Blaithwaite Country House Estate Reviews

"Nice lodge overall, but a bit more storage would make it perfect."
Emma - Dec 2024
"Really disappointed, the lodge was way too small for six."
Emma Carter - Nov 2024
"We had a lovely time staying in the Star Gazer! The swing chair was definitely our favourite spot to relax. A little privacy for the hot tub wouldve been nice though, as its pretty open. Also, the steps are a bit dodgy - could do with some fixing. Oh and fairy lights outside would really add a cosy touch. Overall, wed happily return - the staff were really lovely too!"
Emily Carter - Sep 2024
"We had a lovely time at Lakewood Lodge. The place was spotless and really spacious, with lots to explore nearby. Definitely a peaceful and welcoming spot for a break!"
Martin - Jul 2024
"Our Blaithwaite Country House Estate review: Really enjoyed our stay, everything matched the description perfectly. Would come back!"
Emma Clarke - Jan 2024
"We had such a lovely stay! The lodge was super cosy and beautifully kept, perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle. The hot tub was a real treat and it was nice knowing it was maintained daily. The location was peaceful but still close enough to shops. Definitely recommend for a relaxing getaway!"
Jessie - Jan 2024
"The lodge was charming but quite cramped for our family of five. Storage was minimal, making it a bit tricky to keep everything organised during our stay."
Emily Carter - Jan 2024
"We loved this cosy cottage! The hot tub and log burner made it extra special. Hosts were lovely and its so peaceful here. Hope to come back soon!"
Charlotte - Apr 2025
"We stayed at this lovely place during a rainy December and it was perfect. The house is super well equipped and really cosy, which was much appreciated. The bath was fantastic and the shower was a nice size. The location is peaceful, great for dogs who dislike fireworks and the fact that its on a flight path didnt bother us at all. Would definitely recommend!"
Jess - Apr 2025
"We had an awesome weekend here! The place ticked all our boxes and we genuinely loved it. The dogs were totally spoiled - especially with the underfloor heating, which they adored. The garden was perfect for them to play in. Luna was wagging her tail so much she strained it, but shes fine now. Well definitely be back!"
Oliver - Apr 2025
"We had such a lovely stay at Goddard's Mead! Rob and Sharon really put a lot of care into transforming this historic building and it shows. They gave us such a warm welcome, along with Bonnie, which made us feel right at home. The place is perfect for relaxing, with everything you need. The location is ideal too - exploring Thaxted and nearby villages is a must, so much history and charm around here!"
Emma - Apr 2025
"We had a wonderful stay at this charming spot! The setting is truly peaceful and quite private, perfect for relaxing. The owners were super friendly and always ready to help if needed, but they didn't intrude on our privacy at all. The hot tub was a real highlight after a long day cycling - absolute bliss! One thing to note, though, is that the cottage is directly beneath Stansted's flight path, so there's quite a bit of noise from planes. It took us a couple of hours to get used to it, but it didnt ruin our holiday at all. Definitely recommend!"
Raj - Apr 2025
"The cottage was a real find, tucked away on a working farm but surprisingly private. Robert and Sharon were lovely hosts, making us feel welcome from the start. The place itself is spacious and well equipped, especially the kitchen and bathroom - no complaints there! The bed was super comfy, which was much appreciated after long walks. The garden's perfect for dogs and totally secluded with nice furniture. We explored loads of nearby trails and loved having options for meals in Thaxted - The Star and The Maypole are great spots. Honestly, wed definitely recommend it!"
Sam - Apr 2025
"We really appreciated the warm welcome from the owners. They were so helpful when the storm knocked out the power. The cottage was spotless, well-equipped and cosy. Our dog loved the enclosed garden and the hot tub was a bonus!"
Emma - Apr 2025
"We had a lovely time at this peaceful spot. Sharon and Robert really go above and beyond to ensure everything is just right. Even though its our second visit, were already planning to come back again soon!"
Emma - Apr 2025
"We had such a lovely stay! The cottage was spotless and beautifully set in a peaceful spot-perfect for unwinding. The hot tub was a real highlight and there are plenty of walks nearby. Honestly, we had an amazing time and would definitely recommend it!"
Emma - Apr 2025
"We really enjoyed our stay here! The rural setting was so peaceful and scenic. The hot tub was a lovely touch and the courtyard was perfect for relaxing evenings. Great for walks too!"
Emma - Apr 2025
"Really enjoyed our stay here! The place was peaceful and spotless, hosts were super friendly and the hot tub was a real highlight. Perfect for a quiet getaway."
Emma - Apr 2025
"We needed a break with the dog and honestly, it was just what we hoped for. The place was lovely and the location meant plenty of walks and good local pubs nearby. We didn't want to leave!"
James - Apr 2025
"Really enjoyed our stay here. The cottage was cosy and perfect for some peace and quiet. The hot tub was definitely a highlight, we loved it! Just a heads-up about the planes, mostly at night though."
Emma - Apr 2025
"We stayed at this charming cottage recently and honestly, it had everything we needed - we didnt have to pack much at all. The owners, Sharon and Rob, were super quick to reply if we had questions. The welcome pack was full of handy info and menus, which saved us a lot of hassle. Our dogs loved the enclosed garden and the hot tub was just the cherry on top. Little touches for both us and the pups made the stay even better. Thanks for a lovely break!"
Emily - Apr 2025
"We had a fantastic weekend here, exactly what we were after. The place was perfect and were already planning to return! The pups were over the moon with the underfloor heating and the garden kept them busy for ages. Luna even came back with a strained tail, but the vet said its just from wagging so much! Everyone was really happy."
Oliver - Apr 2025
"We really enjoyed our stay! The cottages peaceful setting was perfect and the hot tub was definitely a bonus. Owners were friendly but not intrusive at all."
Oliver - Apr 2025
"We had a fantastic stay at this cosy cottage! The place is kept in great condition and is fully equipped, making everything easy. There are plenty of lovely walks right outside, perfect for the dogs. The host was super friendly and responsive and we loved meeting the farm animals, especially Penelope the pig. Cant wait to return - such great value!"
Emma - Apr 2025

