Cheddar Woods Resort and Spa FAQs

Where is Cheddar Woods Resort & Spa?

Cheddar Woods Resort & Spa is set on the slopes of the Mendip Hills in Cheddar, Somerset. It's a truly beautiful part of the UK which is famous for its Limestone hills which rise to over 1000 feet. Here you'll find caves, including the Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, and Gough's Cave.

Where can you park?

Parking is nice and easy here as you can park right next to your lodge. You can leave your car there for the duration of your stay.

Can I bring my own cot bed?

Yes but mattresses or bedding cannot be provided for cots, and some accommodation types may not have sufficient space to accommodate a cot bed.

Can you get Tesco, Asda and other shopping delivered here?

Yes, you can get shopping delivered here. Just set the delivery slot to after 6pm and give the name of your lodge. This a brilliant idea that I saw someone doing on a lodge break. Why spend hours packing and unpacking your food and supplies when you can get it directly delivered to your door?

Is there a shop at Cheddar Woods Resort?

Yes, there is a small shop where you can buy the essentials you might need for your break.

Can you rent a high chair?

Yes, high chairs area available at Cheddar Woods either at the time of your booking, or when you get there. The fee is £15 for the length of your stay.

Is there an enclosed space for pets?

If you're taking your dog with you to Cheddar Woods Resort, you have a dedicated enclosed decking area and the lodges have gates that will keep pets from harm.

Cheddar Woods Resort and Spa Reviews

"Lovely lodge, family bathroom would have been better with a proper show but lots of room"
Verified Guest - Sep 2024
"Lodge is very overpriced for what it is. It could do with a whole new revamp. It was very dated and looked worn out. The coffee table was broken and not secure with huge nails hanging out of it. The master bed looked like it was ready to fall apart. Being held together with a plank of wood in the middle. Cleanliness wasn't great. Cobwebs and ant traps all over place."
Kevin - Aug 2024
"We had to go to the shop and buy tea towels and dusters and cleaning spray and toilet rolls and dishwasher tablets"
Verified Guest - Aug 2024
"Holiday lodge was outstanding, clean, spacious and very comfy beds. TV in each room which was great, all appliances were in perfect working order. Staff on resort were always polite and helpful. The restaurant I wouldnt recommend eating there. We did the BBQ on the Sunday evening booked a table for 6pm and by then had already run out of chicken and still had several hours left to serve people. Messed our order up, so we landed up with some eating whilst the others had to wait. We then booked Italian night on the Thursday 6pm table booked, again order messed up. Pizzas were not fresh pizzas, the prawn linguine had 4 prawns in it and no taste. For a venue of such high standard and isnt cheap to stay there they really need to up their game with restaurant. It would also have been nice if they offered breakfast in the restaurant but again this wasnt an option."
Yvette - Aug 2024
"We stayed as a family of 5 in Clifon elegance Lodge. It was spacious but in need of refurbishment, a lot of general damage and not the cleanest of places. That said we still had a great holiday. The park is well located to explore the local area and plenty to do. We didn't utilise any of the go active activities, however we did use the bistro on a couple of occasions which was good/average."
Verified Guest - Aug 2024
"We couldnt fault it at all. Everything was perfect!"
Millie - Jul 2024
"Lodge starting to look a little shabby"
Verified Guest - Jul 2024
"Really comfortable stay and we enjoyed using the hot tub."
Verified Guest - Jul 2024
"Club house closed at 9pm during week and bar open till 10 pm Saturday and Sunday. Advertised golf simulator which was not there. Some chalets had up to 4 cars making passing difficult. Staff friendly. No real walking area for dogs as top field closed due to adders. Swimming pool closed for periods but let out to local school children. Would be a great holiday location If facilities stayed open later. Was able to bring dog into facility with exception of restaurant."
Verified Guest - Jul 2024
"Accommodation is clean and spacious with everything you need. The hot tub is very good. Only issue in our accommodation was that one bedroom was overrun with ants/flying ants. Several ant traps were in place so the problem was known but not mentioned when booking in. My three year old grandson picked up one of the traps asking what it was. Would have been helpful to know in advance."
Garry - Jul 2024
"Beautiful lodge with beautiful furniture and fittings. Fully equipped with everything you could need including a dish washer and washing machine. Really clean considering dogs allowed. No faults at all."
Charlene - Jul 2024
"Great location lots of good walks Facilities swimming pool steam room and sauna relaxing Lodge comfortable but a little tired need a deep clean Beds comfortable Open space Staff accommodating"

