Ashby Woulds Retreat Reviews

"We had a lovely stay overall, but unfortunately, the lodge we first booked had a terrible gas smell after just one night, so we had to switch. The staff were really helpful with sorting it out, which we appreciated. Aside from that, it was a great trip!"
Emma - Dec 2021
"We stayed in an Oak Deluxe before and honestly, we expected a bit more this time. The tablecloth had a tear, which was a bit disappointing and two of the blinds were broken-definitely not what wed call well-maintained. The place felt quite sparsely furnished and the small TV was a bit of a letdown. No side tables meant we struggled to find spots for our drinks on the sofas. Also, there was a stale cigarette smell lingering, like someone had been smoking with windows open. Beds were quite basic and not super comfy either. Not quite what we hoped for."
Emma Collins - Nov 2021
"We really enjoyed our stay at Ashby Woulds Retreat! The staff were super welcoming from the moment we arrived. Its a shame about the early check-out, a later time would be better."
Emma - Oct 2021
"Great stay, would definitely return soon!"
Rachel - Jun 2021
"Our Ashby Woulds Retreat review: We had such a lovely break with the girls! Totally chilled out and relaxed, it was exactly what we needed. Booking massages was easy with Monika on arrival and were already talking about coming back next year. Highly recommend!"
Emma - Aug 2020
"A lovely escape! Perfect for unwinding, whether you want to relax or stay active. Can't wait to return soon!"
Emily - Aug 2020
"The lodge was spotless and the beds super comfy. The hot tub at the back was perfect for privacy-though beware, its pitch black at night without any lighting. We loved it though!"
Emma - Feb 2020
"Really enjoyed our stay, lovely place, friendly staff, will return soon!"
Emma - Feb 2020
"We managed to snag a bargain thanks to a late cancellation, which was a bonus! Everything else was spot on. Only thing wed suggest is adding hooks on the inside of the doors - not a big deal, just a handy idea. Totally impressed and already telling our friends about you!"
Emily Clarke - Jan 2020
"We had a lovely stay at this place, honestly. The lodge looks really gorgeous and feels quite luxurious, which was great. The only thing that threw us off a bit was the hot tubs location - didnt feel very private, especially since its not on the front decking. Also, the kitchen wasnt fully prepared; the oven and pans were a bit grubby, which was a pain when we just wanted to cook. Still, overall, its a nice spot to unwind and wed recommend it to friends."
Jess - Oct 2019
"Despite the rainy weather, we really enjoyed the stay. The hot tub was a lifesaver after all that wet weather and the wifi couldve been better though."
Claire - Jul 2019
"We had such a lovely break! The lodge was perfect and having the hot tub under cover meant we could enjoy it rain or shine. Loved it!"
Emma - May 2019
"Really enjoyed our stay, the lodge had everything we could possibly need. Would return!"
Rachel - May 2019
"We had a fantastic time at Ashby Woods Retreat! The cabin was really lovely, everything felt top-notch and comfy. Were already thinking about booking again. The only slight downside was not being able to use the hot tub on our first night, which was a bit of a bummer, but we knew about it when booking. Overall, a great stay and definitely recommend!"
Emma - Apr 2019
"Really enjoyed the stay"
Emma - Apr 2019
"Really enjoyed it, just wish it was a bit longer."
James - Apr 2019
"Really enjoyed our trip, such a tranquil spot to unwind."
Martin - Apr 2019
"Had a lovely time, definitely returning soon. Really good value and a great overall experience."
Emma - Dec 2018
"We had a lovely weekend overall, but there were a few hiccups. The WiFi was completely down during our stay, which was a bit frustrating. A BT engineer was supposed to come around midday on our first day to sort it out, but he arrived at 8:30 am instead and couldnt fix it. We also lost satellite signal for a day until we realised my car was blocking the dish - its right by the driveway, so easy to miss! We left a message with on-site maintenance but didnt get a reply, which was a shame. Still, wed definitely return!"
Emma - Oct 2018
"Our stay at Ashby Woulds was quite enjoyable, especially since the trail behind the lodge was perfect for long walks, which we loved. We stayed with my husb and's mum and it was nice to have that extra bit of space. That said, the privacy in the hot tub wasnt great, especially with nearby lodges so close. One weekend, the noise from the renters across the road was a bit much and we were surprised to see children there too. Its worth noting that some lodges are freehold, so Ashby Woulds cant really control who lives on site, which might affect the atmosphere."
Emma - May 2018
"Fantastic stay, definitely rebooking for next year!"
Emma Turner - Jan 2018
"Great stay, lovely surroundings, staff were friendly and we felt relaxed!"
Emma - Jan 1970
"We had a lovely stay and would definitely come back. Just thinking next time we might pick an off-peak month to save some money. Its such a nice place to stay!"
Rachel - Jan 1970
"Had an awesome break with the girls! Super chill and exactly what we needed to unwind. Booking massages on arrival was easy, thanks to Monikas lovely help. Definitely planning to come back next year - we loved it and would recommend to anyone!"
Emily - Jan 1970
"Great spot to unwind, whether you want activity or just chill out. Well be booking again for sure!"
Emily - Jan 1970
"The lodge was spotless and the beds super comfy, which we loved. The hot tub at the back was perfect for privacy, though its pitch black at night-no lighting at all! Still, a lovely stay."
Emma - Jan 1970
"Great stay, would happily do again!"
Emma - Jan 1970
"Good place, but it would be better with more details about amenities."
James - Jan 1970
"Really enjoyed our stay here"
Emma - Jan 1970
"A lovely spot, though a bit pricey, but wed definitely come back again!"
Alex - Jan 1970
"We have just had the most amazing 3 days here. The lodge was stunning. Very modern and clean. Well equipped. The hot tub was a god send in this hot weather. I honestly cannot find anything negative to say. Will definitely be booking again in a different area. Amazing!!"
Carol - Jul 2022
"Amazing place fell in love with the log cabin"
Jamie - Jul 2022
"Lovely little find.Will definitely return"
Coralie - May 2022
"Lovely lodge, with indoor hot tub, cannot be bettered. Superb"
Adrian - Apr 2022
"Great, well equipped lodge on a pleasant site. Photos did not do it justice. Spacious and great to have 2 bathrooms. We cooked there too. Great base for getting to Alton Towers, West Midlands zoo, Peak district, all about an hour away. Hot tub was good but couldn't take more than three people without overflowing which was a shame, the only downside"
Lorraine - Apr 2022
"Beautiful lodge and spotlessly clean the only issue was the bed. Mattress felt cheap and you could feel the springs."
Claire - Feb 2022
"Brilliant way to get away and spend quality time with family/ loved ones and have some peace and quiet"
William - Jan 2022
"Great location. All staff I spoke to were helpful."
Linda - Dec 2021
"Lovely time. Very relaxing and loved the hot tub. Would definitely recommend. Lovely staff from the start to the finish. Thank you."
Joanne - Nov 2021
"This is a lovely quiet retreat. Lovely lodge, right by pathways into the National forest and close to lots of interesting places to visit. The Spa treatments, absolutely wonderful as well. Just a couple of small things, for feedback. An information pack would have been very helpful. It needed a coffee table, as no where to put down drinks when sitting on very comfy settees. Also needed some outside hooks by the hot tub for hanging robes. The step leading into the hot tub not the most stable and difficult to get into the tub if very short. We had a wonderful stay and fabulous spa treatments. On site staff were helpful. None of the above feedback distracted from a lovely stay. Thank you all."
