Charlesworth Lodges Reviews

"We really enjoyed our stay at the retreat cabin. Its absolutely beautiful! The only thing wed suggest is adding a softer light inside the main room. Leaving the curtains open was lovely, as we could soak in the peaceful surroundings. Lovely place!"
Emma - Mar 2025
"Really enjoyed our stay here! The private spot was perfect for relaxing and the hot tub was kept in great condition. Ideal for a chill weekend away."
Emma Carter - Nov 2024
"We recently stayed at the Amour 1 Lodge and honestly, it had its ups and downs. Inside, it was quite nice - the kitchen was well-stocked with pots, pans and utensils, which made cooking easy. The living area was comfy enough for relaxing after a day out. The bathroom in the bedroom was a bit tight, though, with nowhere to put your toothbrush or toiletries, which was a bit annoying. The hot tub was okay; it was at the right temperature when we arrived, but most of the jets didnt work, so it felt more like a warm bath outside. We only used it twice in the week. The bed was a real letdown - it was an old, rickety wooden frame with a super soft mattress that sank in the middle. It creaked constantly, so we kept waking each other up turning over or getting up. On the plus side, the place was generally clean, though there were quite a few cobwebs hanging from the beams and light fittings over the bed. We did have a day without heating or hot water due to a storm, but the staff responded quickly and even brought electric radiators, which was a nice touch. All in all, not bad, but could definitely be better!"
Alex - Oct 2024
"The sofas are comfy but really need new cushions; otherwise, everything was lovely!"
Emma Clarke - Sep 2024
"Our Charlesworth Lodges review: We had a really lovely short break and definitely plan to come back - theres still so much more to explore around here. We love it!"
Emma Clarke - Sep 2024
"The decor was quite lovely and the sofa super comfy, which we loved. The TV in the bedroom was a bit frustrating though-only worked with radio, no controller! Still, clean and cozy overall."
Emma - Sep 2024
"We booked this for our honeymoon since travelling abroad with three kids was a nightmare. Honestly, we thought it was just second best-turns out, it was absolutely fantastic! Loved every minute."
Emma - Aug 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay at this lodge! The outdoor space was lovely and the copper bath was a real treat. It stayed hot enough, though it didnt last as long as wed hoped. Still, very comfy place overall."
Emily Carter - Aug 2024
"Great little place for some peace and quiet, we really enjoyed our stay!"
Harriet - Aug 2024
"We found this place quite charming, even though its a bit tricky to find. No staff around, but everything was sorted quickly and smoothly. Lovely, peaceful spot too!"
Emma Carter - Aug 2024
"Lovely place, would definitely return soon"
Emily Clarke - Aug 2024
"Honestly, our stay at The Lodge was just what we needed. We stayed in Coombes View 1 and from the moment we arrived, it felt special. The location is stunning, nestled in lovely countryside with views that just take your breath away. Each lodge feels private, so you get that real sense of peace and quiet - perfect for unwinding. Inside, it was beautifully decorated, super clean and had everything we could possibly need. The hot tub was a real treat, always ready after a quick check in the mornings. We had some adorable visitors too - three alpacas came to say hello at the fence, which was such a lovely surprise. We even got to watch Mark herd some sheep that had escaped and paid us a visit! On our last day, we spotted a deer from the kitchen window - a perfect end to our trip. Honestly, this place is a good place, great for switching off and relaxing away from the hustle. Well definitely be back!"
Ellie - Jul 2024
"We absolutely loved our time at the cottage in the Peak District! The scenery was breathtaking and the place itself was really charming with lovely decor and comfy furniture. The hot tub was a real highlight after long walks. The kitchen had everything we needed and the dressing room was such a bonus. Oh and the master bed was super comfy! Thanks for a fantastic stay, well be back for sure!"
Emma - Jul 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay here! The cottage was super spacious, clean and comfy. The views are stunning, though the access road is a bit tricky so driving carefully is a must. The kitchen had everything we needed, but itd be handy to have some instructions for the cooker. The hot tubs position is a bit odd-covering the view when off, which is a shame."
Emma Carter - Jul 2024
"We had a fantastic stay! The location was perfect, the hot tub was spotless and relaxing and the place was so clean. Privacy was great too-couldnt ask for more!"
Emily Carter - Jun 2024
"We had a lovely stay at Coombes View Lodge! The place was fantastic overall, though we did miss a little welcome pack with tea, coffee and milk - something we're used to in other lodges. Still, highly recommend it!"
Emily Carter - May 2024
"We found the cottage to be really roomy and super comfy, set in such a peaceful spot thats well looked after. Its just a short drive to lovely walks, National Trust places and Manchester too. The place was spotless, the bed was a dream and we loved the views from the bedroom and patio. Listening to the birds and owls at night was a real highlight - wed definitely return!"
Emma Carter - May 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay! The hot tub was definitely the highlight-exactly why we pick lodges, for that little bit of luxury. The location was perfect and always accessible. Inside, the lodge was clean but a bit dated, which wasnt obvious from the photos. Still, very functional and comfortable."
