About Calthwaite Hall Lodges

Calthwaite Hall Lodges are the ideal choice if you're looking for a stylish and tranquil escape in the Cumbria region.  Part of the hand picked Autograph Lodge Holidays Collection you can be sure of an immaculate lodge in a gorgeous location.

The location itself is quite unique being nestled in the grounds of the stunning Calthwaite Hall which dates back to 1837.  The surrounding lawns and paddocks are home to adorable miniature Falabella ponies.   It's been described as a 'a perfect luxurious secret escape' and we couldn't agree more.

The lodges themselves are befitting of the setting with sleek and high spec interiors and of course private hot tubs complete the picture. Choose from 2 and 3 bedroom lodges with Flatscreen TV and freeview, well equipped kitchen with dishwasher and WIFI in each lodge.  You'll also receive a complimentary welcome pack.

The Calthwaite 4 Lodge is one of our favourites with a stunning modern interior, outdoor decking with great quality garden furniture and an outdoor hot tub with views over the countryside.

You can walk to the local pub in Calthwaite Village for a relaxing drink or head out to explore the local Sandstone villages and quaint market towns.

"We have recently just returned from a 4 night stay, couldnt fault our micro lodge, the shower was huge, everything was spotless and we throughly enjoyed the outdoor furniture and hot tub with the beautiful weather, the staff were very friendly and helpful :). We visited the pub opposite The Globe, where we sat inside and in the beer garden the staff were very friendly and helpful. Cant wait to return one day soon."
Lisa - Aug 2020
"Fabulous, fun and relaxing time,"
Susan - Aug 2020
"Excellent location, staff and local people very friendly, lodge and hot tub where great. It was really good having a pub with great food just outside the grounds, wish we had booked longer. I would highly recommend."
James - Aug 2020
"Overall it was great, lodge was amazing though needed a little attention to the fixtures and equipment needed- (no toaster and grill did not light)
Security was very good and felt very safe. Loved the peacocks strolling around and animals at the hall to look at.
Hot tub was great and this was monitored by the lovely host Tony and he was very helpful and hands on if you needed it as was Adam who manages the Pub."
Laura - Jul 2020
"We stayed at the Brackenburgh lodge, this is so beautifully situated. The decking looks out onto the horses, peacocks, ducks, and cockerels. Inside of the lodge was immaculately clean which I was hoping for and can definitely advise this had had a deep clean. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept very well. The hot tub was a lovely touch and spent every night in there. The Globe Inn which is across from the entrance of the site serves fab food, Toni and all his staff are very welcoming and nothing is a problem. I would highly recommend these lodges and only 10 minutes from Penrith."
Tracy - Jul 2020
"Would definitely be returning back. Great place to just relax."

"Had the best long weekend there ever. So relaxing and peaceful whilst still being local to Pembrith town. The hot tub is next level and easy to use. Will definitely be coming back in the summer 100% "
Harrison - Feb 2020
"As Brackenburgh wasn't wheelchair friendly the staff moved us to The Coachhouse, both accommodations were lovely."
Kathleen - Feb 2020
"Great, would highly recommend!"
Julie - Feb 2020
"The lodge was nice but there were no instructions on how to use the cooker or washing machine just more rules and reminders."
Joe - Feb 2020
"Couldnt say a thing wrong about the accommodation and the lovely staff would definitely recommend and will definitely be coming back! Thank you so much"
Arron - Feb 2020
"We have just returned from the most relaxing weekend at Calthwaite Lodges. The lodge was stunning, spotlessly clean and well equipped. The view was beautiful and the hot tub was perfect.
The grounds are stunning to walk around and I can only imagine how amazing it would be in summer. The staff at Globe Inn opposite were very helpful and Tony one of the owners we met was lovely to chat with and came around checking the hot tub each day. Nothing was too much trouble!
We stayed in an Aspen lodge, number 2, which was spacious and had a perfect view. The peacocks roaming around the grounds were lovely to see and kept the little ones happy.
I had travelled from Liverpool with my young daughter to meet my best friend and her young daughter from County Durham. It was half way for us both and we will definitely be returning!
We cooked at the lodge each night and popped over to the pub opposite for a drink. Just perfect!"
Lisa - Jan 2020
"Clean and comfortable carriage house. Good to have washing machine and dishwasher to have a totally relaxing holiday!"
Fiona - Jan 2020
"Amazing lodge, clean and stylish, the views were stunning. Waking up to the horses and other animals right on our doorstep was amazing. The hot tub was great. Staff was really friendly and helpful. Pub in the village was lovely. 15 minute drive from Penrith and Carlisle. Would recommend and will definitely be back."
Holly - Jan 2020
"Great place to stay. Great staff at the pub. Would highly recommend.

Only criticism would benefit from a single welcome pack with all Info in and details of where the boiler is located in cabin and how to operate the oven etc.
But great stay"
Tomas - Dec 2019
"Only thing that was disappointing was that the DVD player was only in the bedroom not in the living room."
Andrea - Nov 2019
"Lovely lodge, bigger than expected with lots of storage. Bed is comfy and clean, great shower and enough kitchen space. Hot tub is a great feature"
Chloe - Nov 2019
"Absolutely wonderful stay. This lodge's seating area sits facing away from all the other lodges, with a view over the fields. Well worth paying the extra for privacy. Lodge extremely comfortable and in excellent condition. Our confirmation email didn't say to collect keys at the pub opposite the gates - you need to get them to get through the security gate onto the site. Small site and very quiet. M6 nearby and some noise of traffic but minimal and you soon don't notice it. My old dog appreciated the enclosed veranda and with this being the biggest lodge on site, the veranda gave him his own space. Plenty of quiet dog walks nearby too."
Cath - Aug 2022
"outstanding - the globe was also lovely for food"
Sylvia - Jul 2022
"Lovely spotless lodge in a lovely small quiet site. Very friendly Peacocks come calling for a treat everyday. Pub at end of road for drinks or meals. Would definitely go back :)"
Trisha - Jul 2022
"Booked this for 3 days which cost just over £600 which taking into account we were actually only in the lodge for 1 day I felt was a lot of money. We were in Calthwaite for a family so it made sense to stay here. The cabin was a good size and clean, comfy beds and the hot tub was great. Staff amazing. My only real issue was that it was hot while we were there and we had no fans or air con which made things abit uncomfortable at times. I have to be fair though we did not ask if fans were available due to the short time of our stay. The pub across the road was also lovely, again with lovely staff."
Amanda - Jul 2022
"A beautiful retreat for relaxation. Not much around, but that's a good thing. The horses are beautiful as are the peacocks that roam around freely. Wonderful!!"
Lorna - Jul 2022
"What a fantastic place to stay unbelievable staff very welcoming that means everyone at the lodges and the Globe inn Pub be back there soon ?"
Geoff - Jul 2022
"Lovely holiday cottage, Friendly staff. Hot tub was amazing!"
Verified Guest - Jun 2022
"Amazing venue, staff are great, pub food is really nice"
Kierran - Jun 2022
"Great for couples looking for a few days away, would definitely recommend"
Craig - Jun 2022
"Had a relaxing weekend away here Lovely pub on the doorstep with nice food which is also used as check in and Staff are on hand if you need them via the pub too Ideal for a break away from it all, probably not for kids though as not much around. We will be returning"

Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 10 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 15 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 16 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU

Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.

Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
Mabie Farm Park - DG2 8EZ

Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 38 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Go Ape Northumberland - NE48 1NT

Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
