"5 Stars A Fantastic Family Getaway!We recently stayed at Wkyes Lodges in Guisborough and had an amazing time! We were in the lodge called Journeys End, which was spacious, clean, and really well equippedperfect for a relaxing break.The kids absolutely loved the hot tub and spent hours enjoying the outdoor space and the play area on-site. Gez and his wife were incredibly welcoming and friendlynothing was too much trouble. On our first day, the electric tripped, but Gez quickly had a sparky out the next morning and got the breaker replaced, which really impressed us.The location was also ideal. We took day trips to Locomotion in Shildon, Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, and Scarboroughall within easy driving distance and great for family adventures.Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would definitely recommend Wkyes Lodges to anyone looking for a family-friendly, well-run place to relax and explore North Yorkshire. Thanks again to Gez and the team!"

"From the moment we arrived, the staff went out of their way to help us settle in and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The views from the lodge are absolutely stunning, really a highlight. One minor thing Id suggest is adding blinds to the patio doors - itd be handy to block out the sun sometimes, even if it does block a tiny bit of the view. Overall, a lovely place to stay!"
"Staff could not do enough to help on arrival and throughout our stay.Views were great. On a personal note I think the lodge could do with blinds in the patio doors. I know this would block some of the view but it would be nice to have the option of having them there to use if you wished, because at times the sun is directly blasting into the lodge seating area. "We absolutely loved our stay at this cosy lodge! The location is spot on, with plenty of lovely walks nearby and stunning views of Roseberry Topping right from the site. The owners are super friendly and really helpful, which made everything even nicer. Only thing is, theres no freezer, just a fridge, so plan your ice needs accordingly. It would also be great if they added some blinds or curtains to the big front windows to make it more private at night. Overall though, a fantastic spot wed definitely come back to!"

In a great location, close to many places and great walks to do around the area.Brilliant views of Roseberry topping from the site.Very helpful and friendly owners.Only things to note is that there is no freezer only a fridge.Would be nice for some blind/curtains on the big windows at the front of the lodge to make it cosier on a night.Overall a great place. Would definitely recommend and would visit again."

"We stayed in lodge number 3, which was called Captain Cook. for 5 nights in July. Denise and Jed made us feel so welcome on arrival and the lodge was beautiful and very well appointed with everything you need. The hot tub was gorgeous with an amazing view of Roseberry Topping. We were very lucky with the weather as it was sunny the whole time. From Wyke Lodges we went to Whitby, Saltburn and Staithes (all a short drive away) and walked along the Guisborough forest trail along the disused railway to a nice cafe for brunch. The lodge site is lovely and the surrounding area is beautiful with so much to explore and we would love to return one day."

Flamingo Land is a theme park, zoo and resort at Kirby Misperton in North Yorkshire. It has been running since 1959 and was the first site in Europe to combine rides and a zoo. The theme park has eight themed areas, with thrill coasters such as Sik, Hero, Kumali and Velocity, plus gentler family and kids' rides.

Lightwater Valley is a family adventure park in North Stainley, near Ripon, set in 175 acres of North Yorkshire countryside. It began in 1969 as a self-pick fruit farm and grew into a theme park, and it was once home to The Ultimate, billed as the longest roller coaster in the world.
Tip: Book tickets online in advance, before midnight the day before your visit, to get the online discount rather than the on-the-day price.

The ruins of Whitby Abbey crown a clifftop above the historic fishing port of Whitby. The headland has been home to an Anglo-Saxon monastery, a great medieval abbey and a 17th-century mansion, and it has long been wrapped in myths and legends. The substantial remains of the abbey church are Grade I listed and cared for by English Heritage.
Tip: Head into the museum in Cholmley House as well as the ruins - it holds most of the stories of the headland.

HMS Trincomalee is a Royal Navy sailing frigate built shortly after the Napoleonic Wars. She was made in Bombay by the Wadia family of shipwrights, using teak because Britain was short of oak. She is now a museum ship afloat at the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Hartlepool.

Hopetown Darlington is a railway-themed visitor attraction spread across 7.5 acres of heritage railway land, on the 1825 route of the Stockton and Darlington Railway. It mixes indoor and outdoor sights, from the Victorian North Road Station Museum to the Carriage Works, where the Stores display a collection of more than 30,000 items from Darlington's railway history.
Tip: Head for the Goods Shed first: it is the main entrance to the site.

Mount Grace Priory is a ruined Carthusian monastery, founded in 1398 and set in woodland within the North York Moors National Park. It was the last monastery founded in Yorkshire, and its ruins are the best preserved and most accessible of the nine Carthusian houses in England. You can explore the priory and get a sense of what life was like for a monk.
Tip: Pick up a pamphlet pointing out the seasonal highlights, and walk through the meadow to the Monks' Pond.

A Romanesque cathedral and World Heritage Site with a tower climb, museum and the shrine of St Cuthbert.
Durham Cathedral is a Church of England cathedral and part of the Durham Castle and Cathedral World Heritage Site. A substantial part of the building was completed between 1093 and 1133, and it is a significant example of Romanesque architecture. The nave ceiling is the earliest surviving example of a pointed rib vault.
Tip: There is no parking at or near the cathedral, so use the Park and Ride or the Cathedral Bus into Durham. The tower is stairs only.
