Hartsop Fold Reviews

"Really enjoyed the stay, peaceful place with amazing views! Will return."
Emma - Mar 2025
"Very peaceful, perfect for a quiet getaway, highly recommend!"
Laura Bennett - Mar 2025
"We loved the quiet, serene setting and the spotless lodge that had all we needed. The staff were genuinely warm and friendly, making us feel right at home. Lodge 12s views were stunning and theres plenty of lovely walks nearby. Definitely coming back!"
Emma Carter - Mar 2025
"We had such a lovely escape! The cabin was spot on, with everything we needed - from loo rolls to dishwasher tablets, they really thought of all the little details. The undercover porch with hooks, the drying room and comfy beds made our stay even better. The highlight was definitely relaxing in the hot tub surrounded by mountains - truly stunning. Honestly, we didnt want to leave. Everything was just perfect and well definitely be returning soon!"
Emma - Jan 2025
"Our Hartsop Fold review: We just got back from a festive week at Hartsop Fold and honestly, it was fantastic. The views were absolutely stunning, especially with the snow falling on our last day - really magical! Even though the place is pet-friendly, the lodges were surprisingly spotless, which we appreciated. Theyre well kitted out with smart TVs and a speaker, perfect for Christmas movie marathons and tunes. We loved the rechargeable torch/night light - so handy! The free laundry room was a godsend and kept everything tidy. The staff might be a bit rare to spot, but when we did see them, they were super friendly and helpful. The shower had great pressure, beds were cosy and the hot tub was just what we needed after climbing Red Screes. Thanks for a lovely holiday; were definitely coming back!"
Emily - Dec 2024
"We had a lovely time, everything was just right."
Michael - Sep 2024
"We loved our stay! Three days flew by before wed seen everything. Its such a stunning secret spot tucked away from everything. Perfect for anyone craving some peace and quiet. Well definitely be coming back!"
Emma Carter - Aug 2020
"We had an amazing time, the lodge was just perfect!"
Emma - Aug 2020
"We loved staying here! The lodge was super cosy and well-equipped. The decking with that stunning view was perfect. The heated porch was a lifesaver for wet clothes!"
Emma - Aug 2020
"We stayed at this lovely lodge and really appreciated how well thought out everything was. The hot tub and the drying room, though we didnt use it, definitely added to the appeal of choosing Hartsop. Its location is spot on for exploring Ullswater, which was perfect for us. Only thing wed suggest is raising the fencing by the veranda a bit - we felt a little exposed with four other verandas nearby. Still, its a fantastic spot for a peaceful getaway and wed happily return!"
Emily - Aug 2020
"Really enjoyed it, will return soon."
Oliver - Jul 2020
"The place was really comfortable and we loved the nice, quality utensils for cooking and dining. Great stay!"

"We had such a lovely stay! The lodge was super clean and cosy. Its perfect if youre after a quiet getaway but still want easy access to busier spots during the day. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful from start to finish. Loved the hot tub, laundry facilities and games. Definitely planning to come back soon - it was just perfect for us!"
Emma Collins - Mar 2020
"We really enjoyed our stay! The lodge was spotless and super modern, with a very comfy bed. The living area felt warm and cosy. An outdoor log burner wouldve made it perfect, but still a great experience!"
Alex - Feb 2020
"Really enjoyed our stay here"
Simon Edwards - Feb 2020

Claire - Feb 2020

James - Feb 2020

James - Feb 2020
"We loved the hideaway spot, its peaceful but close enough to explore nearby villages. The scenery is stunning and the waterfall just a short walk away is a real highlight! The lodge was super comfy and warm, plus that hot-tub was a lovely touch. And two mornings of F15s flying overhead? Amazing! Definitely recommend, especially outside peak season for the best deal."
Lucy - Feb 2020
"The staff really made our stay enjoyable, always ready to lend a hand and super friendly. We heard the WiFi wasnt great in reviews, but honestly, we had no problems at all. Watched loads on tablets and phones, all smooth sailing for us four! Definitely recommend."

Attractions Near Hartsop Fold

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Hartsop Fold. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 2 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 4 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 17 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 22 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 25 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 26 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 29 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
