South Lakeland Leisure Village Reviews

"Absolutely stunning lodge!"
Verified Guest - Mar 2024
"Lovely & clean, warm comfortable. Furniture looks new like a refit , bathrooms dated & hallway doors dreary.Everything you need in the kitchen. Just a bit dated but price for weekend stay reflects that. We were not disappointed though as enjoyed it all. Lovely open view to grassed area at the front."
Lynda - Mar 2024
"Very nice lodge . The addition of games and books was a nice touch .The outside decking area with furniture would have been great but in Feb not quite the weather.I think maybe larger sofa needed if 6 adults were staying ( 2x2 seaters provided)Prosecco and chocs a nice touch on arrival."
Deborah - Feb 2024
"Beautiful lodge the only thing I had to do when I arrived was clean the windows. That is understandable as there is lots of wildlife so totally didnt mind doing that "
Paul - Aug 2020
"The only issue I had was with the beds. They were too soft so I ended up sleeping on the sofa."

Alaa - Jul 2016
"Apart from the heat, (which can't be helped and really don't want to complain about the little sun we get!) the country home was fantastic. Our daughter loved it, the kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed for self catering. Beds were very comfortable and overall decor was fine. Stairs leading up to the country home were very rickety which was a little unnerving as I was heavily pregnant but that didn't affect our enjoyment of the holiday one bit and would still recommend it."
Kate - Jun 2016
"What a brilliant 1st anniversary me and my husband had, the lodge was fab & clean and the views of the lake are gorgeous. We also had a full body massage in the spa which was amazing, the restraunt is lovely and food also. We also had brilliant weather for the whole week and explored the gorgeous lakes. Elizabeth & Sam Gee"
Samuel - May 2016
"Beautiful lodge; we were situated around the lake and had a fantastic view. We used the on site gym and swimming pool for a small fee. Only thing I would have liked to see is an on site shop selling essentials as we had to call to local supermarket just for milk and bread. Great food in resteraunt but took quite a while to get the food even though it wasnt that busy. Will definitely go again."
Nikki - May 2016
"Accommodation was great apart from the bunk bed mattresses which needed replacing - springs could be felt through the mattress"
Bridget - May 2016
"The lodge was like a home from home and had everything we needed. The only drawback the Internet connection wasn't very good."
Julie - Apr 2016
"Great location, the country house we stayed in was lovely. It's very clean, modern & spacious with all bedrooms & bathrooms on ground floor & lounge, kitchen on the first floor. It's also very close to the park restaurant, bar & swimming pool facilities."
Amanda - Jan 2016
"Lovely lodge it was very comfortable and clean"
Stephen - Sep 2015
"Stunning well equipped spotlessly clean lodge. Brilliant lakeside location with hot tub. Would highly recommend."
Geoff - Aug 2015
"Spacious and luxurious, could have done with the option of towels and a groceries pack."
Laura - Apr 2015
"Very quiet peaceful site, unfortunately the restaurant cannot run at capacity due to staffing shortages, so limited menu. Very relaxing and a good base for the lakes etc."
Sara - Aug 2022
"We were very impressed with the facilities at South Lake Land leisure Village and will be returning"

Bethany - Jul 2022
"Lovely setting on the edge of the Lake District and Yorkshire dales. From our lodge we did have a view of the lake and was in a quiet setting. On some parts of the site, there was traffic noise. Swimming pool, gym and restaurant onsite as well."

Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.

Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.
Bowland Wild Boar Park - PR3 2QT

Head for the Bowland Wild Boar park and we don't think you will be disappointed.  A popular attraction in Preston there is so much to do for the whole family.  From picnics, walks and wildlife to experiencing feeding the animals you are sure to have a memorable day out.  Also popular is the kids tractor play area.  For rest and relaxation the cafe is ideal serving hot drinks and snacks with a lovely view over the pond and wildlife feeding station.  The Forest of Bowland has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
South Lakes Safari Zoo - LA12 0LU

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.

The home of William Wordsworth from 1813 - 1850 the grand home is now lived in by the poets descendents but parts of the house and grounds are open to the public. Why not take a guided tour and see the rooms where many of the famous poems were written. The gardens are beautiful at all times of the year but in the summer offer a spectacular display of colour. There is also a gallery and a tearoom. Discounts are available for group bookings.
Ullswater Steamers - CA11 0US

This is an award winning Lake District attraction and they have been operating cruisers on Lake Ullswater for over 150 years.  There is no better way to explore the lakes than on water and you could even combine a cruise with a spectacular walk.  For great days out in this region then this attraction is highly recommended and will appeal to couples as well as families.  Corporate groups are also well catered for.
