Rivendale Lodge Retreat Reviews

"We loved our stay! The place was super cosy and had a modern vibe. The only thing was the leather sofa-so we ended up watching TV from bed, which worked fine. Overall, it was a really beautiful spot, no complaints at all!"
Charlotte - May 2025
"We stayed at a lovely lodge, super clean and really well presented. The only hiccup was trying to figure out the touch screen oven. Being not exactly tech-savvy, we spent ages fiddling with it and in the end, just ordered a takeaway instead! Itd be great if they had some simple instructions or a quick guide for folks like us who arent so comfortable with modern gadgets. Still, overall, a great stay!"
George - Apr 2025
"We had a fantastic time! The lodge exceeded our expectations - it was so spacious and spotless. Being in a group of four, we appreciated how comfy and airy it felt. Definitely a place wed return to without hesitation. Highly recommend!"
Sarah - Apr 2025
"We really enjoyed our stay! Perfect spot for bringing bikes to explore the Tissington Trail. The lodges are spotless and modern, definitely recommend it."
Amelia - Mar 2025
"Our Rivendale Lodge Retreat review: Overall, we had a lovely stay at the treehouse. The only downside was the WiFi didn't quite reach the hot tub area, so no music downstairs. The hot tub itself couldve been better; some jets werent working and the handle was broken, which is understandable given how much theyre used. Despite that, wed definitely stay here again - its a cosy spot with a lot of charm!"
Emma Carter - Mar 2025
"The lodge was really spacious and had everything we needed, including a built-in wine cooler-lovely touch!"
Sam - Dec 2024
"The treehouse was pretty fantastic really. It felt open and comfy at the same time, which we loved. Everything we needed was there, though we did have a tiny issue with the shower draining slowly. We just managed to get by and the staff said theyd sort it out before the next guest. The hot tub was a real highlight - just needed some fiddling with the jets, but once sorted, it was ace!"
Oliver - Oct 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay - the place was spotless, cosy and had everything we needed. The hot tub was a real bonus too! Definitely recommend."
Mark - Oct 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay. The lodge was lovely and perfect for a family getaway. Just wish the drive was easier!"
Clara - Sep 2024
"Absolutely loved our stay, the views were breathtaking and relaxing!"
James - Jul 2024
"The lodge was super cosy and spotless, really warm too. Shame about the weather, but the surroundings are still lovely to explore."
Claire - Jul 2024
"We had a lovely stay! The bed was super comfy, bathroom was beautiful and the kitchen was well-equipped. Definitely coming back!"
Sophie - Jun 2024
"We had a lovely 3-day escape, exploring charming towns and picturesque countryside. The highlight was definitely relaxing in the hot tub with stunning views of the green fields. The Tissington tree house truly stands out on the resort!"
David - May 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge was lovely!"
Chris - Apr 2024
"Comfortable stay, would recommend"
Ellie Carter - Apr 2024
"Lovely stay"
Ella Johnson - Apr 2024
"Really happy with everything, staff went out of their way to help."
Emily Carter - Mar 2024
"Weve visited a few times now and really love the lodge-such a cosy spot. However, the cleanliness wasnt up to scratch; my wife ended up cleaning the kitchen herself. Also, the toilet seat kept falling and the kitchen blind fell on her. Still, a lovely place overall!"
Rachel - Mar 2024
"We had such a lovely stay here! The lodge really does tick all the boxes - everything is thoughtfully provided and the appliances are top-notch. It was great being able to control the heating ourselves, especially since it was chilly outside. We spent quite a bit of time in the hot tub, which my husband and I absolutely loved. The staff really go the extra mile; they checked on us daily and responded super quickly when we had a door lock issue - they fixed it within ten minutes of us mentioning it. Were already planning our return. Such a gem amidst stunning scenery and Dawins customer service is spot on!"
Linda - Mar 2024
"We recently stayed at the Bakewell Lodge with our dog for a long weekend and honestly, it was quite a lovely stay. The lodge itself was comfortable and well-kept and the retreat had a cosy vibe. Theres plenty of places around to grab a bite, but youll need a car to explore most sights - so keep that in mind. The on-site pub/restaurant was convenient and added to the relaxing feel. The only downside was the check-in and check-out times; we couldnt get into the lodge until 5pm on the Friday and had to leave by 9am Monday, which felt a bit tight - we paid for four days but only really had three. Still, overall, a nice spot if youre after some quiet countryside time."
Jessie - Feb 2024
"We had a lovely weekend here! The hot tub in the lodge was a real treat and the walks nearby are perfect for a bit of relaxing. The on-site bar and restaurant are great value, too. Easy to get to local towns and attractions, whether by foot or car. Definitely recommend for a chilled escape!"
Alex Carter - Feb 2024
"Comfortable stay, friendly staff."
Jamie - Jan 2024
"We had a really good stay at the lodge. Its modern, super clean and spacious - perfect for our group. The hot tub was definitely a highlight, so relaxing! There were a few tiny issues, like the kitchen knives being pretty blunt and tricky to use and the frying pan was a bit small for feeding everyone, but nothing major. The oven gloves looked a bit worn and a fruit bowl wouldve been handy, but again, nothing that ruined our trip. Overall, wed happily return, as these are just small niggles in an otherwise great place."
Jessica - Dec 2023
"We had a wonderful stay! The cottage was cosy, loved the hot tub and log burner. Hosts were lovely, very peaceful spot. Can't wait to come back!"
Lucy - Dec 2023