Emma Roberts - May 2024
"We had a lovely stay at this cosy cottage. The bed was super comfy, especially the king size, which was a real treat. The views outside were absolutely stunning, perfect for unwinding. Everything we needed was there, which was great. The only minor hiccup was the smart TV - it only played BBC iPlayer, so it could do with an update. One evening, while relaxing in the hot tub around 7pm, the owner asked us to turn the music down, but we knew the rule about no noise after 10pm anyway. All in all, a lovely break!"
Jamie & Alex - Apr 2024
"Beautiful stay, highly recommend it!"
Emma Carter - Apr 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay at this charming barn conversion. The peaceful location is perfect, even if the access road isnt the smoothest. The bed was super comfy and the bathrooms were modern, especially the one with the spa bath! The hot tub was a highlight once it warmed up. Definitely coming back!"
Martin - Apr 2024
"The place was spotless and perfect for a calm, restful holiday. I wish the hot tub had jets that could be used together, but Id still come back!"
Emma Carter - Apr 2024
"Really enjoyed the whole experience, thanks a lot!"
James - Mar 2024
"The lodge was really cosy and spacious, which we loved. Parking was simple and stress-free. The layout means youre not crowded or overlooked. Having two bathrooms was a real bonus, even if we didn't use the hot tub. Nice place!"
Emma Carter - Mar 2024
"We had such a lovely break at The Retreat in the Peak District. The lodge was immaculate when we arrived and the facilities really impressed us, especially the outdoor spa bath - it was just what we needed! Its a great escape from the hustle and bustle. Wed happily recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful retreat."
Emma - Feb 2024
"We had a lovely stay at Old Barn Cottage for four nights. The place was just what we needed - super spacious and well-equipped. The views and peaceful surroundings really added to the experience. The sofas been upgraded to a big, comfy corner one, which was perfect after a day out. Its a short stroll into Charlesworth village with a cosy pub and a couple of shops, then not far to Glossop for more options. The Peak District is also nearby for some great walks. Wed definitely return!"
Emily Roberts - Jan 2024
"We stayed at one of their cabins recently and honestly, the photos on the website can be a bit misleading. Theres quite a variety of cabins and its not always clear which one youre booking. My mum surprised me with it for my birthday, expecting a more modern interior and a log burner - unfortunately, ours didnt have either. Still, the cabin was spotless and had everything we needed, so we werent disappointed overall. When I showed my mum around, she was a bit let down because it wasnt quite what she imagined, but I think thats down to the photos. Despite that, wed definitely recommend it for a cosy stay. Its a lovely place, just a bit of a heads-up about the different types of cabins!"
Alex Harper - Nov 2023
"We stayed at Armour Lodge and loved the private hot tub looking out over the woods-it was really relaxing. Inside, the place was spotless and comfy. Only downside was the bed, which wasnt the best for our backs, but overall, a lovely stay!"
Emma Carter - Nov 2023
"Really enjoyed our stay, it was just what we needed after such a hectic few months."
Emily - Aug 2020
"Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge was super cosy and private. Staff were lovely and it was nice and peaceful-definitely coming back soon!"
Emma - Jul 2020
"Excellent stay, just a few minor things that could elevate it. Mirror in single bed bedroom, dishwasher wasn’t working after being told it was fixed, a few wasps flying around. Otherwise the stay was brilliant and we really enjoyed ourselves. Thank you ?"
Greg - Aug 2022
"A very nice and clean lodge that was good value for money. Hot tub was also clean and well kept. The only slight issue was no access to WiFi (couldn't find or connect) but was a minor flaw when everything else was really good. Would return happily."
Frances - Jul 2022
"Been here several times before so that should say something of my opinion of site , ( first time in old barn though ). Ideal spot to get away from it all for a few days , but plenty on door step if required ( Buxton , Manchester)."
Christopher - Jul 2022
"All round excellent, my only complaint is that there was no where to sit to dry your hair and make up as there’s no dressing tables or mirrors, apart from that excellent."
Michelle - Jul 2022
"Beautiful lodge with fantastic amenities located in an idyllic spot, would definitely book again, in fact I have booked for next year already."
Debbie - Jul 2022
"This place MADE our trip. Recommend it to anyone."
Claire - Jul 2022
"We had a very good time staff we've helpful and areas was nice."
Martin - Jul 2022
"No words just spot on."
Nigel - Jul 2022
"Lodge was absolutely beautiful would recommend the site to anyone location and surroundings was just what we wanting as we were on a walking holiday"
Chris - Jul 2022
"We had a lovely weekend in a lovely location"
Wendy - Jun 2022
"A lovely location, staff were very helpful and overall great visit"
Maryam - Jun 2022
"Just a bit annoyed that when booking I was told a 10.00 am checkout, only on arrival to be told it was now a 9.00 am checkout. Rushed morning!"
