Lochgoilhead Lodges
Scotland » Argyllshire & Islands » Lochgoilhead, on the Drimsynie Estate, Argyll
View Accommodations

Lochgoilhead Lodges are set in the midst of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and attached to the impressive Drimsynie House Hotel with its stunning nine hole golf course. This is a really beautiful setting, backed by mountains and overlooking Loch Goil. The hotel has two superb restaurants and bars that stage family entertainment in the evenings.

Lochgoilhead is the perfect base for exploring the stunning scenery of the Western Highlands. Back at Lochgoilhead Lodges, there is ice skating, bowls and snooker, badminton, table tennis and even indoor bowling! The Jacuzzi, steam room, large indoor pool and gym are perfect for unwinding – and there is golf, free fishing in Loch Goil and plenty of activities for the children.

We thoroughly recommend the Eagle Premier VIP Lodge which is newly refurbished for 2012. It is a spacious A-frame contemporary lodge that sleeps up to six people and has a private outdoor hot tub on the verandah. The Osprey Premier VIP Lodge also has its own  private hot tub and there is a shop and a launderette close by.

Visitors to Argyllshire can explore Scottish history at the turreted Inverary Castle or enjoy a trip to Oban, a picturesque harbour town with its very own chocolate factory! Oban is also the gateway to the Isles – Islay and Jura are famous for their distinctive malt whiskies. A visit to Ardkinglas Woodland Garden at Cairndow or Benmore Botanic Gardens in Argyll would be the perfect way to spend a relaxing day.

Another amazing holiday that we all thoroughly enjoyed. The caravan was spotless, grounds maintained beautifully. The new reception / bar / restaurant area are lovely. Most certainly recommend and will return... hopefully squeeze one more in this year!

Very good cottage. Very clean and bigger then our expectations.
Maureen, Bedford
Date of stay: 10th August 2018
We had a lodge with a hot tub which was first class. Had excellent views of both the surrounding pine forests and the Loch. The lodge itself was spacious and very comfortable. Enjoyed the hot tub every evening, even the rain didn't spoil the fun. Nice to have patio furniture on the veranda so we could also enjoy our evening meals outside when the weather allowed. All in all really pleased with the accommodation which was more reasonably priced than other similar accommodation nearby.
Kerry, Carmarthenshire
Date of stay: 10th August 2018
A truly idyllic place and so relaxing which is suitable for any age group.

Date of stay: 30th July 2018
Could do with hot tub being covered as it rained all weekend really heavy so had to buy a pop up gazebo so we could use hot tub so put a cover over it would be fab
Isobel, Galashiels
Date of stay: 20th July 2018
We had a great holiday but found it expensive... the activities were great as were the instructors but only one sea scooter, water walker, archery target meant a lot of time was spent waiting. We had terrific weather and few midges!!! Was very impressed with the good dog behaviour and very very few visible dog poos! (We brought so much food with us we didnt get to sample restaurant)
Chas, Tayport/fife
Date of stay: 29th June 2018
Excellent shower. Good sized fridge & freezer. The porch area by the caravan entrance was a good size and was supplied with table and chairs.
Victoria, Airdrie
Date of stay: 17th June 2018
Tor Mhor is a stunning cottage and plenty of space for 6 adults.
Fiona, Tullibody
Date of stay: 11th June 2018
The cooking facilities could be better. Mesh could be applied to the widows to allow opening so that the midges were restricted in the cabin. Beds were very comfortable. Rooms spacious enough and bedding very good. Showers were adequate but dont all try to use them at the same time!
Helen, Coatbridge
Date of stay: 11th June 2018
Overall cleanliness excellent

Date of stay: 15th April 2018
Very spacious lodge, was very clean had everything that we needed. Very comfy couches. Hot tub jet protectors kept coming loose and everyone could see in over the balcony. We had a great stay here though and it was like home from home, kids settled in minutes and we got two great nights sleeps. And with an 8, 2 and 6month old that's what we needed.
Paula, Ayrshire
Date of stay: 9th April 2018
Loved the caravan. Lovely fresh smell when you walked in and the bedding was all very clean and nice smelling too. Caravan was also immaculate and had everything you needed.

