We honestly could find no fault. Very good.

We wanted somewhere special and as these lodges were part of the Autograph collection we decided to give them a go. We are so glad we did. I have never felt so chilled out. The lodge was beautiful and had a hot tub tucked away on the deck outside which was bliss. The local pub is easy to get to and reasonable for food and drinks. The curry was amazing.

Hilltop is a lovely cosy cottage great for getting away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. The cottage has everything you could need and included and lovely little welcome pack of tea, coffee and biscuits and some sachets of bath/shower products.
The bed is comfortable and is dressed with cosy bedding.
The hot tub is just lovely for relaxing after a day out and knowing the cottage is secluded and out of the way from passing traffic makes it a perfect setting for star gazing in peace at night.
Yvonne, Liskeard

Date of stay: 27th July 2018
had a lovely week at hilltop cottage, the cottage had everything you needed and was very clean, the hot tub was great and checked regularly, had a nice welcome from the owner and nothing was to much trouble for her, this is not a complaint but the road up to hilltop cottage is a farm road and not recommended for a Ferrari or car with lowered suspension but no problem for a normal car, had a phone call from sue before the holiday to give me travel directions, in a great location to visit attractions in the area, its nice and peaceful at night and a comfy mattress so you will get a good nights sleep, highly recommended holiday location
Rebecca, Clevedon

Date of stay: 3rd November 2017
Very comfortable and well equipped, would only add that a chair could be added to the bedroom as no where to sit at dressing table
Date of stay: 27th October 2017
Lovely little cottage, well-equipped and comfortable. Hot tub was obviously a hit. The dog Sam & the chickens were an added bonus! Owners are lovely - next door but you still feel quite private. Quite a remote location however plenty to do if you're willing to travel. As other reviews point out it is up the top of a rocky road however we managed it in a KIA picanto so don't let that put you off!
Robert, Pontypool
Date of stay: 6th October 2017
Lovely cottage. Only 2 negatives which were the Hot Tub seemed under powered and 2 of the light switches in the house were loose/ broken and a bit fiddly to get on in the dark.

Date of stay: 14th July 2017
Holiday was very enjoyable. We were looking for a nice peaceful break and that is what Wharf offered us. Only slight comment is that the temperature values on the oven had worn off so it was difficult to set an accurate temperature, but as we only used it once it wasn't really a problem.
Michaela, Doncaster
Date of stay: 3rd July 2017
Lodge had everything you would need and more a real home from home experience and we lived comfortably for a week and could of stayed longer happily. Plenty of space and lovely lay out , kids slept well one been 18months so must of been like home. Thankyou

Christopher, Caerphilly
Date of stay: 19th June 2017
amazing long weekend away.. We were looking for something quiet and miles away from anything and it did not disappoint in the slightest, Sue was amazing and if we needed anything we just had to ask and we had the warmest welcome from the softest dog possible, don't pass up on the chance to experience Hilltop or any other of the available cottages.

10/10 and we will be back.
Carolyn, Farnborough

Date of stay: 12th May 2017
Lovely relaxing stay with our dog at Wicket lodge. Well-equipped kitchen and the upstairs has a niced galleried area. Bed very comfortable. There were lovely walks along the canal towpath which was very close to our lodge (there are picnic tables close to the nearby bridge (down a few steps), and the garden was completely enclosed and secure for our dog, and maximum privacy for humans. The hot tub was very relaxing. You will need a car to explore the surrounding area or to go shopping or eating out. We stayed for 5 days but could have stayed a few more.
Michael, Congleton
Date of stay: 8th May 2017
I jave already reviewed on trip advisor as it was a fantastic place with everything we needed inside the lodge and outside. The staff were helpful and friendly. The whole place was immaculately clean. Could not fault this and would recommend anyone to go. Outstanding break.

Very dog friendly but didn't look tired as some accommodation of this type does. Lovely private garden and hot tub. A quiet site, with Wicket tucked in the corner.