"Lovely stay, wouldnt hesitate to come back again."
Martin - Nov 2023
"Really enjoyed staying there, everything was just right."
Jess - Nov 2023
"The place was ideal for us and our dog, super private and secure. The modern treehouse feels cosy but stylish, giving us a proper little escape. Wed definitely come back soon!"
Harper - Sep 2023
"We really enjoyed our stay overall, the views were stunning and it felt pretty secluded from any other lodges, which was nice. That said, there were a few things that slightly marred the experience. The check-in time at 5pm felt a bit late, especially since we could only check out at 10am the next day - coming so far, it seemed a bit unfair. Also, when we arrived, we found a used tampon applicator in one of the bedrooms, which was quite off-putting. Under the sofa, we discovered some kids balls, which made us wonder how thorough the cleaning really was during those 9-5 hours. Plus, running out of loo roll and being unable to get more from reception was frustrating. Still, these are minor issues and overall, theyre easily fixable. Wed happily come back again - the location and scenery make it worth it!"
Charlie - Jul 2023
"The lodge was really cosy and spotless, with a nice open-plan lounge - perfect for relaxing. The only thing was, the bedrooms felt a tad small, but overall, we loved it!"
Samantha - Jul 2023
"Perfect family week . The lodge was spotless the grounds perfect and the staff were amazing !!! Would definitely recommend and would love to return"
Rachel - Aug 2022
"Bakewell Lodge had all facilities of home, really clean. Had a great holiday, would recommend it to family and friends. Will come back."
Christine - Aug 2022
"We loved the holiday it was fab, the only downside was in the lodge the oven /microwave was to high up in lodge 30 and it was a bit dangerous as I at to stand on a chair to get the hot food out"
Susan - Aug 2022
"We stayed 4 nights in the Buxton and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Great location, central to all the places we wanted to see. Lodges are well placed on the site, deck was secluded and peaceful."
Mel - Aug 2022
"Stunning Lodge which was well equipped and modern. Beautiful surroundings. Staff so so helpful, nothing too much trouble, which really helped after a long car journey with our two young children. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for lovely quality modern accommodation, in a peaceful tranquil setting, with helpful staff. The only reason it didn't all receive a 10/10 was because mobile reception was quite poor from the lodge (likely due to the locations/hills/rural setting) and there was no pool or park or other facilities for children (perhaps why it was so peaceful!)."
Kathryn - Aug 2022
"We stayed in the Tissington Treehouse and found it absolutely perfect, it was spotlessly clean, comfortable and surprisingly spacious. Treats and a prezzie for our dog was a fabulous touch, being crazy dog people this really was a lovely gesture."
Jorgen - Aug 2022
"Had a fantastic holiday, management and staff were amazing. Close to different places of interest. Would definitely recommend"
Joanne - Aug 2022
"Very nice lodges, good grounds. We noticed a lack of facilities for kids, no play area, no green space to kick a ball etc. Also lacking walks for dogs local to the cabins crossing the road to the Tissington Trail was challenging, would be better in the local council installed footpaths either side of the A515. I am sure the site can push this issue."
Jon - Aug 2022
"Beautiful lodge, we loved our stay. Reception staff very helpful. Restaurant staff there was some room for improvement. We will definitely visit again."
Kylie - Aug 2022
"The lodge we has was beautiful. It faced away from the other lodges and looked out at the hedges and pool which was so peaceful and relaxing. The dog wash is a fabulous facility. We love that the area between and around lodges has been kept wild and we saw a great many birds which was fabulous and so peaceful and relaxing. The hot tub was checked twice a day and it was amazing! The lodge itself was very clean and all facilities fabulous - the only mark down is that the car park space for our lodge was quite a long walk from the lodge itself and the light in the dog wash only stayed on for about 30 seconds. Otherwise idyllic and perfect - we will be going back."
Janet - Aug 2022
"Beautiful lodge, with comfy beds and great facilities."
Carley - Aug 2022
"Had a lovely stay! Lodge was very spacious, clean and facilities were very good."
Carol - Jul 2022
"Wonderful staff and great food. Very welcoming."

The admission fee is excellent value for money and parents can sit down and enjoy a drink while the children play. A new baby changing facility has now been installed together with some new chairs making this a clean and welcoming attraction for families.  Look out for offers on their website such as a free hot drink on select days.
British Wildlife Rescue Centre - TN8 7AR
about 20 Miles
This is a really unique opportunity to see the fantastic work going on at this centre.  The purpose of the British Wildlife Rescue Centre is to treat and care for injured wildlife which cannot be released into the wild.  Many of the animals are brought to the centre by members of the public or the RSPCA.  Visit their website to see the picture gallery and to find out how to help if this is something which interests you.  There are also regular fundraising events such as the Sponsered Leg Wax.

Out of all of the Go Ape! courses the one in Cheshire is the most spread out and it takes staff ten minutes to patrol the site on bike - which gives a good indication of the size of this place.  If you're looking for an adventurous and memorable day out then Go Ape is highly recommended.  Trek through the treetops, swing between the trees and enjoy zip wire rides all as part of your experience.  This attraction opens every day from the end of March to end October and is open on weekends in November.  Go Ape Cheshire is closed every Tuesday except school holidays.
