Forest Hills Lodges Reviews

"We stayed in this lovely, modern lodge and honestly, it was really well done. The place was spotless and super comfy, with high-quality fixtures and fittings. Its tucked away in a quiet spot, which was perfect for us. The only tiny gripe was the cheese grater-just being picky! Definitely planning to come back soon!"
Emma - Mar 2025
"Really enjoyed our time there, the place was lovely and we can't wait to return!"
Emma Carter - Feb 2025
"Really enjoyed the stay"
James - Jan 2025
"We had such a lovely stay! The lodge was really stunning and felt super luxurious, perfect for a Christmas getaway. The hot tub was a highlight after a long walk in the woods. And its great theyre dog friendly - no worries about our pup at all. Brilliant!"
Emma - Jan 2025
"Our Forest Hills Lodges review: The beds were firmer than what we're used to, so it took us a bit to settle in and get a good sleep. The sofas are really nice but quite low, which was a bit tricky given one of us has arthritis in their knees. Still, lovely lodges and a cute garden for the dog!"
Emma - Jan 2025
"Really enjoyed our stay! The place was spotless, beautifully decorated and perfectly located. Hosts were lovely."
Claire - Dec 2024
"Great place, feels just like being at home, honestly!"
Emma - Dec 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay! The lodge was spotless, super comfy and the hot tub was a highlight. Only suggestion is adding a screen around the hot tub for a bit more privacy. Thanks!"
James - Dec 2024
"Honestly, the lodges are top-notch! We stayed in the three-bed, three-bath Wentworth lodge with our dog and it really did blow us away. The decor, appliances and fixtures are all of a really high standard. Theres even a handy guide that explains everything, plus some good recommendations for local spots. Phil was fantastic - quick to help out if we had any issues, though mostly we just forgot to read the guide! Storm Bert tried to spoil our fun, but sitting in the hot tub in the rain was just perfect. Were already trying to figure out when we can come back again, it was that good!"
Emma - Nov 2024
"We had a lovely time at the Avon lodge. The place is super spacious, modern and so clean, with lovely views over the fields. Its south facing, which means plenty of sunshine and the cosy sofas and beds made it feel really homely. The heating was straightforward to use, so we stayed warm even in November. We loved sitting outside on the deck, especially with the hot tub just a few steps away. The daily checks on the hot tub gave us extra peace of mind. The welcome book was handy, full of useful info about the lodge and what to do nearby. A really relaxing break!"
Laura - Nov 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay in this cosy, modern cabin. It had all we needed and was a great base for exploring local walks and pubs."
Oliver - Nov 2024
"Wow, where do we start? Our recent stay at Forest Hills was honestly one of the best holidays we've had in ages. The location is just perfect-peaceful and private, yet close enough to some stunning spots like Symonds Yat, Brecon Beacons and even the buzz of Bristol and Cardiff, which are only about half an hour away. Its great for a family trip, but equally suited for a quiet retreat or romantic escape in the Forest of Dean. The lodge itself was spotlessly clean and really had everything we needed. The cosy central heating controlled via Hive kept us warm and the bedrooms were spacious enough for us all. The bathrooms, one for each room, were pristine and each had a powerful shower which was a real treat after a day out exploring. Our favourite part was definitely the open-plan living space - its huge! We loved being able to cook, play games and watch movies all together in one area. The smart TV with a soundbar was a lifesaver for Halloween movies and the kids loved the sweets the owners kindly brought round on the evening of the 31st. Such a lovely touch! Speaking of the owners, they are genuinely fantastic. They came to check we were settled in when we arrived and popped by with treats for the kids - you don't always get that level of personal care. The grounds are immaculate and peaceful, perfect for relaxing or exploring nature right on your doorstep. All in all, a brilliant place to make family memories. Were already planning our next visit - were definitely coming back! Forest Hills made our holiday extra special and well cherish these moments forever. Thanks again for such a memorable stay!"
Alexandra - Nov 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay here! The lodge was stunning, especially the big hot-tub. Perfectly situated for exploring so many nearby spots. Definitely recommend it! Thanks for a great week."
Emma - Nov 2024
"We had a fantastic stay! The lodge was well-equipped and comfy. Loved how peaceful it was, yet so close to Coleford and loads of activities nearby. Brilliant trip!"
Emma Carter - Nov 2024
"We had an incredible stay at this lodge! Its spacious, super modern and spotless. Everything we needed was there-central heating, en-suites, dishwasher, washer/dryer and even a hot-tub. Perfect for unwinding after exploring the beautiful countryside."
Oliver - Oct 2024
"Great stay, everything we needed in a comfy holiday home."
Laura Benson - Oct 2024
"We had a fantastic time! Theres so much to explore around the area, but honestly, relaxing in the lodges hot tub was a real highlight. Perfect for our family, ranging from 55 to 83, as theres plenty of space to hang out together or have some quiet time alone. Were already planning to come back soon!"
Emma - Oct 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay here with the dogs. The outdoor green spaces are perfect for walks and the lodges roomy enough for them to move around comfortably. Its a shame dogs arent allowed in the bedrooms because of the carpet, but they did give a nice dog bowl, which was a lovely touch. Definitely recommend!"
Emma - Sep 2024
"We had a lovely holiday! The Royal lodge was perfect-bright, airy and super comfy. Loads of activities and the nearby woodland walks made it even better. Definitely recommend!"
Emma - Sep 2024
"The cottage was charming and perfectly situated for our needs-peaceful and away from the busy crowds. The hot tub was a lovely bonus and the owners were really friendly without being overbearing. They've got it spot on!"
John - May 2025
"We had a lovely stay at this cottage! The place was spotless and had everything we needed. The dog walks right outside made it perfect for our pups. The host was super friendly and quick with replies. Meeting the animals, especially Penelope the pig, was such a highlight. Definitely coming back. Great value! Highly recommend."
Harriet - May 2025
"We had a lovely stay! The house was spotless, super comfy and the hot tub was a real treat."
Emma - May 2025
"We had such a lovely stay here! The owners are genuinely friendly and really thoughtful, making us feel welcome from the start. The cottage itself is adorable, with charming timber-framed walls and a cosy vibe that instantly felt like home. The shower was powerful and the bed super comfy. Parking right next to the cottage was a big bonus. Plus, the location is perfect for exploring the beautiful fields and charming village of Thaxted. Would definitely come back!"
Oliver - May 2025
"We had a fantastic stay! Sharon and Robert really made us feel at home, which was lovely. The place was spotlessly clean, comfortable and perfect for Archie with good security. The location was great for walks and visiting Thaxted and nearby villages was a real treat. Honestly, we left feeling totally refreshed - it was exactly what we needed for a relaxing break. Would definitely recommend!"
Emma - May 2025
"We had a lovely week here from 15 to 22 July with our two mini dachshunds, who absolutely loved the place! They made loads of new friends in the charming village of Thaxted. The cottage itself is really cosy and the hot tub was a real treat, especially during those scorching days when the water was nice and cool - very refreshing. The hosts were super friendly and welcoming, which made us feel right at home. Watching the planes land from the nearby flight path was pretty interesting too. Wed definitely recommend this spot - well be back!"
Emma - May 2025
"Really enjoyed our stay. The place was calm, cosy and perfect for dogs with the enclosed garden."
Amelia - May 2025
"We had a wonderful stay! The place was spotless and had all the essentials plus some lovely little touches that made it special. Highly recommend!"
