Bluewood Lodges Reviews

"A really lovely place to stay. Amazing lodge. Modern and spacious. Immaculately clean. Like brand new. Peaceful and relaxing with amazing views across the countryside. Everything you could need for a self catering holiday. The hot tub was so good especially with a glass of bubbly from the complimentary bottle that we received for booking between June and August. Staff were friendly and professional. We had one little problem with the lock on the patio door but we rang the number in the folder and someone came out and sorted it immediately. It is in an ideal location for exploring all the beautiful Cotswold towns and villages. Really couldn’t find fault with anything about the holiday. I would totally recommend it."

"Beautiful place amazing holiday hot tub is the cherry on the lodge shaped cake"
Kieran - Aug 2022
"A new lodge for 2022 with a great view and clean and modern. Hot tub was clean and topped up daily. It was possibly over chlorinated (I own a hot tub) as it was strong smelling and the cover inside shows deterioration. Check in was busy but a welcome spritzer was lovely. We didn’t get our free bottle of Prosecco until we checked out (we were not the only ones). All staff really friendly and helpful. We did make them aware our patio door wasn’t locking which was a concern when sleeping and being out and this wasn’t rectified. Could be 5* but for us the mattress was 2*. Although accommodation for 2, outside guests were allowed to visit, it would be better to have a table with 4 chairs instead of 2 chairs to eat/play games etc. The ‘welcome pack’ was too corporate ie Travelodge etc with UHT small milk pods, packets of coffee, individual packaged tea bags - a much more select local produce for example fresh bread, butter, jams, fresh pint of milk in fridge, biscuits, homemade cake etc would be excellent as I’ve had this many times before in other establishments. I would recommend Bluewood Lodges."

"We stayed in the sunset lodge for a long weekend and had a great time. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the lodge was excellent. The only thing that doesn’t make it a 10/10 for us is that some of the supplies were lacking e.g. only 1 chopping board, no oven gloves, no salt and pepper, only provided 1 dishwasher tablet for the whole weekend. We had to pop out to the shop to get salt and pepper and a bag of dishwasher tablets which was not a big deal but these are basics we would expect to have included at this price level."
Charlotte - Aug 2022
"Such a gorgeous lodge, views absolutely amazing. Total relaxation. Pub is not near though."
Wendy - Jul 2022
"Lovely lodges, so quiet and relaxing especially with the hot tubs! Staff were friendly, helpful and informative. Had a power cut whilst we were there and we were kept informed as much as they could. Great location for lots of the towns in the Cotswolds."
Victoria - Jul 2022
"Lovely place but if you like the sun it’s shady and no where to sit and chill ."
Tracey - Jul 2022
"Lovely lodge. Lots of space and decorated well."
Paula - Jul 2022
"This place cannot be faulted at all. From the location to the friendly welcoming staff."
Mike - Jul 2022
"Absolutely enjoyed our holiday at Bluewood Lodges. The Duet lodge was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was great , if you just wanted a quiet day to chill then that's what you got but there were plenty of places to visit, just a short distance if you wanted a day out. The staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. Would thoroughly recommend and we'll definitely be going back! Excellent!"
Debbie - Jul 2022
"Beautiful week away in the sunset Lodge nicely isolated for peace & quiet . Best hottub I've ever been in and the lodge has everything you could ever ask for. WiFi was on the weak side but nothing major. When we was there was 2 power cuts only for a few minutes but I phoned up the number and staff was so helpful. Enjoyed so much going again next week . Thank you bluewood for a cracking holiday."
Andrew - Jul 2022
"The lodge was well equipped and has a good standard of fixtures, fittings and furniture. We felt the outside space was a little plain and space, it could do with a few plants or pots/ornaments on the decking."
Sharon - Jun 2022
"Only the couch was very soft you could not sit well"
Thea - May 2022
"Lovely lodge could not fault."
TINA - May 2022
"Spacious lodge but needs redecorating and brightening up. Staff and location lovely. Train station only 5 minutes away and easy traveling to London and Oxford. Beautiful countryside and good weather."
Sue - May 2022
"Amazing lodge! Had a good time. Felt a lot more private and peaceful than some other lodges we've been to."
Phil - May 2022
"Staff were friendly and helpful. The lodge had everything you needed but unfortunately it became obvious it had not been properly cleaned since previous occupants there were two large pieces of broken glass on the floor in the living room (accident waiting to happen) frying pans gritty to touch obviously not cleaned properly and iron needed a vigorous clean before use as it was full of burned on fabric ."
Mary - May 2022
"Great weekend break, lodge was clean and comfortable with up to date furnishings. Hot tub was clean and not overlooked. Only downside was the gas oven as it had a faulty seal so smell was unbearable."
Marie - May 2022
"The lodge is modern clean and well equipped. Beautifully situated overlooking open fields. Would definitely book again."
Margaret - May 2022
"First impression of the lodge was very good. It was clean and well equipped. Only gripe was the wifi which regularly disconnected."
John - May 2022
"Wow, what a beautiful lodge ! Amazing bed and very comfortable. Great hot tub and sauna. We throughly enjoyed our stay. Staff are very friendly, lodges are equipped with everything you would need and more. Beautiful woodland setting and excellent location for exploring. Left feeling relaxed and recharged. So peaceful stunning part of England. We will definitely be returning to Bluewood 10/10."
Amie - May 2022

