Penvale Lakes Lodges Reviews

"Booked the lodge for my husbands birthday. I can honestly say it was the most amazing weekend. Loved every single minute. Everything was clean and tidy. The hot tub was screened off and there's enough distance between each lodge and had a bbq (which we did in the rain, well why not) . It was so quiet and peaceful while we were there, which is what we needed. Plenty of wildlife around, squirrels come down early in the morning and we had a Robin get into the lodge. We will definitely be looking at dates to come back."

"Cottage was lovely although very tired in places. There was quite a bit of mould around the windows and in the bathrooms . Could do with updating and a fresh coat of paint"
Verified Guest - Feb 2024
"Was a beautiful location, found the kitchen supplies were a bit sparse, only enough for 1 piece of equipment each - plates cutlery cups etc, could have benefited from spares and extra pans and utensils. We stayed in Lodge 9, it was a dog friendly property. The decor was tired and needed a paint, was clean though. Hot tub was nice too.We used the pool, didnt feel very clean but the kids enjoyed it.Overall a nice break, just needed the accommodation freshening up."
Verified Guest - Feb 2024
"Love the tranquil setting of Penvale Lakes. Have visited numerous times over the past 10 years. Lodges are spacious and have everything you need. Only criticism is that the furnishings especially the sofa's need replacing and some of the kitchen equipment mainly cutlery and glass ware needs replenishing. Will return."
Verified Guest - Feb 2024
"Sadly a very tired poorly equipped lodge"
Verified Guest - Feb 2024
"We chose this lodge because of the log burner. We was advised a few days before our visit that the burner was broken. We was not even asked if we wanted to go to another lodge. We always book 12 months in advance"
Verified Guest - Feb 2024
"Comments the same for all the lodges and the cottage"
Jackie Gallagher - Feb 2024
"Didnt enjoy my stay this time, nothing worked and pool was out of use. Very disappointed as I love it here."
Verified Guest - Feb 2024
"Will not be returning"
Debbie - Feb 2024
"Had a wonderful anniversary, the lodge was stunning and the views to match even though the weather was cold the lodge never was the hot tub was always clean and sorted out every morning. The swimming pool was Amazing and to book slots to just your lodge for privacy was great news for our anxious visitors the parking facilities were great and the lodge was definitely disabled friendly and the staff were more than helpful, kind and just overall the best will definitely be taking a trio back but maybe in the summer next time haha We had a anniversary to remember and would like to say the holiday was incredible the staff were 100/10 and the overall trip and stay was one of the best we've travelled to"
Sam - Jan 2024
"Excellent location with everything you need. Very clean and great facilities with the hot tub and swimming pool to use on site."
Ella - Jan 2024
"Beautiful place, lovely and quietHot tub was amazing Lodge was very spacious"
Lisa - Jan 2024
"Infortunately the log burner was not working, everything else was great, thank you."
Lona - Jan 2024
"We booked a pre Christmas break at this lodge! We were emailed prior to arrival informing us that the log burner wasnt working! Upon arrival the front door plate was hanging off, the main front room light wasnt working and upon inspection at the top of the light fitting was insulation tape (indicting it was faulty and had been attempted to be repaired!) Once we unpacked and settled to watch the tv, the kitchen cupboard plinth fell off! Half way through the holiday the hot tub heater stopped working, we informed reception about all our problems, they came out and screwed on the door plate to the front door, they couldnt fix the front room light and couldnt fix the issue with the hot tub so we had to fill it with hot water for the last three days! We also noticed the paint work to the walls was filthy and very tired, a kick of paint is badly needed! Also the floors to all the wet areas need re grouting as there are gaps everywhere! The bathrooms need re siliconing too!Overall very disappointed! We received a 30% refund and will not be returning unless they have a serious refurb!"
Michael - Jan 2024
"Brilliant staff working there. Met every expectation and more. Will be back again next year. Special thankyou to the lovely girl that is there every year and is so helpful and friendly"
Verified Guest - Dec 2023
"We have been coming here for a few years but after our holiday last weekend we are very disappointed with the place."

"The furnishings and lodge were very tired and in need of updating. Broken hot tub, broken washer/dryer!"
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"Great location. Lodge tired and inside is soulless."
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"Lovely location and surroundings. Lodge very dated and tatty needs serious money spent to make it acceptable. When it was new it must have been delightful but now is very sad. Nowhere near worth the money it costs"

"Everything was perfect ????"
Stacey - Nov 2023
"A very happy, relaxing and successful family holiday. We'd love to come back in the winter too!"
Caroline - Aug 2020
"The lodge was comfortable and spacious. Some of the furniture was a little tired eg dining room chairs. The kitchen was newly fitted and well appointed. Overall great for a family of 5 including 3 teenagers."
Anne - Aug 2020
"The accommodation exceeded my expectations. Clean, spacious, comfortable and had everything we needed. I scored 9 rather than 10 because the decking was eroded/broken and in need of repair/replacing in several places."

Julie - Jul 2022
"Great lodge with a hot tub in beautiful surroundings. We had amazing weather and the kids really enjoyed using the outdoor pool (which is covered when the weather isn’t so good). It took about an hour to walk to Llangollen which is a lovely little town. Lots of lovely walks along the canal, the river or through the countryside. It’s a shame that there isn’t a bar or restaurant on-site. There are 2 pubs nearby (not open every day) and a bar/restaurant at the nearby campsite though."
Louise - Jul 2022
"Stunning setting, peaceful & relaxing. We went as a group of 8 to celebrate a 50th birthday, the lodge was everything we wanted, spacious living & kitchen area, which was well equipped, and we made the most of the bbq & hot tub! Bit of a walk into Llangollen and no pavement on busy stretch of road"
