Calthwaite Hall Lodges

Calthwaite Hall Lodges are the ideal choice if you're looking for a stylish and tranquil escape in the Cumbria region.  Part of the hand picked Autograph Lodge Holidays Collection you can be sure of an immaculate lodge in a gorgeous location.

The location itself is quite unique being nestled in the grounds of the stunning Calthwaite Hall which dates back to 1837.  The surrounding lawns and paddocks are home to adorable miniature Falabella ponies.   It's been described as a "a perfect luxurious secret escape" and we couldn't agree more.

The lodges themselves are befitting of the setting with sleek and high spec interiors and of course private hot tubs complete the picture. Choose from 2 and 3 bedroom lodges with Flatscreen TV and freeview, well equipped kitchen with dishwasher and WIFI in each lodge.  You'll also receive a complimentary welcome pack.

The Calthwaite 4 Lodge is one of our favourites with a stunning modern interior, outdoor decking with great quality garden furniture and an outdoor hot tub with views over the countryside.

You can walk to the local pub in Calthwaite Village for a relaxing drink or head out to explore the local Sandstone villages and quaint market towns.

Date of stay: 2nd April 2018
Lodge was beautiful very smartly decorated and furnished. Everything you could need is provided with plenty of utensils, glasses, towels etc. Hot tub was lovely and ready to use on arrival. Staff came to explain controls for hot tub and heating etc. quickly after arrival and Wi-Fi password was easily available and worked well. Welcome pack was a nice touch too which included milk, water, tea/coffee and even a toblerone! Would definately go back to these loaded again in future.

Lovely lodge - very clean and nicely laid out. Excellent facilities, especially the hot tub. Great that they accept dogs. However, hot tub decking not completed and we had problems locking the French doors (which were not resolved during our visit).

Date of stay: 23rd March 2018
Really beautiful cottage in a rural and peaceful location with hands on owner (Tony) who couldnt be more welcoming. It was a littlgreat disappointing that there were a couple of outstanding maintenance issues when we arrived but the cleanliness and facilities of the cottage far outweighed any niggles and Tony is obviously very keen to ensure that his guests are happy. We did recommend better mattresses which the owner agreed would be done following previous feedback. We would not hesitate to return.

lovely luxury lodge with the added bonus of a excellent hot tub, only slight downside is the noise from the M6, but soon forgotten. A great location for visiting Ullswater.

Date of stay: 9th February 2018
We went for a last minute booking and wasnt disappointed, we stayed In the coach house and it was wonderful very clean and spacious, the hot tub was brilliant and was checked everyday. Although when we went it was very cold and snowed you could see the grounds would be lovely in the spring /summer. I would have given a 10 but the only drawback back was the internet information wasnt connecting. Also location is remote so make sure you plan your shopping as no shop in village. It isonly 5miles to supermarkets though. Would recommend

Fabulous holiday. We stayed 7 nights and even that went too quickly. The winter is perfect for the hot tub outside. We hope to be back in the summer as well.
The Globe Inn is the best local pub with lovely food. Thanks to Tony and all the staff for being as helpful as always.

Date of stay: 3rd November 2017
The Carriage house is modern with lots of space, located in a lovely gated area. The location is in-between the Lakes and Scotland so there's lots to do and places to visit. After a busy day you can relax in the outside hot tub which we took full advantage of.

You must try the food at the Globe inn it is amazing and very reasonable.

We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again.

Date of stay: 24th February 2017
The lodge was lovely. Couldn't fault it. We did have a leak beneath the sink because the lodge was new probably. We had to put a towel to absorb the water by the sink. Told the owner, but no one attended to it. Thats our only criticism. The Owner was very friendly/helpul otherwise.
Alan, Warrington, Cheshire
Date of stay: 13th February 2017
Fabulous lodge, well equipped the only let down was we couldn't get access to wifi using any of our apple products.
Shelley, Cumbria
Date of stay: 6th February 2017
The lodge was immaculate with well thought-out accommodation which showed a keen eye for luxurious practicality, and the hot tub was a wonderful treat, ready to use whenever we wanted to indulge.
The view from our lodge was stunning and the hot tub was lovely and private with our own little bit of garden. The additional touches such as a welcome pack and unbreakable patio 'glasses' to use outside just made it all perfect.
Emma, Gainsborough
Date of stay: 30th January 2017

