Cayton Bay Reviews

"Very cramped and small. Would have liked a dishwasher."
Verified Guest - Jun 2025
"Really enjoyed our stay here, the place was charming and perfect for a relaxing weekend away."
Sophie - Apr 2025
"We stayed in a really spacious, extra-wide caravan that felt modern and well-equipped. The fridge freezer was a bonus and all beds were made on arrival, which was great after a long journey. The shower was surprisingly powerful and a good size-definitely a highlight! We love cooking, so having plenty of utensils and pans was perfect. Bedrooms were simple with wardrobes, though lacking drawers and some extra storage wouldve been handy. Our three-bed was cosy, with comfy mattresses and honestly, it was the best sleep weve had in ages!"
Emma - Mar 2025
"Caravan extra wide very spacious . Modern with fridge freezer all beds made for arrival. The shower was a good size and very powerful it was lovely. Plenty of utensils pans etc. We do lots of cooking.! Bedrooms basic with wardrobe in each . No drawers in the bedrooms could do with more storage but rooms compact. Ours was a three bedroom (1 double and 2 x 2 bedrooms. All the beds were very comfy good mattresses! Best sleep we all had for ages!"
Lesley - Mar 2025
"Our Cayton Bay review: We had a really lovely stay at this cosy place, tucked away in such a peaceful spot. The owners were super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed without intruding on our privacy. The hot tub was a real treat after a long day of cycling. Just a heads up, the cottage is right under Stansted's flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much once we got used to it, but its worth knowing if youre sensitive to noise. Overall, a great find!"
Raj - Mar 2025
"Overall, we had a really nice stay. The place was clean and the staff were friendly. The only downside was the limited number of comfy chairs-just four for eight people. Still, the food was consistently tasty and served in generous portions, which we appreciated!"
David - Mar 2025
"We stayed at this place during a rainy December and it was just perfect! The house was surprisingly well equipped and so cosy and warm, which was much appreciated. The bath was fantastic and the shower was big enough to enjoy properly. Being on a flight path didnt bother us at all and its in a quiet spot ideal for dogs that hate fireworks. Really loved the conversion too-thanks so much!"
Isla - Jan 2025
"We had such a lovely stay! The place was spotless, super cosy and the hot tub was a real highlight."
Amelia - Dec 2024
"The owners are genuinely lovely and really went above and beyond when the storm knocked out the power. The cottage was spotless, warm and well-equipped. Our dog loved the secure garden while we relaxed in the hot tub!"
Laura - Dec 2024
"We loved our stay here! Sharon and Robert really go above and beyond to make everything perfect. Its such a cosy spot and even though we've been before, well definitely return again soon. Highly recommend it!"
Emily - Dec 2024
"We stayed at this place during a rainy December and honestly, it was perfect. The house had everything we needed and was really cosy and warm - a real bonus on cold days. The bath was fantastic and the shower was nice and big. Its true, its near a flight path, but we barely noticed. Plus, its a dream spot for dogs that dislike fireworks, all in the middle of nowhere. Thanks so much!"
Harper - Dec 2024
"Everything excellent however would have been nice to have a washing machine (this is not a flaw but would be a nice to have as this is what we would usually have on our caravan vacations) very comfortable"
Lisa - Oct 2024
"Really happy with our stay, everything was spot on!"
Tom and Sarah - Oct 2024
"Absolutely loved our stay! The hosts really went above and beyond, making everything so comfortable. Will tell our friends for sure."
Benji - Oct 2024
"We really enjoyed our visit, the grounds are gorgeous and walking with the dogs was such a treat."
Riley - Sep 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay here. The place was super peaceful and spotless. Hosts were lovely, very helpful. The hot tub was a real highlight and the garden was perfect for our dog. Definitely recommend!"
Rachel - Sep 2024
"We had an amazing stay! The cottage was spotless, had all the essentials plus some thoughtful touches. Definitely recommend for a peaceful getaway!"
Jessie - May 2024
"We had a fantastic experience with this van! The kitchen was fully equipped, including a washing machine and dishwasher, making life so much easier. The internet connection was always reliable, never dropping out. The van itself was immaculate, smelling fresh and spotless inside, which made it a real pleasure to step into. Highly recommend for anyone looking for comfort and convenience on the road!"
James - May 2024
"We had a really lovely stay at this cosy spot tucked away in a peaceful setting. The owners were super friendly and always ready to help if we needed anything, but it still felt private and secluded. The hot tub was a real highlight after a long day cycling around. Just a heads up, the cottage is right under Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much once we got used to it, but might be worth considering if noise is a big deal for you. Overall, a great find!"
Rajiv - Apr 2024
"Overall, we had a really good stay in this caravan. Its got everything you need and more - honestly, we were surprised by how well stocked it was. The website doesnt really show all the extras, which is a shame because its a big selling point. There was a washing machine, hoover, ironing board, iron and even ottoman beds. Our caravan had a hot tub, which was lovely and the staff checked it daily. Only thing is, we couldnt find any instructions, so when we lifted the lid, it started losing heat pretty quickly. After about half an hour, it was down to 34 degrees and wouldnt warm back up until we closed the lid again. Weve never had a hot tub before, so were not sure if thats normal. The beds were decent, but new mattresses and protectors wouldve made it perfect. Still, overall, a really enjoyable experience!"