"Lovely relaxing holiday"
Verified Guest - Jul 2024
"Cabin very old and tired, needs a full renovation! The marketing pictures are not accurate to what you actually find in cabin."
Verified Guest - Jul 2024
"Excellent location and site is very well kept. Lodge wasnt the normal Darwin escapes standard which was very disappointing. We stayed in the cheddar lodge premier, definitely wasnt premier. The lodge was in need of improvement and general repairs. Carpets were in need of a good clean. Hot tub was excellent!Lesson learnt make sure I book a lodge that doesnt allow dogs as you could tell there had been dogs in there. Would return to the site but would be careful which lodge I booked."
Verified Guest - Jul 2024
"Great lodge, with good facilities"
Verified Guest - Jul 2024
"Very nice lodge, sadly let down by lots of small things like no utensils for the BBQ, no welcome pack (is it too much to ask for a pint of milk and a few bits for a Premier lodge?) No kitchen roll, hand-wash in any room, only 2 of the most awful quality loo rolls provided for a 4 person, 4 night stay, lack of bin bags etc - all the things you shouldn't really have to bring.Terrible, tiny fridge & freezer. Temp dial broken on fridge so our food was barely kept cold.Only ONE dishwasher tablet provided for the whole week.Hot tub wasn't checked or maintained once during our stay.Raised some issues with staff at reception on different days, some were great and very helpful, some not so.On site facilities are great as is the location. For the price they charge for a lodge they really need to improve the little things.Lodge it's wasn't very clean with old empty milk sachets under beds, bath towels stained.Such a shame as it could be so much better."
Michael - Jul 2024
"The Lodge was spacious, although there were only 2 adults, bedrooms spacious with plenty storage. The only cleanliness 'issue' we had was the windows could have done with a really good clean. They were covered in cobwebs/spiders and general dust and dirt. The sofas could also do with new cushion padding for sitting on as these were very 'thin'. Apart from these everything was value for money."
Verified Guest - Jul 2024
"Grotty lodge needs a deep clean"
Debbie - Jul 2024
"Would we stay again? No.Our lodge - number 14 - was tired to say the least. Most wardrobe doors showed signs of water damage and some kitchen cabinet doors showed signs of damage. The unit smelled like dirty feet, that's when we realised it was pet friendly, so can probably put the smell down to that. There is a road that runs across the back of the lodge so there is some road noise during the night/very early morning.Cleanliness was ok, the bin was very dirty, there were a few dirty marks on kitchen splashbacks, scuff marks on some walls and very dirty down the side of the armchair (we didn't check the setees).Remote controls were hit and miss, some worked, some didn't work properly and one needed new batteries. Some of the slats on one of the beds collapsed when our son sat on it, some of the fixings were loose, it was fixed straight away by site maintenance. There is no real privacy in the hot tub as lodges are quite close together. For us having no on site entertainment was fine and preferred, we ate in the restaurant once, staff serving were lovely, food was ok.Shhh"
Verified Guest - Jul 2024
"This was a beautiful lodge with a nice perfect location.Lovely homely feel and some nice fixtures and fittings in the lodge. The hot tub was amazing and there was a perfect outdoor seating area. The facilities on the site were brilliant! Perfect restaurant and games. The bar was good and the prices were reasonable.Lovely place to go for a relaxing break and plenty to do!"
Verified Guest - Jul 2024
"Great lodge with everything you could need for your stay. Nice and clean, although some window latches are broken which could be draughty in winter."
Verified Guest - Jul 2024
"This place is in a great central location however a lot of the lodges & hot tubs are getting very tired now compared to other hoseason lodges. Grounds were kept immaculate ,our lodge faced a hedge so no sun all day & no view it was very dark, There were also a lot of hen partys & were a bit loud large groups in hot tubs but hopefully this is just the time of year . Overall its a decent place"
Steve - Jul 2024
"Very good a few little issues with lodge not as expected considering cost but overall a lovely site"
Barbara - Aug 2022
"lovely stay in Burrington Premier, the restaurant staff were very accommodating and efficient. great overall experience and would definitely return."
Eve - Aug 2022
"We had a fantastic time at the Cheddar resort and spa. We took our daughter who is 6 and newphew 12 and niece 14. The resort has great facilities with tennis, bastketball, football and we signed up for some of the Go active activities sea scooters and sea kayaks were a hit. Our daughter also enjoyed the pirates paradise. The pool is fabulous, clean and modern. We visited on the first week of the school holidays and it never felt too busy. Go active staff were great."
Michelle - Aug 2022
"Beautiful place, good facilities. Good place for families with kids."

Some of the highlights include the zebras, the wallabies in wallaby wood and the sea lion escorted cruise to Gorilla Island.  And of course the magnificent lions and tigers are a must see.  This really is an animal experience with a difference and you can save money by booking your tickets online.  This attraction is open until the end of October. Check out their website to see some fantastic video podcasts of the park.