As I was making Christmas dinner while I was there, I had taken all my pots, pans and utensils, but I didnt need to bother. The caravan was more equipped than what I had taken.
Kirsty, Ayrshire
Date of stay: 4th December 2017
I would say we all had an amazingly relaxing time with fun and lots of laughter. All done with the most spectacular backdrop and we hope Argyll Holidays will have us back to do it all again in Albatross 4. The only negative I can think of was that the sofas are not very comfortable...invest in some decent lounge furniture and it would have been perfect!
Michelle, Motherwell
Date of stay: 27th November 2017

Jacqueline, Carluke
Date of stay: 20th October 2017
There was six adults and one child in the accommodation and I would say that there was enough room for us all. The accommodation was good but could do with being painted. There was a wall in the kitchen where the outside roof seemed to be leaking and was coming in the wall. Overall we liked the accommodation.
Dawn, Coventry

This was were my fiance grew up as his family had a lodge there years ago. It was my first time and it didnt disappoint, the scenery was amazing and there was plenty of places to go walks with the dog. I like the fact I could sit in the fireside bar with my dog & feel welcome which was a nice touch. You really do cater for animals aswell as your guests. I will be coming back next year.
Lesley, Glasgow
Date of stay: 24th March 2017
We stayed in the Ptarmigan Premier VIP Lodge. The lodge was lovely with great views over Lochgoilhead. The lodge was very clean on arrival. The only thing was there was a slight smell of dog in the bedroom. This cleared gradually when I aired the room.
We had hot tub which we used everyday even on a day it snowed! Again we got great views over the loch from the hot tub.
We were there in March 2017. There is a massive redevelopment going on of the leisure area which meant we heard building work which at times impaired the tranquility of the area. We realise this has to be done sometime however we felt there should have been more warning about it. Also perhaps some vouchers for food to compensate. The building work is due to complete in October 2017.
We found the leisure facilities on site very good. I am sure they will be even better once the refurb is complete.
We ate at the on-site restaurant which we found very good. The service was good however we were there at a quiet time. We also ate at the Loch Goil Inn. Again the food and service were good.
If you like the outdoor life then Lochgoilhead is for you! We enjoyed some lovely walks. It also great for Mountain Biking and watersports.
Emma, Dumfriesshire
Date of stay: 17th March 2017
We stopped in the albatross 2 lodge for 4 nights, we were over the moon with the lodge, it was very clean and modern with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing break. The hot tub was brilliant and the maintenance men came round everyday to maintain it. We took our dog with us and the purpose of the holiday was to relax and go walking. The lodge had secure decking with a gate on so the dog could get some fresh air in the mornings and we didn't need to worry about her running off. The restaurant was lovely, staff weren't very experienced but I understand that there was new starters. We couldn't take our dog in the main bar and had to sit in the fireside bar which we felt left out as the bar was always closed and there was no one about. The swimming pool was brilliant, it was nice and quiet aswell! The goil inn in the village is brilliant food and the staff were very welcoming, it is very dog friendly in there and our dog was even given a bowl of water. The lady at the reception Gillian was very helpful with ideas on where to go walking in the area she also gave up maps to follow. Overall this is a lovely holiday village and I would love to go back once they have extended to see the finished result. I had a brilliant few days away even if it did rain everyday!
Laura, Dunbartonshire
Date of stay: 13th March 2017

Chris, Helensburgh
Date of stay: 17th February 2017
away with 3 children and a dog. The lodhe's are a good size and have everything you require. I would recommend to take your own food and drink as the on site shop is expensive but totally expected as it's the only one around. Also check in times are late and check out is early, again I understand why but any flex in these times would allow you to enjoy your time in the lodge a bit more.
Michael, Glasgow

Caravans where we'll looked after comfortable and stylish.

