Families, couples and groups of friends seeking luxurious accommodation and relaxing location close to a beach should look no further than Auchenlarie. The site has a friendly atmosphere and benefits from a fabulous location in Wigtown Bay. This fantastic setting affords breathtaking views and the direct access to a sandy beach is a real bonus.

The park is attractively landscaped and children have plenty of open space to play. Within the grounds is a modern Health Club, complete with indoor pool, gym, sauna and solarium - the perfect place to relax after a day of sightseeing! Locally there are many attractions including several historic castles and houses, as well as areas of beautiful forest for walking and cycling. Golf enthusiasts will find no less than 30 courses within easy reach. Fishing is also available just a short stroll from the park.

Back on site the restaurant serves tasty local food and there are two bars. Other facilities include an adventure playground, crazy golf, an amusement arcade, function room and children's club with "Peter the Panda".

If you are looking for a lodge with a hot tub then there are 3 to choose from at Auchenlarie. The Courtyard 1 and 4 cottages both sleep 5 people and were refurnished in 2010. These spacious cottages are contemporary and ideal for families. The Courtyard 2 is larger offering accommodation spread over two storeys. This cottage was refurbished in 2010 and can sleep up to 6 people. All of the cottages here are very well equipped for self catering and have a dishwasher and furnished terrace for alfresco dining.

My wife and I have visited the park THIRTEEN times now. Initially we camped and in later years we have rented their caravans. We have taken our own children and grandchildren, we will be going back this year, so it really cannot be bad ........ Need I say more.

Was disappointed the beds were not made up for our arrival and did not like the blow up bed, much preferred the fold down couch we had before. Sea view was not great and had been looking forward to it.

Much better than I expected for a standard caravan. Could have done with some furniture to make use of the decking veranda provided. Clean and well equipped.

Yet again Auchenlarie proved the perfect choice for a wee break. New softplay for the kids is fantastic and the restaurant is looking great after it's revamp. Staff, as always, friendly, helpful and welcoming. We'll be back.

One of the best weekend breaks we have had in a long time. The caravan was beautiful, modern, very clean and warm. The beds were made up on arrival but there was no heating switch on. It was very cold ( as a matter of fact it was baltic) when we arrived but the central heating didn't take long to heat the place up. I can't fault the accommodation at all. There is a bistro/bar which is amazing. Great choice of meals and snacks, reasonably priced with good sized portions. The staff overall were friendly and helpful. This has been the first site we have stayed in that every member of staff were happy. There's lots for the kids to do including a play area indoors and out, swimming pool and entertainment in the evening. My only concern is the lockers at the swimming. There is a £1 non-refundable charge. I don't mind paying the £1 but when I went in my locker for towel and shampoo I didn't have another pound to secure my items again. Bit concerned about leaving my personal effects unlocked. I would definitely recommend but remember and take your own towels and cleaning products. The caravan is very well equiped so apart from food and toiletries everything you need is there. By the way, we stayed in the Gold 2.
Elaine
Great site, reasonably priced, only drawback is the distance from nearest town. Will definitely go back
Louise
Beautiful location, caravan immaculate..would definitely return!
Kilee
Lovely site and sea views caravns nearly new and very clean ok entertainment reasonable priced beer and takeaway overall very good holiday not much in the immediate area car essential
Grace
The site was clean and quiet. We personally didn't visit the club so I can't comment on that. It was lovely to see the bunnies scampering around. The staff in the shop we polite friendly and helpful. All in all we enjoy the break and could find no particular faults
claire

Fun Days Out near Auchenlarie

Laggan Outdoor - about 0 Miles

An outdoor activity center suitable for families. Featuring one of Europe's longest zip wires, jeep driving, grass sledging, archery, outdoor scooters. A mix of fun and adreneline rides and a lot more.

Castle Douglas - about 14 Miles
We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.
