There is also an on site Launderette.

Accommodation at Avon Wood is in caravans or lodges. The Ambleside retreat lodge is perfect for a couple with one double bedroom, private hot tub and complimentary wine and chocolates on arrival. Avon Wood Reviews

"A lovely very large lodge, with hot tub, found it very comfortable, but found the hot tub had a strange design inside, but it may be we are too old now. Like our tubs to have proper seats."
Cynthia - May 2024
"We had such a fantastic stay at the Rydal retreat. The lodge itself was absolutely beautiful and immaculate and the views are incredible! The hot tub after a day of walking up mountains was a massive treat. I cannot fault our stay. We had a lovely welcome package on arrival too. This was our first time at the Lake District and at Avon Wood and we loved it so much we have actually booked to stay here again in April. Albeit there isnt much around unless you drive about 10 minutes, thats just what we wanted. So much peace and quiet. Also, at the very bottom of the park you can access the lake from a little slipway its so sweet. Definitely take your kayaks with you. The hosts were wonderful. Highly Recommend Avon Wood. Thank you for a lovely stay. :)"
Rachel - Nov 2023
"Beautiful Perfect place to relax after a day of exploring"
Verified Guest - Nov 2023
"Very good all round and have booked for next year"
Mark Collins - Nov 2023
"Absolutely beautiful lodge in an even more beautiful setting. Facilities were fantastic and not needing for anything. The welcome pint of milk was most appreciated for that first cuppa after a long drive. Christine was really helpful with all the pre-visit checks so we knew exactly what to take and what to leave behind. The spa was a first but lovely to slip in to at the end of a long day's walk.If there was any kind of downside it would be that you definitely need your car to get anywhere as there are no footpaths running past the site. We did manage a short walk around site but it was very short. Would go again and would recommend ????"
Chris - Nov 2023
"This was a very relaxing holiday in a very luxurious lodge . It was equipped exceptionally well with everything you would need . The hot tub was lovely and the treats in the fridge a lovely touch . We have no negative things to say as it was a fantastic holiday and even the weather played ball ."
Claire - Nov 2023
"The only thing that I would recommend is to have some mattress toppers available. The bed is quite firm (which is understandable). The location of the site is perfect for getting around the lakes. The welcome pack of prosecco and chocolates is a beautiful touch."
Chris Thorpe - Nov 2023
"Can not fault this holiday in any way. The area is amazing and the accommodation was just as good."
Steve - Nov 2023
"Too far away from amenities .had to use our car every day just to get anywhere."
David Ross - Nov 2023
"Back from another week at Avon Wood. We love visiting, this was our fourth time. As per previous visits, the lodge was spot on - all the equipment you can think of. Christine and Andrew are so helpful and kind. I would recommend Avon Wood to all. Thank you !"

Attractions Near Avon Wood

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Avon Wood. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 10 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 10 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 13 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 15 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 16 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 28 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Bowland Wild Boar Park - PR3 2QT
about 31 Miles
Head for the Bowland Wild Boar park and we don't think you will be disappointed.  A popular attraction in Preston there is so much to do for the whole family.  From picnics, walks and wildlife to experiencing feeding the animals you are sure to have a memorable day out.  Also popular is the kids tractor play area.  For rest and relaxation the cafe is ideal serving hot drinks and snacks with a lovely view over the pond and wildlife feeding station.  The Forest of Bowland has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