Date of stay: 30th January 2017
Just back from a 3 night stay at Drimsynie estate. The accommodation was great -our party of 13 stayed in the Tor Mhor and Drimsynie Court no 5. Both houses were clean, spacious & well equipped. The only negatives were a tap that wouldn't turn off and a broken oven, but after reporting them to reception, both were fixed very quickly by the maintenance team, without a fuss.

However, the service received in the main complex was appalling. Staff were rude and inattentive and when asked questions, it felt like an annoyance to them and the most common answer was "I don't know". A private Burns supper was held on the Saturday night which meant the restaurant and takeaway option were closed. Seems ludicrous given such a rural location to close all your eating facilities without notice, when you have paying guests. Luckily we managed to arrange a table in the nearby Goil Inn, which was fantastic.

All the leisure facilities are chargeable, which is disappointing, given we had already spent so much on the accommodation. £8 for an adult and £6 for a child to access the antiquated swimming pool seems excessive to me. The changing rooms were also dirty and there was a strong smell of urine. The gym was £4 to access and was extremely basic, with a couple of machines and a small selection of free weights. There was only one treadmill that was broken.

On our last night we ate in the Rob Roy bar, service was fine and food on the whole was average but we had to send back the steak pie as the meat tasted off and was inedible. It was taken off the bill and an alternative offered, however we didn't take them up on this offer and made a snack back at the house instead.

Don't bother with the WiFi, doesn't work and a waste of money.

Overall, I wouldn't go back or recommend it which is a shame. The location is stunning, as is the accommodation but the service and the facilities really let it down and many reviews I've read echo this sentiment.
Carla, Clydebank

Would have got a 10 for furniture and fittings if hairdryers and DVD had been available. But didn't detract from lovely accommodation which was otherwise well equipped.

The lodge that we stayed was absolutely lovely and we didn't want to leave. It was like being home from home but with much better views from the window! The lounge area was massive which was a bonus with a 5 year old and a dog and the kitchen area had everything we needed. The bedrooms were really cosy with comfortable beds and one of the bedrooms had an en-suite.
We really couldn't fault the lodge at all. It was a fabulous holiday in a beautiful place with lovely accommodation to go back to at the end of the day.

Caravan was lovely and spacious, we stayed for 4 nights but would have happily stayed for 2 weeks, only thing I could fault was no electric kettle! This could have been a nightmare as we had a 7 month old baby but luckily we brought a bottle maker with us which was a last minute decision.
Shop on site is good and reasonably priced, we also got a delivery from Asda which came straight to the caravan door, really handy as we have 2 small kids and car was packed full. Caravan also has a good sized fridge freezer.
Facilities are very dated especially at the pool but we still had a great time.
Food was fine in restaurant, typical pub grub...
Also went to The Goil Inn and Shore Inn which are about a 10/15 min walk away. Both restaurants were nice however enjoyed The Shore Inn for something a bit nicer in the evening, more choice and food cooked fresh to order.

A relaxing holiday in a great location. Lovely caravan, clean and comfortable. Only fault for us, no gate on verandah, which causes a problem when you have pets with you. Will definately go back.
Nigel, Lichfield
Date of stay: 9th September 2016
Lovely lodge and surroundings. The restaurant and entertainment center was looking very tired and not over appealing, however, a new complex is being built over this coming winter so should hopefully not be an issue once completed.

We were only there for four nights but when we go back (if we can get a good price) we will stay for longer.

We picked the wrong week to go (weather-wise) as we had lots of rainy days (good old Scottish weather) but the lodge we stayed in was nice with great showers.
Hot tub was lovely too (yes, we used it in the rain).
A slight disappoint for us was the fact that the Italian restaurant attached to the hotel was closed during our stay but the village pub served nice food and the other onsite fare wasn't bad.

Beautiful and well kept lodge, nice touch having the cleaning pack with dish cloths and washing liquid on arrival. Hot tub checked everyday but one of our children did end up having a skin reaction after using it. Also the hot tub wasn't under cover so it was not possible to use it when raining.