Kirsty, Newport South Wales
Date of stay: 16th January 2017
Absolutely amazing me and my partner felt so relaxed amazing getaway for his birthday would definitely recommend to friends hot tub was great I only gave a 7 to furniture due to there being separate sofas I think in hilltop it could do with a little corner sofa so it's more romantic but everything else was perfect including the chickens outside would go again in a heartbeat x
Muhmad, Southampton
Date of stay: 16th January 2017
Amazing place!! Clean n tidy n the facilities were just amazing! Love the hot tub
Date of stay: 16th December 2016
We booked the hopper however had a phone call the day before to say that the accommodation wasn't up to standard so upgraded us to the wicket. Have rated based on the wicket lodge. The necessary work was carried out on the hopper will we were there. This also looked like a fantastic accommodation.
Date of stay: 5th December 2016
Could do with heated towel rails as their isn't anywhere to dry towels --no where to hang a coat --we were told that we should hang them outside ( in the winter?) For dog owners and walker this is a very good location byes we would go again
Simon, Hastings
Date of stay: 28th November 2016

Date of stay: 26th September 2016
Lovely private hot tub and patio. Accommodation very clean and well equipped. The only downside is the noise and speed of the lorries that go past to and from the quarry that is nearby. However, it didn't spoil our break and I would definitely stay again. Across the road is a lovely walk along the canal. Would recommend.
Peter, Lincolnshire

Had a wonderful time. Hilltop was up a long gravel lane, no through road which mean't no traffic. We heard no traffic and the rolling countryside was lovely. especially sat in the hot tub!! The owners were great people. :-)

Jez and Marie.
Peter, Handcross
Date of stay: 16th May 2016
Shame the gap in the fencing allowed you to be seen as you go to the hot tub, otherwise lovely.

Louise, Cardiff
Date of stay: 14th March 2016

Richard, Swindon
Date of stay: 22nd February 2016
Good value for money, couldn't find anything as cheap which had a hot tub. Main road a few feet away, fortunately we stayed on a weekend so didn't get the lorry noise from the but did hear it Monday morning. Would have been so disappointed if we had booked a mid week stay as expected it to be rural, there were no mention of a main road right on the doorstep. Hopper was spacious clean and hot tub was lovely. Not a lot to do in the area, an hour plus either way to the beach. Nice walk along the canal nearby so we did that everyday instead.
Margaret, Coventry
Date of stay: 5th February 2016
Very comfortable lodge that had all that we needed. The hot tub was very private and relaxing after a long walk along the canal. There is a charge for Robes so remember to take your own.
Louise, Bristol
Date of stay: 18th January 2016
I did feel a bit of anticipation after I read a couple of reviews, about how close the owners were too the cottage and the hot tub not being that private. But I had no need to worry as the owners were lovely and we only saw them in the morning and evening. We did not have any problem when using the hot tub, it was very secluded, with the most amazing view. Cottage is a little dated, but very clean and very well equipped. The bed was so comfy. Yes I would definitely stay at Hilltop again.
Debbie, Worcester
Date of stay: 3rd January 2016
We enjoyed our stay at whipcott waters. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. The hot tub was amazing and we were able to walk down by the canal which was literally over the lane. There was a small town with shops within ten minutes and two bigger towns were both within 40 minutes by car and there were plenty of local pubs and resturants......................... perfect.
Sarah, Worcester
Date of stay: 4th December 2015
Lovely lodge, will definitely book Paddock again.
Tom, Harrogate
Date of stay: 30th November 2015
Spectacular time here. Even though the weather was typical for the time of year we went. taking a dip in the hot tub at silly o clock with the chilling winds was a wonderful experience. The building was watt and cozy when we came back to it. Will be back again

Date of stay: 16th November 2015
The barge was well equipped, lovely and warm on arrival. hair drier/iron supplied. Complimentary tea/coffee.
Michael, Hayes
Date of stay: 13th November 2015
The lodge was clean and tidy. The beds are comfortable & it had a well equipped kitchen.
The hot-tub was in itself clean and worked well. The area that it was situated in is scruffy with over growing shrubs and bushes. A warning, in the brochure, about slight traffic noise from the (very) nearby road turned out to be excessive especially early in the morning, and started about 7am. There is also a lack shelf space in the main bathroom for toiletries.
Selasi, London
Date of stay: 6th November 2015
Beautiful trip we stayed 4 nights. A young city couple celebrating their two year anniversary. We loved it. We stayed in the Hilltop cottage. LOVED the hot tub looking up at the stars.