"Beautiful lodge and very clean and comfortable. Plenty of space and everything you need for self catering. Furnished well and the hot tub is checked daily. Information booklet was excellent. Would recommend."
Wendy - Mar 2022
"Sofa was worn, cobwebs on light fittings, only one pillow on each bed"
Victoria - Mar 2022
"Great location - will rebook to explore more"
Nicola - Mar 2022
"Juliet lodge was perfect for us, included, sauna, hot tub, dishwasher, washing machine & tumble dryer. Full size fridge freezer, microwave, kettle toaster & hairdryer. Plenty of plug sockets. All essential utensils provided. TV in lounge & bedroom. We stopped at a supermarket on our journey down as we wanted to make full use of the lodge. We cooked. & ordered takeout which we collected, a short drive away. Information pack given on arrival, with places of interest, local restaurants & takeouts. We would definitely return to Bluewood & would be happy to stay in Juliet lodge, however, there are some brand new lodges & would also like to try one of those. Overall a brilliant, restful break, Thank you Bluewood."
Jill - Mar 2022
"A really lovely weekend at Bluewood, it's our 6th visit. We have already booked again for the summer.."
Frank - Mar 2022
"Enjoyed our stay and would love to go back. Lodge was really spacious, family friendly and easy to stay in especially the kitchen which was so much better than the average self catered kitchen especially the big fridge freezer! Hot tub was spotless and enjoyed by all. Bathrooms and showers could do with a refresh and metal bedhead not comfortable although I suppose a bit homeley, better off having more hotel style ones for a better night's sleep. Overall great stay."
Catherine - Mar 2022
"Excellent just unfortunately weather was not great. But lodge was warm and cosy."
Susan - Feb 2022
"Just back from a 4 night stay at Juliet Lodge. Absolutely fantastic!! One of the best places we have stayed in. Well kitted out lodge and spotlessly clean and great central heating. Kitchen has everything you would need to cook just like at home. Huge fridge freezer. Great to have Tv in living room and bedroom. Bedroom TV is Smart TV with Netflix & Amazon prime. WiFi good. Hot tub and sauna were fantastic and privacy and shelter of covered veranda over hot tub was lovely. Hot tub constantly hot and ready to plunge into and spotlessly clean. Great outdoor lighting for cosy evening in the hot tub under she stars. Bathroom is huge with double size shower, roll top bath wc and dressing table and chair. Also another separate toilet and sink room. 2 person sauna in bathroom with mood lighting & Bluetooth and mp3 to play music in. Bluetooth pioneer speaker in living room too. Beautiful quiet countryside location. Very Close to all the pretty Cotswold villages. Stow on the Wold 15 mins drive away and a must to visit. Kingham village only 15 min walk through fields with 2 great gastro style pubs. Will definitely stay again soon."
Sonia - Feb 2022
"Very relaxing enjoyed our stay"
Denise - Jan 2022
"For a 2 night self catering break which I did not see the ridiculous check in and out times - 5pm check in so whole day lost and checkout 9am it would have been better value in a good hotel - I checked prices after and you can get a very good hotel with breakfast Inc for similar if not cheaper price"
Peter - Dec 2021
"Lovely place, lodges a little rammed in. Amazing places to eat locally"
Deb - Dec 2021
"Kitchen and living area has been updated since our last visit. Bathrooms, are a little tired and could do with an update, however, showers worked well with no fluctuation in temperature."
Clive - Dec 2021
"location was great, the park was clean and tidy. lodge itself was homely and had all the basic requirements. Local and surrounding areas where all within close driving distance and offered an array of things to see and do. Only downside to the lodge was an unsteady supply of hot water. Upon leaving the lodge we politely stripped the bed to find a suspicious stain on the mattress (yellow) patch."
Byron - Nov 2021
"Very spacious. Hot tub was good too!"
Beverley - Nov 2021
"Bed not big enough, and squeeked/noisy"
Mark - Oct 2021
"Cabin dated but clean. Location bit remote and no site facilities."
Diana - Sep 2021

Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens - OX18 4JP
about 8 Miles
This has to be one of the most popular days out in Oxfordshire and is sure to appeal to nature lovers, animal lovers and keen gardeners.  Families and couples will enjoy wandering around this amazing park with a wide variety of mammals and birds to see as well as reptiles. Some of the most popular animals are the Burrowing Owl, Dexter Cow, African Pancake Tortoise and the Bar Headed Goose.  Check out their website for the latest admission costs and special offers.
Farmer Gows - SN7 8DA
about 19 Miles
Farmer Gows is a recommended attraction in the Faringdon area of Oxfordshire and will be especially suited to families with young children.  The little ones will love coming to see the farm animals including pigs, cows and lambs.  The meet the animals session takes place every day and includes handling the animals, walking the goats, feeding the pigs and cows and egg collecting.  Look out for special seasonal events throughout the year such as the Halloween Party, Lambing and children's workshops.  The latest news from the farm is that they have some Saddleback piglets and Speckledy chicks arriving shortly.
Avon Leisure Cruises - BS8 4EB
about 22 Miles
Avon Leisure Cruises offer a relaxing way to spend an afternoon exploring the beautiful river and the sites all around it. The trips have commentary to point out places of historical importance and interest and are educational as well as fun. During school holidays the area is very popular with tourists and with families and daily activities can be enjoyed.
Pendon Indoor Model Village and Railways - OX12 8EA
about 24 Miles
This is an all weather attraction in Abingdon, Oxfordshire which will appeal to all ages.  The model trains are fascinating to watch and we love the model village in the Vale Scene.  The exhibits have been well thought out and it's a pleasure to wander around this museum looking at everything on offer.  You can be assured of a warm welcome from the moment you arrive and for kids and adults alike this makes a fun and educational day out.
Catanger Llama Trekking - NN12 8LJ
about 26 Miles
This is a really unique attraction and certainly worth a visit in our opinion.  Established in 1995 and situated in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside this attraction will appeal to those looking for something a little different.  You can't ride the animals but you can trek alongside them and enjoy the fantastic scenery.  From farm tracks to country lanes the gentle animals will carry your rucksack for you along the way.  There are personally guided treks available all year round and you will have your own Llama for the trek.
Studley Grange Garden and Leisure Park - SN4 9QT
about 26 Miles
Studley Grange Garden and Leisure Park is a fantastic attraction based in Swindon, Wiltshire.  For nature lovers and those who like to get out and explore this is the perfect day out.  It's also an all weather attraction with Butterfly World being part of the site.  Butterfly World is kept at around 85 degrees year round so this makes a perfect place to visit in all seasons. A visit to the Craft Village is also recommended where there are a wide range of handcrafted gifts.
Spetchley Park and Gardens - WR5 1RS
about 30 Miles
Spetchley Park and Gardens in Worcestershire are the perfect place for a day trip all year round. During the summer months the gardens are really at their best with beautiful displays of flora and fauna. Many families choose to bring a picnic and there are several picnic tables in the grounds. The deer park is also a big hit with children as well as grown ups. The onsite tea room serves tasty sandwiches and cakes and uses local produce where possible.
Old Dairy Farm Centre - PO30 2NB
about 31 Miles
Suited to families with children of all ages this is a fantastic attraction in Northamptonshire.  There are many special events held throughout the year so don't forget to check what's happening while you are staying in the region.  Some highlights include the lambing weekends and the monthly local food fayres.
Old Dairy Farm Country Shopping and Craft Centre - LE14 3PF
about 31 Miles
From shopping to home cooked refreshments this is a wonderful day out in the pretty village of Upper Stowe.  You can enjoy amazing views over the Northamptonshire countryside and wander around the complex of stone built farm buildings.  Each building houses something different such as the Occasions Florist, Itsy Bitsy Gifts, Hayrack Gallery and Sheer Delights Lingerie.  When it's time for a rest the Barn Restaurant and Tea Room is the place to go.  There is a small selection of animals at the centre too which younger children will love.  They currently have two Kune Kune pigs, sheep, hens and ducks.  If you are looking for upmarket holiday accommodation in the Northamptonshire area then the luxury lodges at Wicksteed Park are sure to impress.