We had a wonderful holiday at Drimsynie Estate, Lochgoilhead. Our party consisted of 3 adults and a small dog and we had delightful accommodation in an extremely comfortable Comfort Plus caravan. The facilities were excellent and the staff were a delight to deal with. I highly recommend this park and am very confident that we will return soon.

For the price we paid in half term we were amazed at how lovely our caravan was. It was really modern and very comfortable. We were a little disappointed as we were under the impression we had a lodge right on the loch and in fact we weren't anywhere near it but it was still lovely. Also, not all premier caravan 3 are the same caravans. We stayed with another group and our caravan was nicer than there's so they do vary!

We booked the go active as our boys wanted to go quad biking but was disappointed to learn when we arrived that the quads were off due to thier being no instructor appointed to the post. We were not notified by this before we arrived and it did not say anything on the website to indicate. We picked that date as the other date we looked at said quad bikes were off and it was 100 pound cheaper but as the 8 of us wanted to go quad biking decided to pay the extra money just to be disappointed on arrival . We have previously stayed at piperdam where we all really enjoyed the quads and hence we wanted to try somewhere different .

The house was excellent very modern, plenty of space through out. Heating was a bit of a problem as the radiators had to be fixed. All appliances in the kitchen we very good and useful, loads of storage for food for 8 people. Bed were very comfortable but maybe should add in a few extra blankets to the cupboards for winter time. The to doesn't have much on it and could do with updating, there was no means of wifi when on the house when we questioned the staff on how to get it to work they struggled to understand there selfs about how to do it. There should be more clear instruction how to buy wifi for your room on arrival. As when in your room in certain parts you do not have any service or Internet. Few minor problems with the shower as it is hanging off the wall downstairs and you can easily flood the floor as the shower screen barley covers the bath. There is also no were to put rubbish when you fill up black bags of food and drink they just pile up at the back door to the day of leaving when someone comes and picks them up I would assume.

Having recently returned to Lochgoilhead an Engaged woman..... I must say I was very impressed with the estate, my partner and I frequently visited when we were children and teenagers with our families and it was great to be back and we have decided to return more frequently as you just cannot find anywhere as picturesque or nostalgic for us as we have so many memories there.

The improvements to the leisure facilities changing area was a great surprise and excellent. A few points that we found disappointing that potentially could be addressed are,

Bowling Carpet was VERY dirty when we used it and clearly had not been hoovered/cleaned in a while and it was very off putting.

A lot of the adult arcade and amusement games were out of order and it was pointless us visiting that as there was not a good selection for adults after you take into consideration what were out of order.

The fireside bar is only open at the weekends?? I can remember many a time spent in that bar spending a lovely evening chilled out with my family and drinking the night away, I realise that this is probably isn't cost effective to have it open during the week but the Rob Roy simply isn't the same atmosphere to sit and enjoy a nice evening of quiet conversation and drink.

Sadly my biggest 'complaint' is the food at the Rob Roy, as far as I understand the estate own and run the Goil Inn pub which we dined in and had a fabulous meal which was hot, tasty and filling and a good selection to chose from. Now if this is the case I simply cannot understand what happened at the Rob Roy, the food had the appearance and taste of rushed and unloved frozen food that was just thrown on a plate. There was stark differences in the quality of food and sadly I doubt I would dine or drink in the Rob Roy again, I would rather walk from the estate to the Goil Inn and spend my evenings there.

That being said I am very impressed with the self catering side and the friendly staff who helped make our special get away the memorable experience it was and it meant alot to my fiance and I to get engaged in a place that holds so much memories and good feelings for us and we will continue to visit yourselves in the future. I just hope that these were a few blips and that if I give the food the benefit of the doubt in future I will be pleasantly surprised,

Many thanks for a special holiday,
Melanie, Ellon

The lodge was in a perfect location and was very spacious and well equipped. Caravan good, although the water supply was a greeny/browny/yellowy colour - toilets always looked unflushed and the water coming out of the tap didn't look appealing to drink.

Location not for us - far too remote with nothing worthwhile on site. Not helped by having torrential rain almost the entire time we were there.

