Whispering Waters Teesdale Lodges Reviews

"We loved the peaceful atmosphere and beautiful scenery from the lodge. Its perfect for relaxing, though those steps to the car park did occasionally make us nervous, especially after a long day. Still, lovely stay!"
Emma - Mar 2025
"Wow, what a fantastic place! Weve done quite a few hot tub getaways over the years and honestly, this lodge might just be our favourite so far. The Otter cabin has stunning views that are perfect for relaxing, especially from the bubbling hot tub at night under the stars. Its really dog-friendly too, with gated decking, grassy areas and lovely river walks just a few steps away-our dog loved it! The hot tub was spotless, private and stayed warm the whole time, which was great. If you fancy venturing out, Barnard Castle is only about 15 minutes by car, with a pub, shop and chip shop nearby for convenience. The log burner made everything feel super cosy and we really appreciated the extra treats left for us and our dog when we arrived-that was such a sweet touch. Big thanks to Bill for being a lovely host; it was great to meet you! Were already planning our return to Whispering Lodges soon!"
Ellie - Mar 2025
"We loved the place! Everything was spotless and well-stocked, plus the thoughtful basket with tea, coffee and snacks made it feel really cosy. Perfect for a quick getaway!"
Emma - Feb 2025
"We had such a lovely stay at this little gem by the River Tees. The location is incredibly peaceful and perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle. The lodges facilities really suited us - especially the hot tub and the cosy log burner, which we couldn't get enough of. Its fantastic that dogs are welcome and the enclosed outside area was a real bonus for our pup to roam safely. The sliding patio doors are a lovely touch, offering stunning views of the fields and river right from the bed - waking up to that was just beautiful. Theres plenty to see and do around here, so were already planning our next visit. Cant recommend it enough!"
Emma Carter - Jan 2025
"Our Whispering Waters Teesdale Lodges review: Great spot, friendly pub and shop nearby, loved the hot tub!"
Emma - Jan 2025
"We had such a lovely time at the lodge! It really had everything we needed and the hot tub with views of the river and sheep was just perfect for relaxing. The location was handy too, with plenty to explore nearby. Honestly, wed definitely come back - its a great spot for a family break!"
Sarah - Jan 2025
"We loved the cosy vibe of the lodge, with its modern decor and peaceful atmosphere. Perfect for a relaxing walk and unwind!"
Emma - Aug 2020
"Really enjoyed the experience"
James - Aug 2020
"Really enjoyed our stay at this eco-lodge. The view was stunning and the owners were lovely. The cakes, milk, tea and coffee really made it special."
Oliver - Mar 2020
"This lodge really ticks all the boxes for us. Its so cosy and welcoming, with little touches that make a difference-like the homemade cake and fizz. The starter pack of essentials was handy and they genuinely care about pets, with treats and bowls ready for our dog. The owners are lovely, nothings too much trouble. Cant wait to come back again!"
Emma - Mar 2020
"We stayed at Whispering Waters a few weeks back and honestly, were still talking about how lovely it was. Sorry its taken us ages to get round to saying thanks! Bill, Sue and Bea really made us feel at home; theyre so welcoming and attentive. Even though our plans changed and our group was smaller than expected, we had such a chilled-out break in the most stunning setting. The welcome basket was a sweet touch and kept us busy trying all the treats. The drive from Cornwall was long, but totally worth it - especially since Bill suggested the Fox Hole for dinner. The belly pork there? Absolutely to die for! The lodge itself was just perfect - thoughtful little details everywhere, making for a proper stress-free escape. We left feeling relaxed and refreshed, which is just what we needed. Cant recommend Whispering Waters enough if you want a peaceful retreat in beautiful surroundings. Thanks so much to Bill, Sue and Bea for making our stay so special!"
Alex - Mar 2020
"We had a fantastic stay at this lodge! The location is peaceful and away from the hustle, perfect for unwinding. The place itself is super modern and comfy, with all the amenities you could want - internet, TV and a thoughtful welcome pack with milk, bread, tea, sugar and some sweets. Everything was spotless and well-maintained. The log burner was a nice touch and they even provided kindling and lighters, which was handy. The detailed welcome folder covered all the info youd need about the lodge and local area, making check-in smooth. Were a family of four and honestly, the kids loved it so much they didnt want to leave! The only thing to keep in mind is that, because its an eco lodge, running out of logs can make it a bit chilly at night, but there were plenty of blankets. We only lit the fire on the last night - otherwise, it was cosy enough without it. Great place overall!"
Alex - Feb 2020

Emma - Jan 1970
"We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge. It was spotless and beautifully decorated, making us feel right at home. The hot tub was a real highlight, perfect for unwinding after a day out. The welcome pack was such a lovely touch, we appreciated it a lot. Only downside was the tiny ice box in the fridge - it couldnt keep things frozen for long. A bigger fridge would be a big help if staying longer."
Emily - Jan 1970
"Really good little lodge, beds are comfy but sofas feel a bit tight."
