"The only thing we needed was a reclining chair as my disabled husband really struggled to get on and off the settee, also getting around to the patio was not possible as could not get past the table and chairs"
JULIE - May 2025
"Well equipped but basic. Some of the furniture looking a bit tired, but very comfortable"
Fiona - May 2025
"Moved from before arrival form lodge 15 to an owners lodge no 4 as hot tub broken for three weeks . Lodge 4 is stunning and in a great location and was very comfy but has maintenance issues and needs high level dusting in places .En-suite shower valve is faulty and dangerous can only have a safe shower turning water temp down on boiler .Drain for on en-suite sink loose and not screw connected so leaked on floor until pushed back in .Fridge defrost drain blocked and floods base of chiller cabinet .Shelves in fridge door broken and stuck with tape and too weak to hold items Steps need stonework repairing as loose and dangerous trip hazard.Ceiling lights in lounge and tall lampIn dining area need a good forms and dust as like feltIron washing had to for an to use and boiler cupboard needs a deep clean Smoke detector looks older then the 10Years they recommend and was weak so borrowed from reception may need replacing. Needs proper wifi , owner should provide a dongle or full broadband and not say go to reception its a luxury lodge and should have wifi.Reported all Issues to reception but no direct contact with owner so unsure how often they check it over Loved the lodge but missed out on being 10/10 or excellent due to above"
Ian - May 2025
"The lodge was clean and tidy, however could do with an update in areas."
Bradley - May 2025
"Had a great time, lodge was lovely, starting to look a little bit dated but still lovely and clean, beds were comfortable, not much elbow room in the en suite shower, everything you need for a break away, staff were brilliant, very pleasant"
Susan - May 2025
"Overall great management"
Helen - Apr 2025
"Our third stay as a group at Thanet Well lodges. Weve stayed in a different lodge each time but all have been great for our stay: clean, relatively well equipped and spacious. We had a few hiccups around missing dining room furniture (only 4 chairs in a 6 person lodge), tripped fuses (pesky toaster) and a surprise drained hot tub (oops) but nothing was too much hassle for the team who were happy to help and get everything sorted for us. The photos on the website dont quite translate to the lodge you stay in - so manage your own expectation when you walk through the door. Its never been an issue because the lodge has been suited for us but there are certainly differences. We love this site, we love the view, the location is ideal and we will absolutely be back again. Weve recommended to friends and will continue to do so - thank you!"
Ellie - Apr 2025
"Nice place, would visit again"
Martin - Mar 2025
"We recently stayed at Thanet Lodge Well Retreat and honestly, it was a lovely escape. The views are breathtaking, with fields and mountains all around, making it super peaceful and scenic. The lodges are spotless, modern and well-equipped - everything we needed was there, from comfy beds to warm showers. Heating was straightforward to control, which is a plus. They even provide dishwasher tablets, sponges and dish soap, so no fuss there, though we did bring some antibacterial wipes just in case. The hot tub was a highlight - always clean, checked daily and perfect temperature, with stunning vistas to enjoy. Location-wise, its good, with some nice pubs nearby like Odd Fellows Arms. All in all, a really pleasant few days away in a lovely place."
Emma - Mar 2025
"We had a great 4-night stay, honestly felt just like being at home. There were a couple of maintenance hiccups, but when I called reception, the plumber arrived almost immediately, which was handy. Apart from that, we all really enjoyed ourselves. Definitely planning to book again soon and already recommending it to family and friends!"
Jamie - Mar 2025
"Very relaxing, would recommend it."
James - Feb 2025
"Lovely peaceful and well equipped"
Mark - Feb 2025
"Fabulous! just short of coat hangers."
Dawn - Feb 2025
"Nice spot, but the lodges getting a bit tired, especially the boiler."
Emily - Feb 2025
"Great location lodge showing wear and tear especially the boiler"
Andrew - Feb 2025
"The cabin was really lovely and the views took our breath away. Cabin 3 was super tidy and felt more like a cosy little bungalow. Definitely recommend it!"
Jane - Jan 2025
"Please find attachedWe stayed in Thanet Well Lodge Retreat over this weekend for a nice weekend get away with friends. The staff were helpful when it came to planning activities/ things to do in the area. However there were a few things which did take us all by surprise whilst we stayed. When we first entered the lodge the heating was set on 12c which for 8pm on a wet rainy night isnt the most welcoming of temperature. We noticed the heating was on timer settings which really didnt help the situation. The lodge took a long time to heat up then as soon as it became almost a pleasant temperature the timer would turn off. The whole of our stay me and my friends slept with another duvet ontop of the bed to help remain warm. Its a good job we had all brought thermals because we didnt take them off the whole time The facilitys in the lodge all worked perfectly the only fault I will mention which became quite annoying throughout the stay was the draw handles/knobs kept coming off the draws. Not to mention the paint work continued to peel off the cupboards which made the place look a bit tacky. The final bother we were dealt with was the fact there was no real house keeping popping in to make the beds or change the towels. Or even top up the toilet paper! We were 5 lady lodgers who shared only 2 rolls of toilet paper, when we asked we were told we have to pay for toilet roll to get topped up. The overall experience was great but our actual stay / accommodation wasnt up to the standards of which I experienced when I stayed with yourselves 2 years ago."
Lily - Dec 2024
"Lovely lodge, spacious clean and tidy"
Claire - Dec 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay there."
Laura - Dec 2024
"We stayed with a group of six ladies and really enjoyed our time. The place was super clean and tidy and the rooms were quite spacious. The kitchen had everything we needed and the towels and bedding were fresh. Only small gripe was the radiator dust, which could do with a quick clean. When it snowed, it looked stunning, but the high winds blew the hot tub cover off. We reported it but it wasnt fixed, so we only used it on the first night."
Jessica Harper - Dec 2024
"6 ladies on a walking weekend, clean,. tidy, spacious accommodation may be radiator could.do with dust blown from them in the grid. .kitchen well equipped, clean towels, bedding .Only problem we had it snowed which was gorgeous but with the high winds the top.blew off the hot tub we did report it but it was not fixed so only used the hot tub on the 1st night of a 3 night stay."
Sam Clubbe - Dec 2024
"The lodge was fantastic, really spacious for our hyper cocker spaniel puppy to zoom around. The decking was secure and the hot tub was perfectly positioned, so it didnt spoil the view. Very clean and well-stocked with towels too."
Sarah Bennett - Nov 2024
"Enjoyed it very much, would definitely return"
Anthony - Jul 2022
"Lovely surroundings & luxury lodge with everything you need. Except wifi ? would be good to be able to stream tv eg Netflix etc Staff were extremely helpful & friendly. Our 3rd stay & will return"

Linda - Jul 2022

Attractions Near Thanet Well Lodge Retreat

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Thanet Well Lodge Retreat. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 11 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 11 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 12 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 17 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Mabie Farm Park - DG2 8EZ
about 35 Miles
Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 36 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre - NE48 1BT
about 36 Miles
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 38 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