The accommodation was spot-on - clean, comfy and safe for our dog Archie, which was a big plus. The location was perfect, with loads of nice walks nearby and charming villages like Thaxted to explore. Honestly, we left feeling totally recharged and relaxed - it was just what we needed!"
Emma - Apr 2025
"We spent a week here in July with our two miniature dachshunds and honestly, it was lovely. The village of Thaxted is charming and our dogs made plenty of new friends. The cottage itself is cosy with a really nice hot tub, which was perfect given the scorching weather-cooler water felt so good. The hosts were super friendly and it was nice to see them taking their dogs out to the fields each day. Being close to Stansteds flight path was pretty interesting too, watching the planes land. Wed definitely come back!"
Emma - Apr 2025
"We really enjoyed our stay here! The place is so peaceful and perfect for our doggies."
Harper - Apr 2025
"We had an absolutely lovely stay! The cottage was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. The hot tub was a real treat after long walks nearby and the peaceful setting made it perfect for relaxing. Would definitely come back again!"

Attractions Near Blaithwaite Country House Estate

Here are some of the activities and experiences you can enjoy on your visit to Blaithwaite Country House Estate. If you discover a worthy inclusion to this list on your hot tub break, please let us know and we'll add it so that other visitors can enjoy it too.
Lake District Wildlife Park - CA12 4RD
about 7 Miles
We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 13 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US
about 20 Miles
This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
Mabie Farm Park - DG2 8EZ
about 22 Miles
Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. Seasonal activities can also be enjoyed including a spookly tea and walk on Haloween. The Farm closes for the winter on October 31st.
Rydal Mount & Gardens - LA22 9LU
about 25 Miles
Rydal Mount & Gardens are wonderfully situated between Lake Windermere and Rydal Water offering breathtaking scenery. The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Castle Douglas - DG7 1TJ
about 29 Miles
We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.
Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre - NE48 1BT
about 38 Miles
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
