Excellent facilities, luxury accommodation and 100 acres of beautiful Suffolk countryside – just a few reasons why we love High Lodge in Darsham. There’s a 9 hole golf course, a well stocked fishing lake – and the gorgeous beaches of Dunwich and Southwold are just a few miles away. Cycling, walking and the beautiful gardens at Bressingham and Ipswich will make this holiday one to remember!

As well as golf and coarse fishing, you can try your hand at clay pigeon shooting – there’s expert tuition available if you want it. The clubhouse and bar both serve a good variety of food and the surrounding towns and villages have an excellent choice of pubs and restaurants. We love the Lady Florence River Cruise Restaurant which sets sail from Orford for a cruise, while you enjoy either a champagne brunch or a delicious dinner.

Many of the lodges have their own hot tubs on private, furnished verandahs. Swift Lodge VIP 4 is brand new for 2012 and sleeps four people in a double bedroom and a twin. It has a flat screen TV, a DVD player and even an iPod docking station. You can take in the beautiful views across the lakes from the privacy of your own hot tub!

Suffolk is full of visitor attractions and the perfect choice (in our opinion) for a holiday. The town of Snape Maltings is a great place to visit with its interesting, independent shops and the farmers’ markets - and of course, Great Yarmouth is a bustling seaside town with lots going on. The pier is now used for regular entertainment, including stand up comedy and live music.

We have stayed here in total three times and we love it, however we had a few issues. Majority of these were rectified whilst we were there, however I feel these should have been checked thoroughly before any clients arrived as it did marr our visit somewhat. The staff were very attentive and helpful and very friendly so it would not stop us from staying at High Lodge again, although I would rather stay in a
different lodge.

No privacy as lodges are close together , plant high shrubs?
However lattice fence in front of hot tub would be better in order to see lake, it is very "fenced " in.
Hot tub instructions needed, we were unable to ensure stayed heated and how to work the light

Very peaceful and relaxing

Lodge was very pleasant and spacious. Excellent view onto fishing lake. Some noise from the clay pigeon shooting but otherwise quite peaceful. Excellent centre for cycling to Dunwich, Walberswick etc by quiet country lanes and bridleways.
TANYA
Really lovely settings, very quiet and easy to get to popular places will definitely go back
David

Brenda
Lovely relaxing break enjoyed the lake view and ducks also seeing hares and grouse and pheasants. The lodge was very warm and comfortable. We enjoyed
Christopher
Great break, helpful staff, great lodge only down side is you can only use one rod per lodge which was disappointing as the standard is two but overall 9/10
Kassandra
The lodge/hot tub was lovely and peaceful, unfortunately due to the weather the golf course was waterlogged but we fished instead. location is very much out the way this time in the year when the club house shuts so early so if you want a nice evening meal out it's a little drive away.
Graham
Just brilliant, could not fault it apart from leaving a day early due to the 'Beast from the East'. Everything provided, even down to dishwasher tablets, amazed. Lovely place, most helpful staff and geographically nicely situated for visiting Suffolk and Norfolk. Certainly would revisit in better weather. Shooting, fishing, golf, it's all there for the enthusiast. Meals most reasonable as well. Nice wedding venue also, which started our seven night visit. In a nutshell could not fault it. Weather was out of their hands!
Suzanne
It was lovely . If you want sleep in past ten though thereā€™s a lot of shooting going on.

Fun Days Out near High Lodge

Africa Alive - about 11 Miles
Africa Alive is one of Suffolk's largest attractions and one of the most popular in the whole of the UK.  The Africa themed park is very unique and gives visitors the chance to see some amazing creatures in a habitat which is as close to nature as possible. The park can be explored by car and on foot and Hyenas and Giraffes are just some of the animals you will encounter as you make your way around the park. Watch out for the lightning fast Cheetahs and keep your eyes peeled to spot the more reclusive creatures. During a day at Africa Alive there will be plenty of shows and educational talks taking place and if the weather turns then the indoor Adventure Play Ground comes in very handy. The site also has a well stocked Gift Shop and a Discovery Centre.
Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park is an amazing 50 acres area of stunning coastal parkland and is packed with family friendly rides and attractions. This park is an excellent choice for families with children of varied ages as there are a number of small rides for the little ones as well as some adrenaline boosting white knuckle rides for teenagers. As well as rides the site hosts some fantastic shows including the ever popular Sea Lion and Parrot encounters. At Halloween, Christmas and Easter other themed shows can also be enjoyed.  The site also has a good range of places to eat and drink whether you are looking to spend a leisurely hour relaxing with a meal or just grab a quick snack.
Suffolk Owl Sanctuary - about 18 Miles
This amazing owl sanctuary located in the Stowmarket area of Suffolk should be high on your list of places to visit in the area.  The attraction is also a registered charity and carries out important work in the care & rehabilitation of owls from the region.  The sanctuary also raises awareness of owl conservation throughout the UK.  Between April and the end of September there are two superb flying displays each day so you should try and make your visit coincide with one of these displays if you can.
