Cheddar Woods Resort and Spa FAQs

Where is Cheddar Woods Resort & Spa?

Cheddar Woods Resort & Spa is set on the slopes of the Mendip Hills in Cheddar, Somerset. It's a truly beautiful part of the UK which is famous for its Limestone hills which rise to over 1000 feet. Here you'll find caves, including the Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, and Gough's Cave.

Where can you park?

Parking is nice and easy here as you can park right next to your lodge. You can leave your car there for the duration of your stay.

Can I bring my own cot bed?

Yes but mattresses or bedding cannot be provided for cots, and some accommodation types may not have sufficient space to accommodate a cot bed.

Can you get Tesco, Asda and other shopping delivered here?

Yes, you can get shopping delivered here. Just set the delivery slot to after 6pm and give the name of your lodge. This a brilliant idea that I saw someone doing on a lodge break. Why spend hours packing and unpacking your food and supplies when you can get it directly delivered to your door?

Is there a shop at Cheddar Woods Resort?

Yes, there is a small shop where you can buy the essentials you might need for your break.

Can you rent a high chair?

Yes, high chairs area available at Cheddar Woods either at the time of your booking, or when you get there. The fee is £15 for the length of your stay.

Is there an enclosed space for pets?

If you're taking your dog with you to Cheddar Woods Resort, you have a dedicated enclosed decking area and the lodges have gates that will keep pets from harm.

Cheddar Woods Resort and Spa Reviews

"Kitchen was well equipped Lodge was nice and clean Although it was worn and alittle datedBedroom was tiny with not much space to walk around or get dressed"

"It's a lodge clean lodge. Great hot tub and facilities. The only downside is it needs no sofas as the cushions weren't that comfortable"
Nicola - May 2024
"Great holiday accommodation was fabulous the scenery and surrounding area amazing cant wait to book and go back again"
Verified Guest - May 2024
"Very nice property and groundsWe were close to a main road so that was noisy in the morning Very dog friendly. The girl working in the bar can't pull a pint of Doom Bar at all, she needs some advice."
Michael - May 2024
"Lovely lodge, hot tub perfect, location was great, nice bar / restaurant"
Suzanne - May 2024
"Lodge needs updating bit tired. Would not really call it Premier. No toiletries. Could do with coffee machine ."
Hazel - May 2024
"Good accommodation for two people, would be a bit tight for 4 adults, lounge furniture a bit tired, location & view limited but very quiet. We were behind reception, never heard any noise. This was the 2nd time at Cheddar Wood cant wait to return."
Verified Guest - May 2024
"Found a few items inside and outside the lodge on arrival which suggests it hadnt been cleaned thoroughly.Overall it was a lovely lodge."
Verified Guest - May 2024
"Place was clean, tidy and had ample space for 5 of us + 1 dog, I would imagine with 8 people possibly sleeping in there it would get a bit crowed as the hallway was narrow, table was to small for 8 people. There was also only room for two cars at the most outside this lodge, but ample car parking down the way."
Phil - May 2024
"More mirrors, showers both where poor"
Cheryl - May 2024
"Me, my husband and son came to stay Tuesday to Friday , we had the best time.Hot tub was amazing Lodge was so clean, spacious & had all facilities Great location in cheddar. We had such a lovely time, would come back"

Verified Guest - May 2024
"Lodge was spacious but very tired, could do with modernising. Hot tub was very good, lodge could have been cleaner, felt some areas were missed. Generally good although feel the bar and restaurant was quite expensive"
Ian - May 2024
"Very reasonably priced break and in lovely surroundings. Everything you need is to hand.Lots of nice places to visit in close proximity."
Verified Guest - May 2024
"We booked to stay at Cheddar Woods as it boasted good facilities for our two year old and was located near to some good places that we wanted to visit (Cheddar gorge, National Trust properties and the West Somerset Railway). The price we paid seemed fair for the three bed lodge we had secured. The lodge itself had seen some wear and tear and could have done with some TLC - some of the kitchen doors were broken and the furnishings were a bit battered but everything functioned as it should. The shower over the bath leaked onto the bathroom floor meaning it was like a paddling pool when you had finished. The on-site facilities were OK. The outdoor playground was a hit with our two year old. He loved to spot the wildlife on site. The bistro served food during the day and into the early evening (no breakfast offered which we think is a big opportunity missed). The bar closed quite early in the evening so be aware of that. What disappointed us the most was the swimming pool facilities. Like other Darwin Escapes locations, the pool had very restrictive opening times as it was being made available for activities and private arrangements (e.g. swimming lessons) so that really restricted when you could visit to times during the day when you wanted to be out exploring. But what was most annoying is that they would close the pool with no notice for staff training. Why couldnt this be done outside of the core hours which were already restricted as it was? We mentioned this to reception but they didnt have an answer for us. The ladies on reception werent always very affable. Overall an ok base for exploring and not bad facilities on site but could be better."
Sarah - May 2024
"The under counter fridge was way too small"
Verified Guest - May 2024
"The lodge and setting is beautiful. The lodge is spacious and clean. The only thing is the accessibility needs were not met. So my independence was took away as I had to ask for help. This was due to no shower seat, toilet rail or shower rail. Had these been in place it would made the holiday so much better."
Verified Guest - May 2024
"If youre going to Cheddar Woods then dont stay in a Mendip lodge. Its old and cramped and when you report theres things need fixing ( which there will be ) dont go to reception as they look down their nose at you ( unless you get Tanya the only professional one ) and dont hold your breath waiting for maintenance.. they said theyd be back and didnt bother !"
Verified Guest - May 2024
"Used by the Bride and Groom as an after reception getaway. The attention to detail is unfortunately lacking and an ant infestation Ruined what should have been a relaxing break."
Brian Long - May 2024
"Liked the cabin, very nice and clean. Lovely furniture. Some more space for cots for little ones would be great in rooms but overall very happy."
Verified Guest - May 2024
"Will be back"
Ron - May 2024
"Lodge was spacious comfortable and homely, and the kitchen was well equipped to cook dinner, however the side gate was missing on our lodge which encloses the decking area."
Amy - May 2024
"the lodge at cheddar woods was lovely and clean and plenty of space between all the lodges some holiday parks are packed in tight but these were just right"
Verified Guest - May 2024
"It was a lovely lodge. Certain things just need tweaking. The grouting in shower cubicle needs to be scrubbed. A few other little things that just need cleaning or fixing. All in all it is an amazing lodge."
Maria - May 2024
"Very good a few little issues with lodge not as expected considering cost but overall a lovely site"
Barbara - Aug 2022
"lovely stay in Burrington Premier, the restaurant staff were very accommodating and efficient. great overall experience and would definitely return."
Eve - Aug 2022
"We had a fantastic time at the Cheddar resort and spa. We took our daughter who is 6 and newphew 12 and niece 14. The resort has great facilities with tennis, bastketball, football and we signed up for some of the Go active activities sea scooters and sea kayaks were a hit. Our daughter also enjoyed the pirates paradise. The pool is fabulous, clean and modern. We visited on the first week of the school holidays and it never felt too busy. Go active staff were great."