Harriet - Feb 2024
"The cottage was stunning, with a cosy log burner and a lovely hot tub. Hosts were really friendly and it was so peaceful! Can't wait to come back."
Olivia - Feb 2024
"We really enjoyed our stay; the place was lovely and spotlessly clean. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The only tiny issue was the gap in the window, but it didnt ruin our holiday at all!"
George - Jan 2024
"We had a really lovely time staying here! Sharon and Robert were such friendly hosts, making us feel right at home from the start. The place was spotlessly clean, comfy and perfect for Archie with all the security we could want. The location was fantastic, with loads of walks nearby and charming villages like Thaxted to explore. Honestly, we left feeling totally refreshed and relaxed-such a great getaway!"
Jessica - Dec 2023
"We had a fantastic time! The place was really well thought out and everything was spotless. The hosts were genuinely lovely and super helpful. Its a gorgeous spot - well definitely be coming back again soon!"
Jenna - Nov 2023
"We had a lovely stay at the lodge! The location was perfect and it was spotlessly clean overall. The pink chairs were a bit grubby when we got there and the cushions were missing, but they sorted it out quickly. No major complaints really!"
Sarah - Nov 2023
"We had a pretty good stay overall. The static caravan was spotless, well-equipped and perfectly situated next to a fantastic surf beach - ideal for catching waves. The onsite activities like the high ropes course and mini-golf were real highlights; we didn't get around to trying the archery or other sports, but they looked fun. The onsite restaurant was a let-down though - quite pricey and the food wasnt great, so we skipped it after the first meal. A heads up: they no longer provide towels in the caravans, so bring your own for the beach and showers. Luckily, there's a big Morrisons about 5 minutes drive for your shopping needs. And Scarboroughs just down the road - a lovely place to visit, whether for boat trips or grabbing a bite. All in all, a decent spot with some nice extras!"
Ellie Roberts - Nov 2023
"We spent a week at the end of August and honestly, we had a really lovely time. The caravan was pretty spacious and had everything we needed, although we did have to ask for a frying pan as it wasnt there initially. The staff sorted it out quickly, so no worries there. The site itself was nice, but the prices for food and drinks were quite steep, so we ended up going to a nearby pub that was much more reasonable. The activity deal for £30 for five activities was a real bargain, especially since high ropes cost £13 each - we managed five goes! All in all, it was a great break, but the pricey food and drinks mean we probably wont be coming back, which is a bit of a shame."
Jamie - Nov 2023
"We recently moved into this place and overall, its pretty comfy and new. The staff around are really friendly and make you feel welcome, which is a plus. That said, we did have to spend about ten minutes re-cleaning the floors ourselves because it didnt seem like the cleaners had done a thorough job before we moved in-nothing major, but worth noting if youve got little ones who love to play on the floor. Some of the facilities seem a bit delicate, so a gentle touch is best. Also, the text phone service was a bit disappointing, as no one replied to our questions, which could be frustrating in an emergency. Still, we enjoyed our stay!"
Claire Johnson - Nov 2023
"Absolutely loved our time at Goddards Mead! The cottage was spot on, comfy and perfect for a relaxing break. Well definitely be returning soon-cant recommend it enough! It truly exceeded our expectations in every way."
Tommy - Oct 2023
"The entertainment staff were awesome. They did the pirate pursuit despite the fact that it was only my three kids who were there. Big thanks to Matt and Mercedes for that. The activities staff were just as awesome. Particularly Tom and Neil. Tom for the sports and Neil for the high ropes and especially the Bear grylls survival academy which my son just loved every minute of. The Show bar at night was always very entertaining with Liam making every night funny without fail."
Steven - Aug 2022
"Nice place to stay. Caravan was clean and spacious"
Trevor - Jul 2022
"Lovely holiday park, we came here with our 7 children, aged 1,2,3,5,5 & 12 & 12 and there was something to keep all ages entertained. The elder ones loved the high ropes and were in the show bar every night. The indoor pool is great for all ages, especially good that they have a very shallow part for small children like we have. The only thing that would improve this holiday park would be an outside splash park!"
Danielle - Jul 2022
"The holiday was lovely, staff are very friendly and helpful, great with kids. Only downside is prices of the extra activities are steep (apart from high ropes as that is well worth the money) We never had a hoover in caravan so with 4 young kids it was a nightmare to tidy up after them, but we asked at reception and were given one so that was great. Also given a hairdryer on request as i had forgotten mine. We will definetly be back ?"
Amanda - Jul 2022
"We had the most amazing time, the caravan was very clean. The night time entertainment staff are absolutely fabulous! My 5 year old loved the kids disco/games. Everything on site is good value for money. The food is the restaurant is lovely and very reasonable."
Verified Guest - Jul 2022
"A great site with lots of facilities. Staff were very helpful. Our oven door had a problem and we called the out of hours number and it was fixed within 20mins! Highly recommended ?"