Staff poor. We're used to being looked after on holiday at the place where were staying, not ignored - some staff made us feel like an inconvenience to their day.

Lapwing Comfort plus are very comfortable lodges. We have stayed at quite a few lodge parks over the years and these lodges are the best in terms of space and comfort (2 en-suites is great). We had 4 adults and 2 children in our lodge and there seemed plenty of room (and the 2nd TV in the master bedroom was a bonus as well). These lodges are positioned next to a stream (which can get very full after heavy rainfall) and although you don't get a view of the loch from them, they are tucked away in a peaceful area which we preferred. Nice little walks down the stream and around the park and in the woods from the lodge.

I booked this holiday last minute, Monday to Friday . Usually when we take our dog anywhere the caravans are very basic and run down even though we have to pay more for her. On this occasion we were very surprised and relieved as the caravan was gorgeous. Loch goilhead is a fantastic place to just chill out and take in the beautiful scenery or if you want there's plenty of activities to take part in.

We stayed at loch goilhead in sep 14 and had an amazing time. The caravan was superb, very modern and super clean and comfortable. The location was perfect, if you like to be in the middle of nowhere, couldn't complain.

The only complaint was the additional charges for swimming and other activities! Not good value for money! Oh and bring your own towels as they are not supplied for free.....yes again you have to pay for towels!!

All in all we had a fab time at loch goilhead lodges and will defo be returning

Celine, Bournemouth
Date of stay: 29th August 2014
The lodge was gorgeous and spotlessly clean but lacked a cafetierre and an oven baking tray. So wasn't able to have my yearned for fresh coffee and had to use a casserole dish as an oven tray which isn't ideal when you want crispness! The owners surely could afford to put these in there. The badminton court and sports facilities were surprisingly basic with everything just marked out in the same area. And that area was unbearably overheated. For the price you pay many of these sports should have been included but you had to pay extra for everything and the prices were very high for what they were and the time allowed (ie, table tennis £2.75 for 2 bats/1 ball for 30 mins; £1 for a game of pool). Also, I don't like the way the staff try to press you into buying a "Rover Pass" (1 week £145!!!) because we planned to be on site some days but off site on others (like most people) so £145 for 7 days onsite is a complete rip-off! When we simply wanted to go swimming, you couldn't just buy a straightforward one off swimming session. It had to be some sort of deal (ie, swim and eat) or a 3 day Rover pass which you could only use on 3 CONSECUTIVE DAYS we were told. So we had to buy a 1 week pass just so we could swim on alternate days! Again, this is ridiculous if you want to be on and off site on alternate days and what difference does this make to the programme anyway???

Lodge was clean and spacious, hot tub was lovely. We liked our lodge location next to a large stream with rushing water (which is only like that after heavy rain) but families with young children would be best advised booking a different type of lodge

Accomodation stunning in perfect surroundings as well

Date of stay: 11th August 2014
The only disappointing factor of our whole visit was the area around our Lodge (Osprey 10). The bushes/foliage around the front of the lodge was overhanging the verandah, meaning that it wasn't possible to make use of the balcony. It also meant that there was no view whatsoever to enjoy, and it made the lodge feel very dark, even in daylight hours.

Our first time booking a Go Active holiday and what a beautiful place the resort is set in. Would definitely go back to Lochgoilhead. Top marks for the Gp Active Instructors, Cameron and Paige, who deserve recognition for making it such a fantastic holiday for our girls and also to their colleagues, who took time to entertain our one year old boy too :). Our caravan was stunning and we could view our girls playing. My partner fancied going abroad next year but our three girls are desperate to come back.

The cabin was a fantastic size and very clean apart from a slight odour from one of the bedrooms that could have been from having a dog in there previously.

Beautiful house, very comfortable beds, lovely kitchen ( no kitchen towel and another T towel would be good, also few more dishwasher tabs.) Bedlinen and bath towels etc looked new ,showers all excellent would have been even better with a shower mat to stand on and a "grab handle" for older or guests with a disability .all in all ,we loved our stay !
Debbie, Glasgow
Date of stay: 17th May 2014
accommodation spotless, could have done with a paint job.

