About Hillcroft Park

Hillcroft Park is set in the beautiful Ullswater Valley in the Lake District National Park, sitting above the pretty lakeside village of Pooley Bridge and Lake Ullswater, a 5-minute walk from the park.
We believe a holiday at Hillcroft Park is about more than just good service, great amenities and a wonderful setting. We offer a peaceful and relaxed environment where you can focus on making memories, sharing stories and enjoying precious family time. Hillcroft Park is an idyllic location from which to explore the Lake District and the Eden Valley.
Set on a rolling hillside which provides some of the most stunning views across Lake Ullswater and the nearby hills.
Walking, cycling, fishing, sailing, climbing and canoeing are just some of the activities that are available within the surrounding area, or you may just wish to relax on this David Bellamy Gold Award winning Park. Hillcroft Park is perfectly situated and offers easy access to the Lake District and the local towns for those who like to discover some of Cumbria’s more specialist shops. Within a short distance from the park there are many local attractions such as the Rheged Visitor Centre and The Ullswater Steamer. Gentle walks, such as the one to the Aira Force Waterfall are just a short drive away. For the more adventurous walkers, Helvellyn and other more taxing walks are close by.
A short walk from Pooley Bridge, one of Cumbria’s most picturesque villages.

Hillcroft Park Reviews

"One tiny omission was a lack of wooden chopping board. The glass one had the knives quite blunt. Apart from that, a lovely cosy well laid out lodge."
Debbie - Apr 2024
"Great family house, just lacking a nice garden."
Lisa - Nov 2023
"Wonderful cottage. The place provides everything needed for a home from home. The property is warm and welcoming, and the addition of the hot tub is a bonus."
Geraint - Nov 2023
"Beautiful cottage, has everything in you could possibly need. Very close to Ullswater and 2 minutes into Poolley Bridge. The hot tub with the beautiful views was the icing on the cake."
Nicola - Nov 2023
"Excellent break, which was booked at the last minute. Friendly, helpful staff were there to meet us and we received an upgrade on the lodge booked which was extremely kind.Lodges were wonderful throughout in a great location. Would definitely return."
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"An excellent break at a wonderful location. The cottage had everything we needed do our weekend break (the addition of two large tv screens was a bonus as they were not mentioned in the description). The hot tub is a delight. Will definitely revisit in the future."
Geraint - Nov 2023
"Lovely lodge and cleaned to high standard. Lovely smell when you walked in so very good impression. Good amount of kitchen utensils and cleaning pack was a nice touch. Interaction we had with staff was great. Quite a steep hill so if youve got mobility issues this site wont suit you. WiFi went off on our 3 rd night as weather had been bad but I had lots of data for my son to use. Parents got the bus from pooley bridge to Windermere and found transport links great. I would definitely stay there again."
Michelle - Nov 2023
"A new beautiful lodge and a well kept site, in the peaceful surroundings of Pooley Bridge. Staff were friendly and helpful - the only thing that could have worked a little better was the WiFi. Thanks for a super 5 day break:)"
Jill - Nov 2023
"14 of us Just perfect."
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"Such a pretty cottage with the most amazing views where we were waking up to the sounds of birds and lambs. It is situated away from the main park so perfect for a quiet holiday.Inside, the cottage was very clean, tastefully decorated and fully equipped."
Wendy - May 2023
"Fab! Only problem was decking was in the shade but that meant we were lovely and secluded! Right next to the play park so not far for little one, silent at night! Just brilliant"
Helen - May 2023
"The lodge was clean and well equipped with things for us and for our four legged friend.
We liked the location of this lodge."
Sandra - Aug 2020
"Nice accommodation, central to plenty of places to eat so we just had breakfast in the morning and ate out the rest of the time.
Hot tub facilities and large dining area inside and out if required.
Only issue was no microwave or washing machine.
A bit expensive as we were restricted to entry at 5, although we were able to get in a bit early and had to be out by 9am on last day, due to Covid.
Plenty of Parking, left the cars there on last morning while we went for breakfast at a local cafe.
Overall good place and would recommend place and location"
Michael - Aug 2020
"Lovely accommodation, very spacious, nicely furnished and equipped. Just missing chopping boards and a knife sharpener.
Lovely quiet site.
Perfect Location for the lakes"
Victoria - Aug 2020
"only complaint was the journey out onto the a66 everytime we travelled locally due to pooley Bridge closure. We drove 6 hours to get away from traffic and dual carriage ways.. no ones fault tho and hopefully next time will be all finished and we can enjoy why we continue to visit the lakes every year. It is stunning.. accommodation was perfect.. we all had a wonderful time !"
Nicola - Aug 2020
"Perfect family holiday. Plenty to do and caravan had everything we needed."
Verified Guest - Jul 2020
"We had a great time in the lakes, the accommodation was super and we will definitely be back"
Jim - Jul 2020
"10/10 will definitely heading back"
Donna - Jul 2020
"Great standard of accommodation.
Clean and well equipped!"
Brian And Sarah - Jul 2020
"The caravan was spotless and had a lot more space than we were expecting! Great location with no one looking in on us and lovely clean design"
Hannah - Jul 2020
"Nice cottage in a lovely setting, just 5 minutes walk from Pooley Bridge. Although on a campsite/holiday park, the cottage is located away from the main area and as such is peaceful and quiet. The cottage has excellent facilities, plenty of crockery, glasses and cutlery. Bedrooms are spacious and beds are very comfortable. The shower is electric and not very powerful but it functioned okay. The highlight was the hot tub, which had excellent views of the surrounding fells, and was a great place to relax after a day out walking. I would highly recommend to couples or small families."
Diane - Jul 2020
"Lovely lodge would recommend."
Amy - Jul 2020
"spotlessly clean and well equipped. Unusually when it advertise that it is only a 5 minute walk from Pately Bridge it actually true!!!"
Pamela - Jul 2020
"Spotless just as pictures show. Hot-tub was great and checked/cleaned everyday. Everything you need just bring your food and drink. Would go again no hesitation"
Darren - Jul 2020
"Fabulous. Stunning lodge"
Karen - Jul 2020
"We we're upgraded to the Clearwater lodge which was 10 out of 10"
Nick - Mar 2020
"Hillcroft Park has just about everything that the holidaymaker could wish for."
William - Mar 2020
"Wow what a fabulous cottage! Absolutley loved it, everything you needed and more! Lovely and clean too! We stayed during storm Dennis so we were limited for activity so chilled out in the cottage most of the time..the hot tub was amazing and spotless...sky tv movies came in handy for the kids..and we loved the bathroom! The place was so warm and the log fire was a treat. Pooley bridge is a 5 min walk away where youve got a selection of pubs which we wandered in a couple of times when we braved the weather. The owner was very friendly. We'll definatley be back soon!"
Gemma - Feb 2020
"Cleanest pet friendly caravan I've stayed in. Thank u."
Kim - Jan 2020

"Beautiful immaculately clean lodge with everything you could need for your holiday. You always worry staying in pet friendly accommodation but not here it was sparkling. The grounds are amazing. The whole site is so well looked after. Short walk into Pooley bridge with enough pub/restaurants to visit albeit they seem to have the same menus. A bit of variety would be nice ."

Attractions Near Hillcroft Park

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Hillcroft Park. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 7 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 13 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 17 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 20 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 28 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 33 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 36 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
