The lodges at Swandown are truly spectacular - unbelievably stylish, individually designed and with amazing views over the glorious Somerset countryside and the historic Cricket St Thomas estate. Swandown Lodges sit between two bustling market towns - Crewkerne and Chard - where you'll find plenty of shopping opportunities.

The facilities include a heated indoor swimming pool, a leisure complex, spa, sauna and steam room. Bike hire is available and there are plenty of nature trails to explore; you could go fishing and try your hand at clay pigeon shooting too. The children will be kept amused with the outdoor adventure playground, a selection of board games and a Wii - and there is a great family pub within walking distance.

Poldon Lodge is brand new for 2012, a luxurious and contemporary two storey lodge that sleeps six people. It's actually designed upside down - the bedrooms and bathroom are downstairs and the living area is on the first floor! Large patio doors lead out on to your own private balcony with an outdoor hot tub and spectacular views. On chilly evenings, you could light the log burner and enjoy a Blu-ray film on the flat screen TV.

Swandown Lodges sit right on the Somerset/Dorset border, not far from both Lyme Regis and Yeovil. The Jurassic Coast is a World Heritage Site and there are some amazing beaches to discover - Brean Beach at Burnham-on-Sea, part of a seven mile stretch of sands, is in the Good Beach Guide and ideal for walking and sports. There are plenty of towns and villages to explore such as Honiton, a busy market town and Beer, a picturesque little smugglers' village.

Everything as described and surpassed expectations. Accommodation was probably the best I've stayed in of the lodge style having stayed in many similar places over the years with my young family.

Will definitely be back with parents and it seems the sort of place that would be great to visit any time of year

Other than what I've said already, a special mention must go to Stu on Reception - a thoroughly approachable & engaging chap who could not have been more helpful.

Beautiful lodge and beautiful surroundings. The floor in the dining area and the high chair could have been cleaner but thats a very minor problem. The welcome pack was brilliant and the folders were full of useful information about the area and things to do. We shall be back!

I would highly recommend Swandown lodges, maybe a lodge with a better view would have been nice (we stayed at no1) but we didn't have fair to go to get a nice view!

Lovely lodge - complete with 2 double rooms (one en-suite) and a twin room. Fully equipped with everything you would need, loads of towels etc etc!!
Lovely to sit outside in the evening with a glass of wine!
Raymond
A great family escape, beautiful lodges and location, great facilities
Sian
Brilliant spot - accommodation fabulous - would have been good to access the hotel facilities but children not allowed. Pool was great and local pub was lovely. Great that bikes were available just couldn't use them because of the weather
Chris
Had a lovely time with our two young children. Having stair-gates, high chairs & cots provided was a major plus-point but just the whole feel of the place was pure relaxation. The little pool on site was ideal for our little ones & given the location of the actual lodges leaves you in great distance to the likes of Lyme Regis, Charmouth & even Sidmouth & Branscombe - this is essentially why we chose the location & we were more than happy with the accommodation. We would definitely come back so we'd highly recommend.
Lisa
A fantastic lodge and a fantastic hot tub in beautiful surroundings.
Duncan
Fantastic break, lodge was wonderful, good wi-fi, underfloor heating, large hot-tub, very comfortable beds, staff very friendly. Beautiful area, pool great, good facilities at health spa nearby. Very pet friendly.
Robert
Unfortunately the weekend was when it snowed so only used the pool
Emily
Beautiful lodge. Great helpful staff. I would definitely recommend.
Reuben
Clean, quiet, relaxing...just what you need for a weekend away!
Kristel
We really enjoyed our first holiday since having a baby, the lodges were beautiful, I wished I'd booked for longer! The area was lovely, would have loved to have done more walking but we were limited carrying the baby, but the walking we did do was very enjoyable. They had all the facilities you need at the lodge and was lovely to have bread butter and jam waiting! We did find the lodge very warm and had to open all the doors and windows to cool the bedroom for the baby ready for the night.
Kim
Could not fault this Monday to Friday break. We stayed in Poldon lodge. Stuart onsite was very helpful. We would absolutely go back.