Date of stay: 12th May 2014
To be honest I was disappointed at the hot tub area at our lodge !this was our second stay here and our first lodge was the exact same as our second only without a hot tub and it was over £200 more for the 3 nights , I expected it to b even a tiny bit bigger or more spacious at hot tub area but it wasn't ! Will defo not be booking for this lodge again but would possibly return to try a different style of lodge

Date of stay: 25th April 2014
The lodge was lovely and quite secluded. It was great having the hot tub to relax in. The beds were really comfy and the shower was excellent. However, there were crumbs on the counter from the previous occupant so we had to do a little cleaning ourselves first.

absolutely fantastic we have been 10 times and will always go back so relaxing

Date of stay: 18th April 2014
We had an amazing holiday. The Caravan was spotless and in a fantastic location overlooking the pond. The accommodation was very comfortable and of good quality.
Only negatives were the late check in time of 4pm which was nearer 4.45pm due to the queue - not the best start. Also the kids won tickets at the amusements to find out that they had ran out of most of the prizes including sweets - not good planning for the Easter holiday week!
Frances, Dalgety Bay
Date of stay: 18th April 2014
Lodge clean and standard as expected. Was surprised a complementary welcome pack of tea, coffee etc not included.

Bathrobes would have been good to go between lodge and hot tub.

A major consideration when booking was made was the availability of a Hot Tub. Although we enjoyed this, it could have benefited from greater privacy from onlookers at other lodges. As a side note we noticed some other lodges had an upgraded Hot Tub area which addressed our concern.

All things considered we had a great break.

Date of stay: 5th January 2014
The lodge was very comfortable, had everything we needed - only problem was the upstairs bathrooms were a little tired and the hot water ran out when a few people were showering - luckily downstairs shower was electric so was unaffected by running out of hot water

lodge kitchen was tired and really needed replacing and lodge did not have the wow factor that we expected

The lodge was lovely and was well stocked with everything.
James, Gartcosh
Date of stay: 3rd January 2014
We were in a lodge which had not been refurbished and the noise from floorboards kept the people sleeping in the living room awake, and made those upstairs paranoid when moving about. Coat hooks fell off of wall, clothes horse was broken and their was a hole in bedroom door ..
Ruth, Salisbury
Date of stay: 27th September 2013
Lovely accomadation, thoroughly enjoyed soaking in the hot tub every evening we were up in our lodge.
CHRISTOPHER
Beautiful setting, staff really friendly.. would definitely recommend
Shona
fab time with family, nice walks, peaceful setting, plenty to do and see, and short drive to nearest small towns.
George
Excellent place with everything you need from newspapers to stunning views to nights out.
Gordon
Absolutely brilliant weekend break for our young family. Osprey vip 6 was great and hot tub dashed and private. Entertainment staff were amazing and can't thank them enough for running the sessions even when Arthur was only child booked on. Pirate was puffed out by end of session chasing him around the arcades!
Paula
Family Easter break, Premier 2 caravan was immaculate and stunning location, would recommend to anyone. Only downside we had when trying to book a couple of the activities on site they weren't available and our daughter was quite annoyed she couldn't go on the crazycarts. Also the funhouse was limited to what you could go on due to broken machines and the games machines were all very expensive!
Debbie
First time at Lochgoilhead Lodges but won't be the last..Kids thoroughly enjoyed it..So much to see and do..The trail walks are a must, idyllic picturesque must see views..best way to be near nature..
Stuart
Staff amazing, lodge and hotub awesome. The park was immaculate. Only downside was all leisure amenities had to be paid for, nothing was part of the holiday price.
Diane
Great holiday and lovely setting. Staff great
Stacy
This place was beautiful and the staff were very nice. Planning another trip.
Roma
Loved location good value for money & great on site facilities. Couldn’t praise staff enough very friendly & food was amazing .
June
We stayed in an Osprey Lodge - very well equipped only downside was that they showers were not electric and with 5 adults needing to shower the hot water would run out before we all had washed.
