Landal Whitbarrow Reviews

"See previous message"
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"Booked over the Christmas period. The contractors whole place was very un-festive. Bar closed at 6pm Christmas eve and wasn't open on Christmas day unless you were having a pre booked meal. The attempt at Christmas lights outside was fire to say the least. Wasn't expecting illuminations but poor. No atmosphere. Bar staff weren't the happiest. Left early. Never again. Used to love this place"
Ian - Jan 2024
"great holiday - great accommodation - great site - great part of the world - great time"
Wayne - Aug 2020
"Not advised of shared patio before arriving."
Albert - Aug 2020
"Will definitely return. Everyone seem to respect each others privacy etc. No loud music or loutish groups. The village is immaculate and the friendly ducks were loved by the children."
June - Jul 2020
"There were a lot of flies in the cottage. Fly spray was provided but it did get annoying."
Gillian - Jul 2020
"Possibly a king size bed instead of a double. But a brilliant break away."
James - Mar 2020
"I thought by the photos it was a bigger outlay but loved the experience of it all"
Sharon - Feb 2020
"Will definitely go again."
Helen - Feb 2020
"Can't praise enough"
Dennis - Jan 2020
"Although this was a cottage for 8 people the dinning table only had a table and chairs for 6, therefore 2 of our party had to have meals on the couch. The only other recommendation we would like to make is to have a shop on site, we had forgotten some small items and there was no where close by to buy them from."

Martin - Oct 2019
"The restaurant really let this beautiful place down. Staff inattentive, waiting ages for our drinks order, had been seated for 20mins then went to find our own menu's, poor choice of menu, staff constantly scrapping around for change."
Gary - Oct 2019
"Would give it a higher score if I could"

Kelly - Oct 2019
"It's the first time for us there and we will be back very enjoyable Staff were fabulous thank you ?"
Joan - Aug 2022
"Excellent setup and location in need of balconies painting and restaurant closed 2 days, which we understand due to short taff in the kitchen but the bar could of been open. All in we have stayed 10 times and will make it 11 then 12+"
Gary - Jul 2022
"We stayed in Caldew 1, myself, my husband and two children aged 7 and 11. The contact free check in worked very well. I arranged an online shop for an hour after we arrived at reception. This was great but next time would meet the van in the guest car park as there is more space. The lodge was well equipped and very clean. The children used the swimming pool twice a day which was fantastic. Our hot tub was serviced every day and we had lots of fun using that. Places I would recommend a visit to with children are - Lowther Castle (huge adventure play area), Aira Force (the kids played in the stream for hours), and Brougham Castle. We packed lunches everyday which saved money. A big thank you to the reception staff at Whitbarrow Village who worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. My daughter particularly enjoyed feeding the ducks with the food you gave her"
Liane - Jul 2022
"Staff were very kind and attentive. The entire place is spotless"
Nikola - Jul 2022
"We had a fantastic few nights Surroundings are stunning as is the accommodation and facilities. Very calming place and lots for the kids. We really enjoyed the pool which was spotlessly clean. The staff were lovely and so helpful at the main reception. Food in the restaurant was delicious. We would return tomorrow ?"
Joanne - Jul 2022
"Great holiday super facilities"
David - Jun 2022
"We stayed in one of the ullswater apartments and it was fab...Nice spacious room, well equipped little kitchenette with hob sink and microwave oven large spacious bathroom, good shower. The site had lovely outdoor areas and plenty to keep kids amused mini golf and the swimming pool were a big hit. Great location for exploring the lakes really easy to get to everywhere. Would definitely stay again!"
Kelly - Jun 2022
"I’m absolutely delighted about staying there just feeling Sad because we stayed there too short…4 night definitely too short. We will back next year ??"

This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD

We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU

Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.

The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH

Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.

During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre - NE48 1BT

Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
