About Head Fen Country Retreat

Head Fen Country Retreat will appeal to anyone who loves the countryside and is looking for a relaxing getaway in this region.  Sitting just ten minutes from Ely and 30 minutes from Cambridge there is so much to do from shopping and sightseeing to walks and exploring.  You'll be well placed to make the most of all East Anglia has to offer.

The lodges on site provide a delightful base for your stay.  Relax in your very own hot tub with beautiful lake views and on a clear day you can even see Ely Cathedral.

We love the Cathedral View Lodge Plus which offers panoramic views of The Fens and of course the wonderful lake.  The interior of the lodge is well designed with an open plan layout and even a coffee machine!  Outside you can enjoy the views from the decking and your own private hot tub.  With two bedrooms this lodge sleeps up to 6 people.

Another fantastic accommodation option is Egret House which also sleeps 6.  This beautiful and luxurious cottage offers plenty of space as well as a fantastic patio with outdoor hot tub and stunning views.

If you like fishing then you'll be in your element here with fishing available from the lake in site.  You won't have to travel to indulge in this relaxing hobby.

For a fun day out head to Weeting Castle.  Packed full of history and used right up until the 18th century this is a memorable experience.   Oxburgh Hall Garden in Kings Lynn is also well worth a visit.  You can take a garden tour or a woodland walk.

Hot tub holidays at Head Fen Country Retreat have received fantastic guest reviews!

"Clean and comfortable inside. Could have had a little more attention to cleanliness during a pandemic.
Would rate value for money higher, but felt it was quite steep for July and would probably visit at a later time in the year again."

"Stunning and relaxing.."
Kevin - Mar 2020
"We have been to stay at over 8 lodges in various locations and this one was rated number two by us out of them all.

Overall this is great stay if youre looking to chill and relax. The fact the WIFI was free and included was a great touch alongside access to television on a couple of nights when the rain came down.

The dog shower was neat and saved much mess and made the experience great we knew the dogs were welcomed as one of family."

"Best weekend with friends!!"
Katie - Feb 2020
"We really enjoyed our stay at Head Fen. It was very relaxing, not experienced a lodge like that where it is SO relaxing. Only downside is the road into the property, it's impossible to find at night-time, we turned up at 6pm, it was dark and impossible to know where you were going without driving into a big ditch! So I would strongly suggest better lighting all around to help this."
Matt - Feb 2020
"Fantastic location very quiet and serene. And the cabin and hot tub were great!"
Adam - Jan 2020
"Superb will be looking to come back again"

Michael - Jul 2022
"what a lovely remote place this was. would recommend this place if you want peace and quite"
GARRY - Jul 2022
"We had a lovely few days here. The receptionist rang on the Monday morning to go over a few things which was helpful, she did say they empty the hot tubs after each guest has left so it may not be up to temperature at our booking in time of 4pm it was at 34.5 degrees about 6.30pm which was ok with us and we did adjust the temperature so it was hotter for the next night. We took our dog and the park has lakes that you can walk round, we had lovely sunsets that we could watch from our deck area every night. We booked out of season (2 weeks prior to the school holidays) so the prices weren't too bad, but I feel you lose two days with a 4pm check in and 9am check out and the following week prices had doubled which surprised me as its a very quiet place, more geared for adults than children. But it was a lovely place and I'd definitely book again."
JULIE - Jul 2022
"Great place for couples - I wouldnt recommend for kiddies - the cabins and surroundings are great for adults wanting a break maybe a bit of fishing (mainly carp)"
Julia - Jun 2022
"My absolute favourite place to go . I love this place and cannot recommend it enough ."

"Was a lovely place really clean. Location was very picturesque .the cottage was very spacious. The lake outside the cottage was very tranquil we sat watching the fish and ducks."
Wendy - May 2022
"The pod we stayed in was lovely the only complaint was the two little chairs they were so uncomfortable if it had a 2 seater sofa it would have been perfect"
Mandie - May 2022
"Very relaxing holiday, just what we needed"
Pauline - May 2022

We love this attraction in Scoulton, Norfolk with a great collection of animals.  Children and adults alike have the chance to get hands on with the animals in the special handling areas.  On rainy days there is always the indoor play area for the little ones and when it's time for a bite to eat the cafe on the farm is open all day selling drinks and snacks.  Hot food is available over lunch times.
