Ashby Woulds Lodges and Spa Reviews

"Could be better"
Sarah - Apr 2025
"We stayed at this lodge recently and honestly, its a bit of a mixed bag. The place itself is lovely and has a quirky charm, but some things are a bit odd. They provide an air fryer and one tray, but no oil or foil-stuff you'd expect to be included, but werent. We only got one and a half toilet rolls for four of us over the weekend, which was a bit tight. The hot tub was freezing on Friday night, so we couldnt use it and when we tried to call maintenance, no one answered. Luckily, it warmed up on Saturday, so we got to enjoy it then. Overall, a decent stay, but Im not rushing back anytime soon."
Emma Carter - Mar 2025
"Absolutely loved our stay! The lodge was spotless and stylish, plus the tea and coffee were a lovely touch."
Emma - Mar 2025
"Overall, we had a pretty good stay. There were a couple of small issues-like the outside light not working and some dog hairs in the lounge and bedroom-but nothing major. Still, wed come back!"
Emma - Feb 2025
"Our Ashby Woulds Lodges and Spa review: Pretty decent for the price, no complaints."
Emily Carter - Feb 2025
"Overall, we found it to be quite good value for money. The furniture fittings could do with a bit of a refresh - mainly some painting and updating, rather than the actual use. The beds were comfy, though one in the single room was a little sunken, which was a bit odd. The dining chairs are starting to show their age with damaged leather, so they could do with replacing. We also appreciated having a washer/dryer on site. The TVs in the rooms were a tad small, but we didn't use them much. All in all, pretty decent stay!"
Emily Roberts - Feb 2025
"We recently stayed at the lodge and honestly, it was quite a mixed bag. On the plus side, the place was warm, comfy and spotless when we arrived. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed, although we did notice a few items hadnt been washed properly, which was a bit of a letdown. The staff were super friendly and went out of their way to help us before and during our stay, which made things a lot easier. The hot tub was ready to go right when we arrived, which was a lovely bonus. The lodge itself had a few niggles-some bedside lights werent working, the showers leaked quite badly and the freezer looked like it was about to fall out from under the counter! Still, the bed was really comfy and we had a good sleep. We loved the fireplace too. On the second day, the hot tub had a minor issue but it was sorted quickly, so no big deal. The only downside was how close the lodges are-if youve got neighbours on both sides, privacy isnt great, especially with people fishing just beyond your balcony. Also, the 9am checkout felt a bit harsh, especially for a weekend stay; we had to set an alarm just to make sure we left on time. Still, despite those quirks, we had a lovely break and would definitely come back!"
Emma T. - Jan 2025
"We had a lovely stay! The kitchen was well-equipped, with a dishwasher and air fryer which was handy. Just a heads up, dont forget your washing up liquid, cloths and cooking oil, as we did! Luckily, there are a few shops nearby if you need to pick anything up. The hot tub was fantastic after a long day and they provided robes and towels, which was a nice touch. We managed to check in early since the reception was closed when we arrived-really helpful staff. We also tried Toons Cafe and their breakfasts and homemade cakes are a must! Wed definitely consider coming back next year, especially if we can squeeze in a massage at the spa next time!"
Emily Carter - Jan 2025
"Great value, feels just right!"
Emma - Jan 2025
"The lodge was really charming and the hot tub was definitely a highlight. Only downside was it didnt heat up on our first night, which was a bit disappointing. Also, the early check-out on the last morning made our stay feel a little rushed, even though we knew beforehand."
Emily - Jan 2025
"Great for quick escapes weekend"
Emma - Dec 2024
"Lovely place, our dog loved it!"
Emily - Dec 2024
"Really happy with it"
Sarah - Nov 2024
"We had a fantastic break! The hot tub was a highlight and exploring nearby towns and pubs made it special. Brilliant trip!"
Emma - Nov 2024
"So, we had a decent stay overall, but there were quite a few annoying bits. First off, we were told to call when we arrived at 5pm to check in. Tried ringing two different numbers multiple times over about ten minutes and nobody picked up, so we couldnt even get into the property! Had to contact customer service, who were just as clueless as us. Luckily, they gave us the gate code and told us which cabin we were in. Later that day, they rang about a security deposit to be paid in the morning, but when we called back the next day, no one answered again. They finally got back in the evening, so we had to work around their timings. The guy was friendly enough and didnt see why we were paying a deposit late at night and leaving early next morning, but the woman was quite rude and unfriendly. The house itself was nice, but the hot tub wasnt hot enough for a proper soak the first night and the place could do with some TLC."
Emma - Nov 2024
"Absolutely loved our stay! The lodge was cosy and beautifully situated. Plenty of outdoor activities nearby and the views were simply stunning. Were definitely coming back soon!"
Emma - Nov 2024
"Spacious chalet, huge bedroom and we adored the air fryer!"
Martin - Oct 2024
"Not perfect, but overall a decent stay with minor issues. Would return."