Date of stay: 12th October 2015
We stayed in the Hilltop cottage, it was absoultley lovely! The cottage was cosy and the bed was so comfy, The cottage was clean and had everything thing you needed and more! The hot tub was fantastic and Sue was really welcoming and helpful! We had an amazing carvery at the Holywell pub on the Sunday. The only thing was the road leading up to the cottage was a bit bumpy but as long as you drive slow it was fine. We had such a lovely stay!

Date of stay: 11th September 2015
Flare was perfect for us, it was a shame the sofa wasn't more cosy but a minor thing. Very good size accomodation for two or even four. they were putting new matresses in all units when we arrived and the bed was comfy. The hot tub was checked every day unobtrusively. Although the hot tub is private Flare's 'garden area' is round the front of the lodge whereas the others seemed to be more private but it did mean we got sun afternoon and early evening. We hope to visit again.
J, Isle Of Wight
Date of stay: 28th August 2015
If you want relaxation, an excellent location and a well equipped peaceful lodge, look no further. If you want noise, hassle, entertainment, music and CHAV's please go elsewhere!
Emma, Bournemouth
Date of stay: 24th August 2015
A beautiful area and a lovely, clean, spacious, well equipped lodge with a fantastic jacuzzi to help you really relax! It was also very secluded. Had it not been for the unfortunate loud lorry noises going to the quarry it would have been absolutely perfect!
Petra, Norwich
Date of stay: 10th August 2015
Lovely place to stay and accommodation was great. Could do with softer sofa and pegs for coats. The hot tub was a massive plus and the boys loved it.

Well worth the money, clean comfortable and plenty of room. Made a great base to set off from each day and a great place to return to tired and worn out.

Good internet access kept the kids quiet and entertained while we relaxed.

The hot tub was awesome and like the rest of the place was very clean and well maintained.

Highly recommended

The lodge itself was like home from home. Never been on a self catering holiday with such well equipped accommodation. There is everything from a cheese grater to a freezer. It was very clean, and towels provided were clean and fluffy. The beds where comfortable too. On arrival, there is a little welcome tray with tea/coffee and they provide you with washing up liquid and dish cloth, plus tea towels. Due to poor weather we spent 2 very comfortable days in the lodge, just relaxing, but having the free wifi is a major bonus, and kept the kids happy. The hot tub, was just perfect, it was clean and treated every morning. Overall, it was a fantastic holiday and we would certainly book again.

We have never stayed anywhere that it so well equipped - the owners have thought of everything and nothing is too much trouble. The cottage is modern, the two en-suites are a very good size and unexpected for a relatively small cottage that sleeps 4. The hot tub was also amazing and the place is clearly very well looked after. We will not hesitate in returning.

Very nice cottage. A lovely place for a quiet and secluded getaway!
Had everything we needed, including freshly laid eggs from the owner's hens. Unbelievable how many stars you can see on a clear night from the hot tub!

Towpath was very nice, would benefit from a second bathroom, and also the TV needs to be looked at as you have to swap the scart lead between tv and DVD for them to work and this caused issues.

Date of stay: 27th December 2014
We stayed in Towpath over Christmas with 3 children aged 6,4 & 2 and were very impressed with the accommodation. We were very comfortable and barely left the lodge throughout our 4 day stay. Hot tub was a nice feature, kitchen was well equipped, open plan lounge and balcony area was spacious. We would definitely consider visiting again next year

Only one very small minor issue was that the shower was very temperamental - switching between very hot and lukewarm every 30 seconds or so and the pressure was low. Other than that the accomodation was lovely, very comfy bed, great hot tub which we loved using! Also worth mentioning the TV signal is not amazing and a bit of a buzzing sound but really we werent on holiday to watch Tv so it was fine for our needs. Lovely surroundings, will definately come back!
Date of stay: 1st December 2014
Very spacious accommodation. Lovely surroundings. Enjoyed the hot tub too.

