Medbourne Edge Retreat Reviews

"Honestly, our stay was a bit of a mixed bag. The parking situation was pretty tight-only space for one car, which was a bit of a hassle. The hot tub was a bit of a let-down; its just behind a 6 ft fence panel, so not very private and there were no instructions about how to use it. Plus, on our last night, it was freezing and we had no idea why. The lodge itself was pretty basic, nothing fancy-no full-length mirrors or lamps and the main lights were way too harsh, so we had to turn on the cooker hood just to see. The sofas were tiny, definitely meant for two people, not six. We also had to pay a £500 security deposit and honestly, that was never mentioned anywhere prior to booking, which was a bit of a shock. It took 12 days for the money to come back, which is just unacceptable. We just wanted a relaxing getaway, but it didnt quite hit the mark for us."

"Our Medbourne Edge Retreat review: The place was lovely, with stunning views that made relaxing so easy. We really enjoyed our time and cant wait to return! Just a couple of things-internet was slow and hand-wash at sinks could be better."

"The stay at Medbourne lodges was really lovely. Our lodge was spacious, comfy and had stunning views of the countryside, which made it super peaceful. Simon was so helpful when he greeted us, making everything easy. Wed definitely come back-highly recommend this place!"
Emma & Sarah - Apr 2024
"We had a lovely stay at the lodge, it was spotless and really modern. Everything was just perfect. The only thing wed suggest is adding steps for easier hot tub access - itd make things even better!"
Emily - Mar 2024
"We had a lovely stay at the lodge! The decor was really charming and it had everything we needed for a comfortable break. The hot tub was definitely the highlight-absolutely gorgeous! One thing we thought would make it even better is some fairy lights around the hot tub area, just to add a bit of cosy charm. Also, as someone else mentioned, a step up into the tub would be really handy, especially in the evenings when its quite dark outside. We also found that adding a lamp in the main living space would create a more inviting atmosphere at night, but honestly, we just grabbed one from the bedroom to make things cosier. Overall, we couldnt have asked for more, everything was spot on for us!"
Emily - Mar 2024
"We had a really lovely weekend at Medbourne Edge. The place was spotless and spacious, with all the amenities we needed. Its a peaceful spot with stunning scenery, perfect for relaxing after busy weeks. Simon, the manager, was super friendly and welcoming. The hot tub was a highlight, though an outside light would be handy for evenings. Well definitely come back!"
Martin - Mar 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay! The lodge was well-equipped, just a couple of bedside lights missing. Would visit again!"

"The cottage was just what we needed-super cosy and nicely tucked away, yet close enough to town for convenience. The hot tub was a real treat after long days and the underfloor heating kept everything warm and comfy. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel really welcome. Cant wait to return!"

"We had a lovely stay at this charming cottage. The owners are genuinely kind and very helpful, making us feel welcome from the start. The place itself is spotless, warm and super cosy, with a great shower and comfy beds. Parking right next to the cottage was a real bonus and we enjoyed peaceful walks through the fields to Thaxted, with its pretty half-timbered houses and windmill. Definitely a place wed return to!"

The Royal Forest of Rockingham - LE16 8UW

The Royal Forest of Rockingham in Northamptonshire is the perfect place to enjoy a range of outdoor pursuits including Walking, Cycling, Nature Trails and Horse Riding. The beautiful medieval hunting forest offers areas of ancient woodlands, agricultural land and peaceful stone-built forest villages. The forest is also abundant with wildlife including Deer, Squirrels, Butterflies and Birds.
Old Dairy Farm Centre - PO30 2NB
about 24 Miles
Suited to families with children of all ages this is a fantastic attraction in Northamptonshire.  There are many special events held throughout the year so don't forget to check what's happening while you are staying in the region.  Some highlights include the lambing weekends and the monthly local food fayres.
Old Dairy Farm Country Shopping and Craft Centre - LE14 3PF
about 24 Miles
From shopping to home cooked refreshments this is a wonderful day out in the pretty village of Upper Stowe.  You can enjoy amazing views over the Northamptonshire countryside and wander around the complex of stone built farm buildings.  Each building houses something different such as the Occasions Florist, Itsy Bitsy Gifts, Hayrack Gallery and Sheer Delights Lingerie.  When it's time for a rest the Barn Restaurant and Tea Room is the place to go.  There is a small selection of animals at the centre too which younger children will love.  They currently have two Kune Kune pigs, sheep, hens and ducks.  If you are looking for upmarket holiday accommodation in the Northamptonshire area then the luxury lodges at Wicksteed Park are sure to impress.
Catanger Llama Trekking - NN12 8LJ
about 30 Miles
This is a really unique attraction and certainly worth a visit in our opinion.  Established in 1995 and situated in the heart of the Northamptonshire countryside this attraction will appeal to those looking for something a little different.  You can't ride the animals but you can trek alongside them and enjoy the fantastic scenery.  From farm tracks to country lanes the gentle animals will carry your rucksack for you along the way.  There are personally guided treks available all year round and you will have your own Llama for the trek.
Conkers - DE12 6GA
about 33 Miles
Conkers is an award winning attraction located in the midst of the National Forest.  Combining both indoor and outdoor activities this is an all weather attraction in the Peak District.  It's really easy to get to as well, just 5 miles from Junction 11 off the M42.  Designed for all ages some of the highlights include the Enchanted Forest Adventure play area and a simulated Tree Top walk.  Look out for special seasonal events such as October half term and the Annual Halloween Party.  At the moment you can receive a fantastic discount if you book your tickets online.
Crazy Crocodiles Indoor Play & Party Centre - LL30 1DR
about 36 Miles
This is an all weather attraction located in Ilkeston Derbyshire.  With a large play frame as well as bikes and ride on toys this is a fun place for young children.  The toddler time sessions take place during term times on week days from 9.30am until 2.30pm and are very popular. The admission fee is excellent value for money and parents can sit down and enjoy a drink while the children play. A new baby changing facility has now been installed together with some new chairs making this a clean and welcoming attraction for families.  Look out for offers on their website such as a free hot drink on select days.
Rosliston Forestry Centre - DE12 8JX
about 37 Miles
Rosliston Forestry Centre is a beautiful woodland site with tranquil areas for Fishing as well as some beautiful meadows and a lake. For children there is a Play Area to run around on and during school holidays organised activities such as range led walks are available. The site is also an excellent place for Walking, Cycling and Horse Riding. Other available events taking place this year include an Archery drop in session, a Christmas Crafting Afternoon and a Mince Pie and Mulled Wine Walk.
Ash End House Childrens Farm -
about 38 Miles
With family fun for everyone a trip to this farm makes a memorable day out in Staffordshire.  Some highlights of the day might include the chicks and ducklings in a basket, goat kid walking, bottle feeding the lambs or bunny brushing.  Located in the Tamworth area of Stafforshire this attraction is easy to get to.  Look out for special events taking place throughout the year including weekend and school holidays when extra activities may be organised.  Don't forget to meet Chirpy while you are there - the extra large chick!