Date of stay: 14th November 2016
I arranged a weekend at this lodge in Calthwaite as a birthday 'break' for my partner and we will definitely go again. We had a lovely three days in perfect accommodation. The park owner was helpful and friendly and everything little attention to detail was taken care of. It's the most wonderful place for walking and relaxing with a nice little pub right next to it where we had a meal. We think it's spot on for a couples break and would wholeheartedly recommend it. Many thanks.
Fiona & Nik, Lanarkshire
Date of stay: 31st October 2016
The lodge was fitted to a high standard with quality furniture and tastefully decorated. Lots of little extras supplied - hairdryer, hand-wash in both bathrooms, milk, chocolate & wine in the fridge on our arrival etc. The hot-tub was amazing and as there were only two of us, we had lots of room to relax but big enough to accommodate for 4 adults.
Sophie, Chester Le Street

Loved our girls weekend away. Beautiful lodge

Exceptionally clean lodge and very well maintained site. Hot tub was perfect and maintained every day lovely and warm. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Had a couple of meals at the local pub which was absolutely fantastic wish we ate there every night. Highly recommend the lasagne and beef burger but could honestly say nothing would disappoint you. Only wished the site had lodges for 6 people as we would have loved to bring our grown up children absolutely highly recommend this site. Thank you
Philip
We had a lovely stay at the lodge staff very helpful and friendly. My young girls loved feeding the animals and going to see the horses every morning, the hot tub was brilliant and a nice treat when we got back from our day out. We will definitely be booking again soon
Hannah
A lovely lodge. Beautiful surroundings looking out over a farm, all the shops & things to do are a bit of a drive but all worth it. The lodge was lovely & clean, the pub down the road we ate in twice because the food was so good & the prices even better.
Jenny
Fantastic site, very quiet with beautiful peacocks wandering the grounds. No noise heard at all except for the rooster! The Globe Inn across the road also owned by the lodge owners and well worth a visit for dinner (a voucher for two free glasses of wine was included in the lodge!)
Catherine
Lovely comfortable and clean lodge with a private aspect. The plots are well spaced with open views. Just off the M6 so very easy to access with lots of beautiful countryside on your doorstep.
Jenny
We stayed here with our 4 year old and 2 year old. It was a great location for exploring the lakes and not too far at all from Scotland. The lodge was spotless. The owner kept the hot tub very clean every day and emptied the water completely for every new guest. The Globe pub across the road provided great food and we got a 20% discount. There was a great childrens play area just 5 mins walk away which the owner told us about. We do a lot of lodge breaks and this was one of the best.
Claire
Lovely lodge, very clean and quiet location. Hot tub was fab. We had a lovely week. Would definitely recommend
Samantha
A great place to come and unwind. Location is secluded and you have to travel to nearest town for activities. However, lodge facilities are excellent and of high quality. The addition of a hot tub and the fact that you can bring dogs is a bonus.

Fun Days Out near Calthwaite Hall Lodges

about 10 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.

This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.

We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...

Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.

Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.

Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.

Here at the Wildlife Oasis you can really get up close to the animals and experience a mix of exotic wildlife and hand son displays.  See butterflies, birds and even bats flying around.  You don't have to plan your visit according to weather either with the tropical hall and butterfly house undercover.  Sunny days are ideal for some of the inhabitants however with the monkeys and Lemurs loving to sunbathe.  The mission of Lakeland's Wildlife Oasis is to engender and foster an interest and appreciation of the natural world which, in our belief underpins wildlife conservation; and, where possible to contribute and encourage contribution to the conservation of wildlife and wild places.  You know that you are helping with this mission if you choose to visit.

Located in the Milnthorpe area of Cumbria we love this local attraction.  With an eclectic mix of fascinating wildlife and hands on displays this centre is educational as well as fun.  You can wander around at leisure admiring the exhibits which range from chameleons to computers. Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.

Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
