Landal Barnsoul Reviews

"The lodge was really cosy and just right for our stay. The only downer was no microwave, which would've been handy. Still, perfect for what we needed!"
Emma Clarke - Mar 2025
"We had such a lovely stay! The lodge was fantastic, really well situated on the site and everything we needed was there. The kitchen was well stocked and those Rituals toiletries were a nice surprise. We loved sitting on the decking at both ends and catching the sun early morning and evening. We got really lucky with the weather too, hitting 17 in March! Honestly, cant fault it and wed definitely recommend to others. Cant wait to see how it improves with the new development!"
Emma - Mar 2025
"We loved the peaceful setting, but unfortunately, our oven was broken, which was a real pain. We had hoped to cook a nice birthday meal, but that didn't happen. After a long day of travelling, it was frustrating to find out it didnt work, especially on my partners birthday. We spent ages chasing it up and only got access to another lodge the next evening - not great, really."
Emma - Mar 2025
"Good value, worth trying out"
Oliver - Mar 2025
"Our Landal Barnsoul review: We really enjoyed our stay at lodge 10. The place was spotless and modern, with the rare bonus of en-suite bathrooms in both bedrooms. Just a few more curtains and bedside cabinets would make it perfect!"
Oliver - Mar 2025
"Really happy with it, though a bedside table in the bedroom would be handy! Great overall."
Sam - Feb 2025
"We stayed in these lodges during a chilly February and they were genuinely lovely-so much better than Centre Parcs! Theyre really cosy and well-kept. Personally, Id pick a microwave over a washer/dryer anyday, but thats just us. Definitely recommend!"
Emma - Feb 2025
"We had a lovely stay at Landal Barnsoul overall. The lodge itself was stunning and felt really modern and comfortable. However, we did face a few minor issues. The TV in the lounge was pretty small considering it was our main spot for watching TV and the source button didnt work, so we stuck with Freeview. The biggest hassle was the connection problem with Netflix and the TV, which took up quite a bit of our time. Luckily, the next day, the staff sorted us out, which we really appreciated. The hot tub area was a bit of a letdown, not very aesthetic and it wasnt covered, so it felt a bit exposed. Plus, you had to go through the bedroom to get to the bathrooms, which was a bit inconvenient-made the floor wet and less private. In other Landal parks, you can access the en suite bathrooms directly from the hot tub area, which is much better. Still, everyone on the team was super friendly and helpful, which made a big difference in the end. Wed definitely come back!"
Emma Carter - Feb 2025
"Really enjoyed the peaceful vibe here, perfect for unwinding. The new facilities look promising, though theyre still in progress. Definitely a lovely escape!"
Claire - Feb 2025
"Great cabin, had everything we wanted and more!"
Emily Carter - Jan 2025
"Really enjoyed our stay here, the lodge was super comfy and well equipped. The dog pack was a sweet touch!"
Claire - Jan 2025
"Great experience, definitely coming again!"
Olivia - Dec 2024
"We stayed at this lodge recently and honestly, its the best one weve come across. The place is really high spec and super comfy. Plus, its genuinely dog friendly - not just in name. The sites still developing, but we didnt see any work over the weekend. The new restaurant and pool sound like theyll make it even better!"
Emma - Nov 2024
"Really good value, well definitely visit again soon!"
Jamie - Nov 2024
"Absolutely loved the stay! The lodges exceeded our expectations and everything was spot on."
Emma - Nov 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge. It was beautifully decorated, super comfy beds and everything felt of a high standard. Attention to detail definitely stood out for us!"
Emma - Nov 2024
"Comfortable and stylish"
Emma Carter - Nov 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge, it looks fantastic and has a modern vibe. Can't wait until the build is fully finished because it will look even better! That said, a few things could be improved-like the finishing touches, which werent quite up to scratch and slightly took away from the sleek look. It could have been cleaner too, with cobwebs around. A vacuum wouldve been handy, as we only had a dustpan and brush. Also, the front door needs some sort of cover or privacy glass for better privacy. Still, we had a lovely time overall!"
Alex - Oct 2024
"Cozy, lovely stay"
Emily Carter - Sep 2024
"The lodge was stunning, spacious and full of cosy touches. We really enjoyed feeling a touch of luxury!"
Emma - Jul 2024
"We spent four nights at Landal Burnsoul starting 6th May and from the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed. Colin greeted us warmly and gave us all the tips to enjoy our stay. Originally booked a two-bed lodge, but to our surprise, we got upgraded to a three-bedroom one - definitely a lovely touch! Walking in, we were blown away by the spacious, open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining area. The three en-suite bedrooms were spot on and Bailey, our dog, absolutely loved the decking area. The outdoor furniture was super comfy, perfect for relaxing. The weather was gorgeous and the peaceful spot made it all the more special. Honestly, we loved it so much, weve already booked again for June - cant wait to go back!"