Only negative was the knives in the kitchen were very blunt so a tad difficult to chop anything. But this is only a minor flaw. Thoroughly enjoyed otherwise.

We managed to get a last minute deal and it was worth every penny! Unfortunately we would struggle to hire the lodge at full price but will be keeping an eye out for similar opportunities (and offers!) at Whipcott Water in the future.

Hopper was a lovely lodge. Well equipped and comfortable. If I had to give constructive criticism I would say the beds would benefit from new mattresses as they were serviceable but not that comfortable or luxurious unlike the rest of the furniture and fittings. Of course everyone has different comfort levels so you cant please all.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, great peaceful surrounding, would recommend to friends and family. If visiting Somerset or Devon I would definately re-book. This is the nicest lodge we have stayed in to date.

Flare was amazing, great value for money. I must admit I was not expecting half of what was there. Loads of space, extremely clean and well looked after. Kitchen was equipped with everything you could possible need. Finally, the hot tub, oh. my. god! It was incredible, also don't put off if your booking during Autumn/Winter time thinking it will be too cold to enjoy the hot tub. Me and my partner were there for the last week of October and were in the hot tub all day and through most of the night in all weathers!!
Date of stay: 24th October 2014
The only thing that lets this property down is the trucks going to the quary from 0630. Otherwise a very nice place to stay if you want a very quiet break.
Date of stay: 17th October 2014
A more comfortable sofa and chairs would be nice and the electric log effect stove stopped making so much noise would be good, everything else was wonderful.

The lodge itself was brilliant, clean, homily enough to be comfortable, the bed was comfy and clean, had all the necessities including plastic champagne glasses for the hot tub. Came with plenty of info about the area, the hot tub was immaculate and easy to use, i really like the smaller touches like fresh flowers in the sitting area and toilet roll to a point.
Faye, Portsmouth

Needs fence to separate you from the road or a gate at the entrance, at present this lodge is not suitable for families as advertised. That road next to it is a major hazard with the regular passing lorries. The noise wasn't an issue for us. The lodge itself is great couldn't fault. The hot tub wasn't great, older model and not very powerful. The overhanging plants and trees so close to the hot tub is not a great idea either. They attract a lot of bugs and I got bitten by a horse fly trying to get into the hot tub one early evening, not a nice experience! The horseflies were everywhere, even indoors :(

Owners very accommodating and cottage in very quiet position even though it was separate from the other lodges.
Steep bumpy track up to the cottage but as weather was dry we had no problems
We stayed at the paddock and could not fault anything, very clean a proper home from home with the added bonus of a hot tub. The constant passing lorries could prove a problem to some people but not to us.
Very nice cottage with beautiful scenery, amazing hot tub. Well worth the money paid. Would definitely return in the future.
Great break away and peaceful
Lovely place, very relaxing especially the hot tub! Would definitely recommend.
Great place to escape for a relaxing weekend
Lovely setting and private. Everything was catered for and the owner very helpful. Hot tub was a bonus.
Really lovely, would definitely recommend and would book again. Lovely location.
Great location, very clean, hot tub was amazing
We received a very warm personal welcome from Sue. The cottage was beautiful and contained everything we needed. The location was just perfect. Quiet for a much needed relaxing break. It wasn’t too far out, as only a car ride away, we went to local pubs for meals and went to Taunton for a day out. So near. The hot tub was an added bonus. This was all ready for us on arrival. Free to use whenever we fancied. We were lucky with the weather. We could sit out the garden and enjoy a drink. Also went for a lovely walk, down to the river. We walked for a while along there. Overall a perfect weekend away. We would go back for longer next time 💖
Just what we wanted, a quiet break away with the girls. Lovely cottage which was clean and tidy with brilliant facilities. Hot tub was perfect.
We had a very relaxing and peaceful time which is what we set out to do. Sue, the manager was great and very helpful with local knowledge.
