"The cottage is a comfortable and clean accommodation ; but it was not worth the current inflated prices ."

"Just a lovely last minute break with family."
Sarah - Apr 2019
"Absolutely brilliant"
Sharon - Feb 2019
"Fantastic cottage, beautifully decorated and furnished.
Would recommend"
Christine - Feb 2019
"The cottage is beautiful. Kitchen was well equipped and wanted nothing. Decor is lovely and all the little touches make it a home from home. Could do with more towels. We were a family of 3 and only had 2 big towels. We didnt take any for the hot tub so this made drying difficult.
There was a problem with the hot tub leaking water which we werent made aware of so when we went to use it on day 3 we couldnt until we had refilled it and waited for it to heat back up - it didnt."
Cass - Nov 2018
"Fantastic holiday. Highly recommended."
Yvonne - Aug 2018
"Review above. Beautiful area & lovely cottage."
Kerri - Apr 2018
"Lovely cottage in perfect location. Modern and clean inside. Had enjoyable family holiday."
Deborah - May 2017
"Dowr cottage is very warm , cosy and well appointed. It's 50 yards to the link to the SWP and some dramatic coastal scenery and a 15 minute stroll down to Tintagel."
Stephen - Feb 2017
"Just amazing! Didn't want it to end!"
Kerri - Oct 2016
"Our third visit - says it all."
Jacqueline - Sep 2016
"Again, just slight attention to detail was missing. Noisy boiler in bedroom, cracks in walls but comfy and clean beds in spacious, airy rooms."
Jennifer - Apr 2016
"The cottage is a comfortable and clean accommodation ; but it was not worth the current inflated prices ."
Andrew - Jan 1970
"Brilliant & cosy cottage far enough out the way to be secluded but close enough to local amenities. Amazing hotub & bathroom with underfloor heating throughout tops it off. The owners, Rob & Sharon are wonderful! (And of course Bonnie) Will definitely be coming back again for longer ASAP!!"
Christopher - Apr 2024
"Beautiful cottage with hot tub and log burner. lovely hosts, peaceful, perfect for our mini break. Hope to return for longer soon!"
Emma - Apr 2024
"Really well equipped house, lovely and warm too which was so nice on a rainy December day! Bath was just lovely and a nice big shower! The property is under a flight path - this did not disturb us at all! Dont be put off! A great location for dogs who hate fireworks as it's in the middle of nowhere. Really beautiful, well converted property. Thank you! "
Phoebe - Apr 2024
"It was everything we wanted for our weekend away and we loved staying here. We'll definitely be back! Our pups absolutely loved the underfloor heating and had so much fun in the garden. In fact Luna came home with a strained tail and according to the vet it was because she was wagging it so much over the weekend!! Very happy pups and hoomans!"
Andrew - Apr 2024
"Lovely cottage. Great location for us. Away from the hustle and bustle. Great hot tub . Lovely helpful non intrusive owners. They have it just right!"
Simon - Apr 2024
"Absolutely loved how well maintained and equipped this cottage is. Plenty of dog walks right on the doorstep. Very friendly host, they were so efficient and communication was excellent. We enjoyed meeting the animals on the farm and the very curious pig penelope. Perfect escape for us and the doggos. Will definitely be back, brilliant value!! Highly recommend. "
Brooke - Apr 2024
"Beautiful property, spotlessly clean, well equipped and very comfortable, had a fabulous break, hot tub amazing x"
Libby - Apr 2024
"Very kind and considerate owners. Couldnt be better. Enormously helpful and extremely pleasant. Charming half-timbered cottage with a great strong shower, cosy kitchen & living room combination and very comfortable bed. Fantastic parking directly next to the rented cottage. Well heated and very charming, and spotlessly clean. Great walks across the fields to the local village of Thaxted and of course within easy travelling distance of the village, replete with half-timbered houses and windmill. "
James - Apr 2024
"We had a wonderful time in Goddard Mead. The cottage was very complete and there were walks on the doorstep. The welcome and stay was very warm. The owners are lovely people."
Annemieke - Apr 2024
"The owners Rob & Sharon, have gone to a great deal of work to sympathetically convert this historic building & we couldn't have had a warmer greeting from them both & of course Bonnie. Goddard's Mead has everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The location is in a great area of Essex and would recommend taking the time to wander around Thaxted and other villages/towns nearby to discover it's fascinating history & buildings. "
Carol - Apr 2024
"Such a lovely place to stay in a really beautiful, private location. The owners were really friendly and helpful, nearby if needed but without breaking that sense of privacy. The hot tub was perfect after a day of cycling! One thing to be aware of, the cottage is right under Stansted's flight path, and so there's a lot of aircraft noise. It only took us a couple of hours to get used to it and it didn't spoil our holiday at all, but something to be aware of if you're sensitive to noise. "
Inderjit - Apr 2024
"The lovely cottage is situated on a working farm, but is very private. The owners, Robert and Sharon, are delightful. The cottage is very spacious with good equipment in the kitchen and the bathroom. The bed is really comfortable. The garden is secluded; dog proof and with good furniture. There are numerous walks around. Thaxted has good restaurants. We liked The Star and The Maypole. The Swan and the Indian are not bad either. We thoroughly recommend this place. "
Richard - Apr 2024
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Sharon and Robert were great hosts and made us feel very welcome. The accommodation had everything we needed and was clean, comfortable and secure for our dog Archie. The location was ideal too with plenty of walks to find and Thaxted and surrounding villages are lovely places to visit. We felt our batteries had certainly been recharged during our week and we enjoyed our relaxing break! "
Denise - Apr 2024
"Stayed here for a week from 15 to 22 July with our 2 mini daschund girls who thoroughly enjoyed there stay making new friends in the village of thaxted. The cottage is lovely especially the hot tub a bonus as it was the hottest days of the year so the water was coolled so it was more refreshing the hosts were very welcoming was nice to see there horses being taken to the fields each day you are on the flight path near stansted but I enjoyed watching the planes come in would definitely recommend "
Sharon - Apr 2024
"Lovely accommodation, very peaceful and relaxing and great for dogs as the garden is fully inclosed"
Fleur - Apr 2024
"Perfect location Amazing service Absolutely love it"
Margaret - May 2022
"Beautiful cottage photos online look a little outdated but was pleasantly surprised. 5mins from lots of tourist landmarks. Would definitely book.again"
Janine - Apr 2022
"Lovely clean cottage in an excellent location for exploring the area"
Margaret - Apr 2022
"Lovely cottage with a fab hot tub, small bathroom though which was the only downside."
Cassandra - Mar 2022
"Just absolutely fantastic in every way !"
Fiona - Aug 2021
"Lovely cottage and a beautiful situation. Very clean and tidy all the facilities that we required were on site. Jacuzzi once up to temperature was lovely, very different to do with current Covid-19 rules."