Emma Carter - Oct 2024
"We had a pretty good stay overall. The site was super peaceful, which we loved and the staff were really helpful whenever we needed anything. The lodge was huge and had everything we could ask for - really comfortable. The hot tub was a nice touch, private and nicely fenced off, although it could do with a bit of sprucing up. A few things could be improved, like the main bathroom lock not working and the door trims peeling a bit, plus the shower screen didnt have a seal, so water got underneath. Doors were a bit squeaky too, needing some WD40. We wouldve appreciated an earlier check-in and a later check-out, but honestly, it didnt spoil our relaxing break. Were definitely thinking of coming back!"
Alex - Oct 2024
"The lodge was really spacious and spotless, with fantastic facilities. Definitely recommend and already planning to return in March!"
Emma Clarke - Oct 2024
"The lodge was spotless, honestly couldnt find a single fault. The location was pretty handy and the surrounding area was lovely. We really enjoyed our stay and appreciated the booklet with handy info on shops and WiFi. The hot tub was pristine and well-maintained. Definitely planning to come back soon!"
Emma - Oct 2024
"We had a lovely weekend at Ashby Wounds Lodges. The lodge was super spacious and clean, with a lovely view over the canal which was a real highlight. There were a few minor issues, like the dishwasher being out of order and some lights not working, plus the kitchen blind had come loose, but honestly, it didnt ruin our stay at all. The hot tub was just right on the first night and the spa treatments were fantastic. The peaceful location and nearby walks made it even better. Wed definitely come back!"
Emma - Sep 2024
"We recently spent a weekend at Ashby Woulds Lodges and Spa with our little one, whos just turned one, along with my parents. Honestly, the place was pretty much spot on with what you see in the pictures and description - no surprises there. The communal space really became the heart of our stay; the living room, kitchen and dining area were perfect for hanging out as a family. We loved having a private deck and outdoor BBQ area, plus the hot tub was spotlessly clean which was a real bonus. The peace and quiet was a big surprise - despite being right next to the reception and car park, it was so tranquil, we could barely hear a thing. The bedrooms and bathroom were a bit basic, but to be fair, thats exactly what we expected based on the photos. The staff really went above and beyond, especially when I accidentally booked the wrong date. They sorted it out without any fuss and had someone come to help us with the oven in no time at all. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We were there for a wedding and some of our friends stayed in nearby lodges, so it was nice having that group vibe. My tip is to double-check the pictures when booking, since some lodges have water views or hot tubs outside and others dont. Overall, were really happy with our stay - definitely a lovely little retreat!"
Olivia - Aug 2024
"Great stay, the place was spotless and comfy too."
Alex - Jul 2024
"The lodges are quite nice, but a bit of a refresh wouldnt hurt. Privacy fence around the hottub could be taller, but overall, very relaxing stay."
Emma Carter - Jul 2024
"The lodge was nicely stocked, but honestly, the bed was the worst I've ever slept on. We had to chase someone to refill the hot tub and I was pretty surprised to hear it didnt need jets at all. Quite disappointing really!"
Emma Roberts - Jul 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge. The three bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, made everything so convenient. The host was friendly and we felt well looked after. Absolutely loved it!"
Emma - Jun 2024
"We found the place really spacious and spotless, with everything we could possibly need already there. The bed and pillows were super comfy and there were plenty of towels and robes for the hot tub. It was all ready when we arrived-brilliant!"
James - Jun 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay here. The lodges were lovely and quiet, perfect for relaxing. The rooms were spacious with comfy ensuites and the hot tubs were a great bonus. The living space and kitchen were well-sized and those big patio doors opening onto the deck are a lovely touch!"
Emma - Jun 2024
"All enjoyed our stay but wished the spar had been up and running. Very good location and lodge was very well equipped and clean. Very good value for money."
Julie - Jul 2022
"Nice 4 day break very relaxing."
Ronald - Jul 2022
"Lovely lodge you could have been a million miles away so peaceful and quiet."
Tracy - Jul 2022
"Amazing pleace 100%"
Katarzyna - Jul 2022
"We had a lovely break the lodge was spotlessly clean lovely soft towels provided, plenty of wardrobe space in both rooms. The beds were comfy. Hot tub checked and cleaned each day. My only negative is the kitchen knives were very blunt so struggled to even slice a tomato but that's the only negative I could state we had a lovely time and would definitely go back again."
Kerry - Jul 2022
"My third time here and I absolutely love it!"
Verified Guest - Jun 2022
"loved it will defiantly return again"
Kelly - Jun 2022
"Beautiful lodge in very peaceful setting. Nice walk along the lake/river. Hot tub was fab. Ian the staff was so helpful. A really lovely break."
Verified Guest - Jun 2022
"This is our second stay at Ashby woulds and we would stay again. The local area is nice with things to do- it’s close enough to town for takeaways or dinner out and the lodges are in a nice private gated park which made us feel safe. It’s very laid back and quiet and the hot tub is lovely!"
