This is one of just five lodges at Springwood, and is the biggest. It was built to take two couples, but Gerald and Fiona only let it to one couple now, as they have had noise and other trouble in the past, when having four people stay. This is because they are concerned that all their guests enjoy a quiet and peaceful stay.
The lodge is just as well maintained as the others, but the roof does have an overhang, which can make it seem darker inside. The roof is of course, built in a Swedish style.
Other than that, it is just as good as all the others, and has two car parking spaces, one at each end of the lodge.
You can look over Nidderdale towards Skipton, from the rear of the lodge, too.
A great spot.

Nothing ever changes, it's as if time stands still when we depart then come back again and that is what we love so much about Grondal and wish it to always stay that way.

Very peaceful and relaxing; an excellent lodge where you can totally "chill out". We'll be back next year.

Peace, Quiet, Perfection! My Husband and I stayed for four nights in the Grondal at Springwood Lodges during November. The Lodge is perfect, with a well equipped modern kitchen, spacious lounge with a log fire, beautiful views of Old Springwood and beyond, TV, DVD Player with a good DVD Library, King Size bedroom, again with great views, good sized modern and spotlessly clean en-suite bathroom and a Sauna, just big enough for two. Outside there was a small table and chairs, and steps leading down to the wonderful hot tub, which was a joy to spend time in both day and night, a place where you can truly forget about all your cares. The Grondal is the first lodge you come to on the site, and is perfectly private. We were not overlooked at all, and after walking around the wood and the site we were very happy the level of privacy we had compared to other lodges. Other than on arrival, we never saw another person on the site (we knew others were there as cars were parked outside the lodges). We were so content in the lodge and with the surrounding walks that we did not want to leave at all, we did venture out to Harrogate (where a visit to Betty’s is a must), however after stocking up on supplies we quickly returned to the sanctuary of the lodge. If you are looking for somewhere special in this area, then I would highly recommend the Grondal at Springwood Lodges.
Mrs M
Perfect place to chill & recharge batteries.
Mr. W
This lodge was perfect, secluded hot tub, lovely interior, just a lovely place to recharge your batteries. Not really able to improve it was perfect unless you can make days have more than 24hrs in them while we are there.
Mrs B
If couples want to relax and unwind from everyday working stress, Spring Wood Lodges is the perfect place - highly recommended!
Mrs D
The garden is overflowing with birds, great for any bird-watcher,and it's private. The hot-tub is well maintained and a joy to get in after a day's outing. The park is in a good location for either Harrogate or Knaresborough, and Patelely Bridge is only 3 miles away. The lodge itself is comfortable and well-planned,with great attention to detail. We have stayed in many, but thought that this one was the best so far.
Mr H
A lovely relaxing break, totally impressed with all the facilities within the lodge - well thought out to the smallest detail. Thoroughly enjoyed all the wildlife on the doorstep and the hot tub under the stars. EXCELLENT!
Mrs L
Couldn't have asked for a more relaxing holiday and surroundings! Would recommend to anybody.
Mrs T
Total utter relaxation.. Perfect for the escape from everyday stresses.. Amazing hub of loveliness
Mrs B
The location was beautiful and tranquil and the cabin was the best equipped we have ever had. The hot tub and sauna added a real touch of luxury. We would definitely book to go again.
Mrs T
Accommodation superb and location absolutely fantastic - if you want peace and quiet and to be left alone this is the place to go. Could fault absolutely nothing.

Fountains Abbey - about 6 Miles
This is an outstanding world heritage site located close to Ripon in the North Yorkshire area. Nature lovers will be in their element with an abundance of wide open spaces to explore and there are special guided tours for families.  Some of the highlights may include seeing wild deer and bats during your visit.  The grounds are fantastic to wander round but there is also an Elizabethan Mansion, Victorian Church, Georgian Water Garden and the finest example of Cistercian Abbey ruins in the country - Well worth a visit!
Lightwater Valley - about 10 Miles
Situated in the Ripon area of North Yorkshire this popular theme park makes a fantastic day out for the whole family.  The more daring will love the big and thrilling rides such as Raptor Attack, The Ultimate and Trauma Tower.  For the little ones there are some excellent attractions such as Flying Camels, Dodgems and a Magic Wheel.  Toddlers will like the Dragon Boats and the Lightwater Express amongst other things. There are over 40 rides and attractions in total and we think this is excellent value for money too.  If you book your tickets in advance online you can save even more money and beat the queues.
Big Sheep - about 16 Miles
This is a recommended day out for families with young children visiting the Bedale area of Yorkshire.  Visit the farm and receive a warm welcome as well as a guided tour.  You will have the chance to bottle feed the lambs, bath a pig and handle some of the smaller animals.  Kids will love the big sandpit and the outdoor play area. There is also a cafe and indoor play area for when the weather is not on your side.
