Landal Barnsoul Reviews

"The lodge was really cosy and just right for our stay. The only downer was no microwave, which would've been handy. Still, perfect for what we needed!"
Emma Clarke - Mar 2025
"We spent a week here in July with our two tiny dachshunds and honestly, they loved every minute. The village of Thaxted is adorable and the hosts made us feel super welcome. The cottage itself is really charming, especially the hot tub-perfect for cooling off during those scorching days, it was such a treat. Watching planes land near Stansted was surprisingly fun and we enjoyed seeing the hustle and bustle. All in all, a lovely stay and we'd definitely recommend if you're after a relaxed getaway with your furry friends!"
Jenna - Mar 2025
"Good value, worth trying out"
Oliver - Mar 2025
"Really happy with it, though a bedside table in the bedroom would be handy! Great overall."
Sam - Feb 2025
"Our Landal Barnsoul review: Really enjoyed the peaceful vibe here, perfect for unwinding. The new facilities look promising, though theyre still in progress. Definitely a lovely escape!"
Claire - Feb 2025
"Really enjoyed the walk, the fields are lovely and having dogs along made it even better!"
Harper - Feb 2025
"Great cabin, had everything we wanted and more!"
Emily Carter - Jan 2025
"We had a great stay at this lovely cottage tucked away on a working farm, but its surprisingly private. Robert and Sharon are such warm, friendly hosts. The place itself is really spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and a comfy bed thats perfect after a days exploring. The garden is lovely-completely dog-proof and nicely furnished. Plenty of walks nearby and we found some cracking restaurants in Thaxted, especially The Star and The Maypole. Honestly, wed definitely recommend it!"
Simon - Jan 2025
"Great experience, definitely coming again!"
Olivia - Dec 2024
"Really good value, well definitely visit again soon!"
Jamie - Nov 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge, it looks fantastic and has a modern vibe. Can't wait until the build is fully finished because it will look even better! That said, a few things could be improved-like the finishing touches, which werent quite up to scratch and slightly took away from the sleek look. It could have been cleaner too, with cobwebs around. A vacuum wouldve been handy, as we only had a dustpan and brush. Also, the front door needs some sort of cover or privacy glass for better privacy. Still, we had a lovely time overall!"
Alex - Oct 2024
"We had a really lovely stay! Sharon and Robert are such friendly hosts, making sure we felt right at home. The place was spotlessly clean, comfy and perfect for Archie with good security. The location was fantastic - loads of nice walks and the nearby villages like Thaxted are charming to explore. Honestly, we left feeling totally recharged and relaxed. Definitely a break well remember!"
Jessie - Sep 2024
"We had such a lovely weekend here! The place was perfect for what we needed and we really enjoyed our stay. Our dogs were especially happy - they couldn't get enough of the underfloor heating and the garden. Luna even came home with a strained tail from all the wagging! Well definitely be coming back soon. Brilliant stay!"
Charlie - May 2024
"We needed a relaxing dog walking getaway and found it here. The place was lovely, with great local pubs and plenty of open fields nearby. Our dog loved it so much, he didnt want to leave the car!"
Martin - May 2024
"We absolutely loved our stay! The rural setting was stunning and the courtyard was so charming. The hot-tub was a real bonus, making it feel extra special. Perfect for peaceful walks too."
Lisa - Mar 2024
"We loved the lodge! The bed was super comfy and the quilt was spot on. Pillows werent perfect, but honestly, it didnt ruin the stay at all. Highly recommend!"
Mark - Mar 2024
"Really enjoyed the stay, the owners were super friendly and the jacuzzi was a bonus! Great time."
Laura - Feb 2024
"We absolutely loved our stay at Goddard Mead! The cottage had everything we needed and the walks right outside were perfect. The owners made us feel really welcome, such lovely people. Highly recommend!"
Julia - Jan 2024
"The owners here are genuinely lovely and super helpful, especially when the power went out during the storm. The place is spotless, really warm and our dog loved the enclosed yard. The hot tub was a bonus too!"
Sarah - Jan 2024
"We loved the cosy log burner and the hot tub was a real treat after exploring. The hosts were so friendly, made us feel at home. Hope to come back soon!"
Lucy - Jan 2024
"The cottage was really charming and perfect for some peaceful downtime. Just a heads-up, there are planes flying at night near Stanstead, but the hot tub made up for it!"
Jane - Dec 2023
"We absolutely loved our stay here! The setting is so peaceful and private, it felt like a little retreat. The owners are super friendly and always there if you need anything, but they respect your space completely. The hot tub was a real highlight after cycling around all day. One thing to note, though, is that the cottage is right under Stansteds flight path, so there can be quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much once we got used to it, but its worth mentioning if you're sensitive to noise. Overall, a lovely place!"
Raj - Dec 2023
"We really enjoyed our stay here. The peaceful countryside was just what we needed and the hot tub definitely made it special. Perfect spot for relaxing walks and unwinding. Loved it!"
Sophie - Nov 2023
"We really enjoyed our visit. The setting was beautiful and walking with the dogs was so relaxing."
Ellie - Nov 2023
"We had a lovely stay at this cosy cottage tucked away on a working farm, but surprisingly private. Robert and Sharon, the hosts, are truly lovely and make you feel at home. The place is surprisingly spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen and a comfy bed that we didnt want to leave. The garden is perfect for dogs-completely secluded and furnished nicely. There are plenty of walks nearby and Thaxteds restaurants, like The Star and The Maypole, are worth a visit. Wed definitely recommend it!"
George - Oct 2023
"We really enjoyed our stay. The cottage felt super cosy and private, yet it was close enough to town for convenience. The hot tub was fantastic after a day out and the underfloor heating kept everything nice and warm. Rob, Sharon and Bonnie made us feel so welcome. Can't wait to return!"
James - Oct 2023
"The place was really calming and perfect for our dogs with that fully fenced garden. Lovely stay!"
Amelia - Sep 2023
"We stayed at this place during a rainy December and it was super cosy and well equipped, which made all the difference. The bath was so relaxing and the shower was perfect after a long day. The location is really peaceful, even with the nearby flight path, we barely noticed. Perfect spot for dogs that hate fireworks - theyd love it here! Thanks a lot for a lovely stay."
Harriet - Aug 2023
"We had a really lovely stay at this peaceful spot. The owners are super friendly and always ready to help without intruding on your privacy. The location is beautiful and private, perfect for relaxing. The hot tub was a real treat after a day out cycling. One thing to keep in mind is the noise from planes overhead since its right under Stansteds flight path. It took us a couple of hours to get used to it, but honestly, it didnt spoil our trip. Would definitely recommend for a quiet getaway!"
Rajesh - Jun 2023
"We had an amazing stay! The cottage was charming, with a lovely hot tub and cosy log burner. Hosts were super friendly and welcoming. Hope to come back soon!"

Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 34 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