Emma Carter - May 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay here! Its a lovely spot, but definitely need a car since its quite remote. Some extra storage like drawers in the kitchen would be handy-crockery just sat in the cupboard. The main bedroom only has hanging space, so a small table or shelf by the bed would be a bonus. Hooks on doors or walls would help with coats too. Since we brought our dog, a gate on the porch would be perfect. Looking forward to seeing more amenities when they build up the place-maybe a shop or bar! Would stay again!"
Emma Carter - Mar 2024
"We loved the cabin! Its super cosy and stylish, with everything beautifully arranged. Honestly, we couldnt find a single fault. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to others. Great experience!"
Emily - Mar 2024
"We really enjoyed staying at this stylish lodge. The layout was spot on for our group and it felt modern and comfy. A bedside table or microwave wouldve been nice, but honestly, we couldnt complain too much. It was a lovely stay overall!"
Emma - Mar 2024
"We had a really great long weekend at Landal Barnsoul. The lodge was lovely and comfortable. Only thing wed suggest is adding a gate on the balcony for dogs-ours kept trying to get out, so thatd be a good idea!"
Jamie - Mar 2024
"We loved the lodge! The bed was super comfy and the quilt was spot on. Pillows werent perfect, but honestly, it didnt ruin the stay at all. Highly recommend!"
Mark - Mar 2024
"We recently stayed in an Orka 1.0 spa lodge and honestly, it was fantastic! The place was spotless, bright and had such a cosy feel, blending perfectly with the natural surroundings. The only thing we missed was a dining table in the lodge-would have been handy for quick meals. But honestly, the highlight was chilling in the hot tub at night under the clear skies, watching shooting stars with the streams gentle sounds in the background. It was such a peaceful, memorable experience. For a short break, wed definitely come back, though for longer stays, wed opt for a bigger lodge. Absolutely loved it!"
Emma - Feb 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay here! The lodge was absolutely lovely, with a great view over the woods, perfect for our family of four. Sure, the entrance road isnt quite finished yet, but we get that theres still work going on and honestly, it didnt bother us. Were excited to come back once everythings completed, maybe even sooner if we can. Thanks for a lovely experience - cant wait to see the full development!"
Alex - Feb 2024
"We stayed in the Orka Pet 1.0 lodge over Christmas 2023 and overall, it was a decent experience. When we looked at reviews beforehand, we noticed there wasnt a dining table or microwave, which seemed odd. The day before we arrived, a staff member contacted us and kindly offered to bring a small table and chairs from reception - we really appreciated that, as it would've been a pain otherwise. The lodge itself had a couple of annoyances; the bedroom was missing side tables, which felt a bit strange - honestly, they should be standard in any holiday let. Privacy was a bit of a concern too. The lodge was quite overlooked by others and the one next door was empty, but the front door has glass on both sides with no blinds, so at night, when the lights are on, you could see right in - not ideal. The bed was on the small side, but super comfy and the linen and towels felt brand new. We loved the location - its still early days for the site, but we can see its going to be really lovely in a few years. We love the concept, just think a bit more thought on comfort and privacy would make it perfect. Thanks!"

Mabie Farm Park is a firm favourite. Ideal for families with younger children ,this family oriented farm park has lots of animals to meet and also offers Donkey Rides, Paddle Boats and Slides as well as Trampolines and Bouncy Castles. Kids can run around on the Soft Play Area while mum and dad relax in the Tea Room. There is also a Farm Shop onsite selling toys, gifts and fresh local produce including cakes and jams. We also recommend a visit to Castle Douglas and the Treasure Hunt Treasure Trails. These treasure hunts are great fun for the whole family and are an entertaining way to explore a new town or village. Children will enjoy solving the clues whilst learning about the history of the area. The walking trail is suitable for wheelchair users and those with pushchairs so no one is left out of the fun.

We love this day out in Cumbria where you're encouraged to "take a fresh look".  Some of the amazing animals you will get to see include the only Canadian Lynx in the UK and you will have the opportunity to help their Lynx Conservation Project.  The Asian Fishing Cat is also well worth a look - these cats are known for diving under the water and catching fish!  Other activities include fantastic flying displays and play areas for the little ones...
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 34 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
