"Really loved the peaceful surroundings here"
Emma - Mar 2025
"We had such a lovely weekend here! The location is great - away from all the busy tourist spots but close enough for a quick drive into Coniston village. The lodge was really well-equipped and modern, definitely a place we'd stay again. The only tiny hiccup was the Wi-Fi dropping a couple of times, probably because of the storm. Still, overall, a great stay!"
Alex - Jan 2025
"Thank you for a fantastic weekend stay. It is perfectly set away from the noise of tourist spots but close enough to Coniston village for a drive in. The lodge was very well kitted out, it was modern & we would 100% re-book. The only minor issue was that the wi-fi went off a couple of times, but this was possibly down to the stormy weather."
Dale - Jan 2025
"Our Crake Valley review: We really enjoyed our stay at Tarn Hows. The cabin was beautiful-spotlessly clean, with underfloor heating that kept us cosy. The bathroom was spacious and well-appointed and the kitchen had everything we needed. The hot tub was a real highlight-so relaxing! The area was incredibly peaceful, perfect for unwinding. The only downside was the Wi-Fi situation; satellite Wi-Fi didnt work at all during our visit and the parks free Wi-Fi was unreliable. We ended up watching Film4 for three days straight because of it, which was a bit dull but still a nice break overall."
Lucy - Jan 2025
"We absolutely loved staying here! The rural setting was so peaceful and the courtyard was gorgeous. The hot-tub really made it special. Perfect spot for countryside walks, would visit again!"
Olivia - Jan 2025
"We stayed just behind Lodge Seventeen, which felt nice and private. The open-plan living area leads straight into the kitchen and its surprisingly roomy. The place is beautifully decorated and fully equipped with everything you could need in the kitchen. The bedroom was a good size, featuring a walk-in wardrobe, bedside tables, a TV and drawers, plus the bathroom was attached - the only one on-site. The bed was incredibly comfy, though at 62, I found it a bit small for two, but it didnt ruin our stay. The hot tub was already heated when we arrived and was well maintained throughout our visit. Wed definitely come back again!"
Emily Carter - Nov 2024
"Pretty decent"
James Carter - Oct 2024
"Excellent affordable"
Robert - Oct 2024
"Due to time of year, the lodge was very good value. Due to our struggles with our old dog slipping and falling on the wood style floor we did consider leaving after the 1st night but persevered and enjoyed our walks in the beautiful location. The park would suit younger dogs and keen walkers but unfortunately didn't suit our needs currently."
Dorothy - Oct 2024
"The place was really lovely, super peaceful and relaxing. Perfect for dogs with the fully enclosed garden."
Amelia - Oct 2024
"Really enjoyed our walk, the fields were beautiful and the dogs loved every minute of it!"

CYRIL - May 2024
"Really pleased with the value, especially for the price. Itd be great if they offered monthly discounts on dogs for those staying longer. Makes a difference!"
Oliver - Apr 2024
"We stayed at Copse Howe and found it surprisingly spacious for just the two of us. The kitchens pretty basic, so not ideal if you love cooking, but its perfect for quick bites or eating out. Super clean and modern too!"
Martin - Mar 2024
"Looking forward to our next visit!"
Sarah - Feb 2024
"The hosts really went above and beyond, making our stay super relaxing. Well be telling all our friends about this place!"
Alexei - Dec 2023
"We had an amazing weekend here and really enjoyed our stay. The place was perfect for what we needed and the garden kept our pups entertained for ages. They especially loved the underfloor heating, which was a bonus! Luna was wagging her tail so much she strained it-poor thing! Definitely coming back soon, we all had a great time."
Sam - Oct 2023

Harriet - Jul 2020
"Great spot, perfect for family getaways."
Rachel - Feb 2020
"We recently stayed at the Acorn Lodge in Crake Valley and honestly, it was a lovely escape. The location is quite tucked away, a bit off the beaten track from the main park, which gave it a peaceful vibe. The private garden and hot tub were perfect for unwinding, especially with the stunning views of the hills. The highlight was definitely Sunday morning in the hot tub, as it had snowed overnight, making everything look so magical. The nearby lake and woods made for nice walks to clear our heads. We really enjoyed the whole stay and would recommend it. One thing Id suggest is leaving some mops in the bathrooms and living area-getting in and out of the hot tub can get quite slippy, so a little more grip would be helpful. We were even tempted to buy the place, its that nice!"
Jamie - Dec 2019

Attractions Near Crake Valley

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Crake Valley. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU
about 9 Miles

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 11 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Lakeland Wildlife Oasis - LA6 1JH
about 15 Miles
Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 17 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Happy Mount Park - LA4 5AQ
about 18 Miles
Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 27 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Bowland Wild Boar Park - PR3 2QT
about 35 Miles
Head for the Bowland Wild Boar park and we don't think you will be disappointed.  A popular attraction in Preston there is so much to do for the whole family.  From picnics, walks and wildlife to experiencing feeding the animals you are sure to have a memorable day out.  Also popular is the kids tractor play area.  For rest and relaxation the cafe is ideal serving hot drinks and snacks with a lovely view over the pond and wildlife feeding station.  The Forest of Bowland has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
