is Tykes restaurant where guests at Griffon Forest receive a discount.\u00a0 The Poachers Premier Lodge is a real treat with an outdoor hot tub and a great interior.<\/p>\n This area of the North East is perfect for exploring with both the Dales and the Moors close by.\u00a0 Explore by car or get on a bike to really make the most of the outdoors.<\/p>\n Woodland Lakes Lodges in Thirsk<\/a>, Yorkshire, are beautiful lodges positioned around a lake as the name suggests.<\/p>\n An ideal retreat for couples and families with all the delights of Yorkshire on the doorstep.\u00a0 Close to the city of York, there are also lots of charming towns and<\/p>\n villages dotted around the area.\u00a0 You can take a Steam Train ride to Goathland, the setting for the TV show Heartbeat.\u00a0 These lodges have a kid’s play area on site and plenty of opportunities for fishing.<\/p>\n Vale of York Country Park are another favourite in this area with stunning hot tub cabins including cottages and cabins each equipped with private hot tubs.<\/p>\n This semi-rural area is just 5 miles from York.<\/p>\n Vale of York Country Park is also very pet friendly with many lodges offering dog-friendly accommodation.<\/p>\n For families, theme parks in this area include Lightwater Valley and Flamingo Land which are super fun family days out in the North East.<\/p>\n Onsite facilities include fishing and there’s a friendly reception to get you settled in and help with anything you need.
