White Cross Bay Reviews

"Excellent location and surrounding. Very good park. The lodges great quality clean and very well equipped. The only thing the swimming pool opening hours could be longer it only operates 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon."

"Lovely site. Beautiful lodge which we were lucky enough to be situated near the lake. The indoor pool was a bit busy for my liking."
Vic - Aug 2020
"I recommend to everyone. We will be back"
Urszula - Aug 2020
"Our family of 4 had the best time ever! The lodge had everything we needed, great time in a hot tub. Lodge was clean, can't fault furniture, rooms or kitchen. The park had good entertainment for kids"
Oleksandra - Aug 2020
"Very Clean then expected"
Kiran - Aug 2020
"Brilliant location will be returning in near future."
David - Aug 2020
"A little bit of paradise in the lakes !"
Christina - Aug 2020
"Just one area of concern with regard to COVID. Waiters were not wearing face masks when taking food to table. And were talking to each other and visitors with food directly below mouth. This should not be happening."
Mike - Jul 2020
"Beautiful lodge. Great location on site. High standard of decor. The third bedroom however is small and the bed is a small three quarter size double. Ok for our two grandchildren but too small for two adults. No spare pillows in any rooms. That was the only fault as everything else was perfect."
Lorraine - Jul 2020
"Superb location with built-in comfort."
Keith - Jul 2020
"Lovely restaurant excellent staff lovely food value for money"
Gillian - Jul 2020
"We were slightly mis-lead when booking this lodge as we were under the impression wed have a hot tub, the advert specified certain accommodations Would have one but there was nothing to say that brathay - Pron. (bray-thay) Lodge wouldnt come equipped with one.
On arrival we spoke to staff at white cross bay as we assumed theyd given us the wrong lodge and they explained that it had been a very frequent occurrence over the last 2-3 weeks that people thought brathay lodge had a hot tub.. to clarify brathay lodge at white cross bay is lodge only!! Confusion has occurred because a private owner has also named his lodge, brathay lodge and when searched on google, the majority are pictures of HIS lodge.
After the initial disappointment we settled into our lodge, it was cosy although a little bit of a draft came through the main doors. Full central heating was available and a full working kitchen inc. cooker, grill, fan oven, fridge freezer and dishwasher (please note you will need to take your own cleaning equipment like washing up liquid and dish washer tablets)
Dining table, pots and pans, cutlery, plates and cups/glasses were also available for us.
Overall a great experience after minor issues were resolved, staff were really friendly and we absolutely would return!"
Emma - Mar 2020
"Overall comfortable, clean and pleasant. Insufficient shelving in en-suite bathroom and place to put clothes in bedroom. Fridge shelves missing and needed cushions on settees. All minor details."
Barry - Mar 2020
"Great shortbreak with nice accomodation and Local bustop."
Amanda - Mar 2020
"The caravan was clean and comfortable. It was lacking in hooks to hang wet jackets etc however and the dining table was far too big for the space and got in the Way!"
Claire - Feb 2020
"We had an amazing time here. Everything you needed was in your cabin or onsite to purchase. We are rebooking for next year"
Stephanie - Dec 2019
"Fabulous "
Jackie - Dec 2019
"Amazing place and an amazing family holiday. Would recommend and will be rebooking"

Ivor - Nov 2019
"A fantastic overall relaxing stay."
Mary - Oct 2019
"The lodge was very nice and the heating was excellent although we did not need it on a lot of the time but the place was roasting. The hot tub could be a bit more secluded as you can see it from the next lodge when you are getting out and in but otherwise it was very good."
Jacqueline - Oct 2019
"Lovely lodge in good condition with everything we needed"
Gavin - Oct 2019
"Having ordered a Rothay caravan we found ourselves in a private caravan which was pet free and very tidy and clean. However the shower needs a bit of TLC."

Attractions Near White Cross Bay

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to White Cross Bay. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 4 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 10 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 15 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 18 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 22 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 23 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 34 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Bowland Wild Boar Park - PR3 2QT
about 37 Miles
Head for the Bowland Wild Boar park and we don't think you will be disappointed.  A popular attraction in Preston there is so much to do for the whole family.  From picnics, walks and wildlife to experiencing feeding the animals you are sure to have a memorable day out.  Also popular is the kids tractor play area.  For rest and relaxation the cafe is ideal serving hot drinks and snacks with a lovely view over the pond and wildlife feeding station.  The Forest of Bowland has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
