Otters View is a lovely traditional wood cabin you'll find in South Luffenham, Rutland. This single-storey cabin sits in the gorgeous countryside with sheep and lambs often visible from the garden! Our guests here love how close to nature they feel and how peaceful the setting is. You'll also enjoy crystal-clear night skies which are perfect for a spot of stargazing from the wood-fired hot tub.

The lodge sits in picturesque Rutland countryside. Watch red kites soar overhead while relaxing on your private sundeck. Take a short walk to the nearest pub which is just 0.8 miles away. While it has that desirable 'away from it all feel' you'll find shops are only two miles away if you've forgotten to pack anything, or just need to stock up on wine...

Otter's View Reviews

Alice - Apr 2025
We had the most wonderful time staying at the Otters View lodge. We loved how close to nature we felt, with sheep and lambs literally at the bottom of our garden and Kites flying above us! We were even able to sit in the hot tub and see constellations and moon crystal clear. Our host Alan was very welcoming and always gave us a wave whenever he saw us around the site. We will 100 be visiting again and will also be back to view the wedding venue when its finished being built!

Very grateful to the owner for letting us charge the car. Sykes really need to wake up to the growth of EV ownership and start encouraging new properties to include vehicle charging and to include in listings the charging position. Hot tub a real treat much appreciated. Somewhere in the kitchen area to store food would have been helpful. Great location for touring this beautiful and not sufficiently recognised tourist area.

Thank you Alan for your hospitality. It was a lovely place to stay.
Teresa - Jul 2024
Beautiful location for a quiet break away peaceful and beautiful views. Lots of outdoor space and seating.Lodge felt unfinished needs tweaking steps needed onto the decking area. More wardrobe space needed. Feel the listing of the lodge and facilities isnt correct really needs updating and to inc the train line that is immediately behind the lodge didnt bother us as we live by a train line may bother other people though also the ongoing works on the site. If you go in summer take fly spray with you! Lovely for a quiet break away.

Lovely place to stay with a private deckingpatio area with hot tub, comfortable chairs and lounger. Perfect for good weather. Some concerns about fire safety .. there is an internal wood burner, a big fire pit on the wood decking and what looked like another fire pit in the middle of a coffee table on the decking. The hottub is also woodfire heated. With careful use these should be fine but it only takes a moment for a kid to become overexcited or a spark to land in the wrong place. I'd have liked to have seen a fire extinguisher in the kitchen at least. The lodge is really great inside beautifully equipped. However, could we please have the instruction manuals for the dishwasher and air fryer? And could we have some oven gloves please? A visitor info pack would mean it'd not be necessary to explain the hottub usebuttons and could also include the Wifi password. The property is within close proximity of a rail track Stamford to Oakham some may like to be made aware of that as trains quite noisy seem to be every 20 mins or so and run quite late into the night. The general description may need a bit of an update the bath isn't Pshaped so what? and the 'communal freshwater dipping area' isn't actually a thing.Would recommend to those wanting a private and relaxing break as there's plenty to explore and do around Oakham and the Rutland Water area.

Lovely little break, Alan the host was superb, very friendly and made sure our hot tub stayed hot and we had everything we needed. The lodge itself was very well equipped, comfortable, clean and tidy throughout. The area is beautiful and has several lovely pubs in walking distance that are definitely worth visiting.
Clare - May 2024
What a lovely stay! Very comfortable. We were nice and cosy, had everything we needed and, very much enjoyed the hot tub and the fire. The cabins are well designed and have good privacy to relax. A good location too, walking distance from pubs and very near the beautiful Rutland Water. We would very much recommend.

A lovely property with lots of thoughtful touches. Basic cleaning items, tea bags, kitchen very well equipped. Great woodfired hot tub and outside decking area. Quiet location with plenty of wildlife to watch while sitting in the tub.Owners are very welcoming and available to help when needed.

Attractions Near Otter's View

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Otter's View. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
The Royal Forest of Rockingham - LE16 8UW
about 18 Miles
The Royal Forest of Rockingham in Northamptonshire is the perfect place to enjoy a range of outdoor pursuits including Walking, Cycling, Nature Trails and Horse Riding. The beautiful medieval hunting forest offers areas of ancient woodlands, agricultural land and peaceful stone-built forest villages. The forest is also abundant with wildlife including Deer, Squirrels, Butterflies and Birds.
Old Dairy Farm Centre - PO30 2NB
about 33 Miles
Suited to families with children of all ages this is a fantastic attraction in Northamptonshire.  There are many special events held throughout the year so don't forget to check what's happening while you are staying in the region.  Some highlights include the lambing weekends and the monthly local food fayres.
Old Dairy Farm Country Shopping and Craft Centre - LE14 3PF
about 33 Miles
From shopping to home cooked refreshments this is a wonderful day out in the pretty village of Upper Stowe.  You can enjoy amazing views over the Northamptonshire countryside and wander around the complex of stone built farm buildings.  Each building houses something different such as the Occasions Florist, Itsy Bitsy Gifts, Hayrack Gallery and Sheer Delights Lingerie.  When it's time for a rest the Barn Restaurant and Tea Room is the place to go.  There is a small selection of animals at the centre too which younger children will love.  They currently have two Kune Kune pigs, sheep, hens and ducks.  If you are looking for upmarket holiday accommodation in the Northamptonshire area then the luxury lodges at Wicksteed Park are sure to impress.
Catanger Llama Trekking - NN12 8LJ
about 39 Miles
This is a really unique attraction and certainly worth a visit in our opinion.  Established in 1995 and situated in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside this attraction will appeal to those looking for something a little different.  You can't ride the animals but you can trek alongside them and enjoy the fantastic scenery.  From farm tracks to country lanes the gentle animals will carry your rucksack for you along the way.  There are personally guided treks available all year round and you will have your own Llama for the trek.
Crazy Crocodiles Indoor Play & Party Centre - LL30 1DR
about 39 Miles
This is an all weather attraction located in Ilkeston Derbyshire.  With a large play frame as well as bikes and ride on toys this is a fun place for young children.  The toddler time sessions take place during term times on week days from 9.30am until 2.30pm and are very popular. The admission fee is excellent value for money and parents can sit down and enjoy a drink while the children play. A new baby changing facility has now been installed together with some new chairs making this a clean and welcoming attraction for families.  Look out for offers on their website such as a free hot drink on select days.
