South Lakeland Leisure Village Reviews

"Lovely lodge and a real homely feel. Clean and warm and perfect spot overlooking lake and next to facilies, bar etc"
Russell - Apr 2025
"Really enjoyed our stay, comfy lodge and everything we needed, cheers!"
Emma - Feb 2025
"Best holiday experience, totally recommend booking now!"
Sam - Oct 2024
"Honestly, our stay was a bit of a letdown. When we arrived, the place wasnt as clean as wed hoped-there were nail clippings lying around and hair in the bathroom that looked like it was from a previous guest. We also had to wash most of the pots ourselves because the glasses still had dirty water in them. We were pretty disappointed, especially since we had to check in late and leave early due to COVID cleaning rules, but even the visible stuff was missed. It was also really dusty with loads of cobwebs everywhere. We get staffings been tricky lately, but we couldnt even book a meal, which was frustrating. The bars hours from noon till nine felt a bit odd, especially since the site's pretty remote and theres nowhere nearby to get food without a trek. All in all, not what we expected, but hey, thats travel sometimes!"
Harriet - Sep 2024
"Our South Lakeland Leisure Village review: We stayed at this lodge recently and honestly, it was lovely! The living area and kitchen were perfect for relaxing and the kitchen had everything we needed. The bedrooms were a great size too. Definitely impressed with how nice it was!"
Emily Carter - Aug 2024
"The place was pretty nice overall, really clean when we arrived and the kitchen was well-stocked with good equipment. Only downside was the mattresses which were quite worn out and not very comfy, plus the pillows were pretty thin. Also, it would've been handy to have a coat or shoe rack, but otherwise, a decent stay!"
Mark - Jul 2024
"Overall, we had a good stay. The only thing that bugged us was the colour of the rug in the front room-cream, right by the French doors leading to the decking. Since its a pet-friendly place, after a few hours of wet paws walking all over it, we ended up rolling it up out of sight for the rest of the week. Not a big deal but worth mentioning!"
Rebecca - May 2024
"The lodge was really modern and comfy, with a lovely lakeside view. We enjoyed the fishing jetty and took advantage of the pool and gym, even if just once. Nice stay!"
Alexandra - Mar 2024
"We recently stayed in a 'Bronze' lodge and honestly, it was quite lovely and super clean, fully kitted out with everything we needed. The location was pretty peaceful, even if a bit out of the way, but thats what we expected. The main issue we had was with the outdoor decking. It was clearly rotten and should have been replaced before anyone arrived - quite dangerous really. The furniture on the balcony looked pretty battered too. We tried to steer clear of the worst bits, but I still managed to fall through one of the holes in my chair one evening and hurt my back! We didnt make a fuss about it at the time, but honestly, it shouldve been sorted beforeh and. The reception team was really quick to respond and a maintenance guy was there in no time to check it out. Unfortunately, they couldnt fix it before we left and they did offer to move us, but with only a day left, it wasnt really worth the hassle. As for the Waters Edge Restaurant, we found the staff seemed a bit unsure of what they were doing - not quite the level of service we expected. The food was pretty average for what you pay, so we only ate there once during our week. On the plus side, its a cracking spot to grab a drink in the evening, overlooking the lake. Overall, we had a good time, despite a few hiccups with the decking. Would definitely return, just maybe check the outdoor areas first!"
Charlotte - Jun 2023
"The lodge was stunning, really loved the cosy vibe. When we arrived, the only thing was the windows needed a quick wipe - understandable with all the wildlife around. Didnt mind at all!"
Oliver - Aug 2020
"The Gold 2 room was really nice, we enjoyed it a lot!"
James - Nov 2019
"Really enjoyed our stay, highly recommend!"
Claire - Sep 2017
"Great location, cosy lodges, loved it!"
Clara Hughes - Oct 2016
"Really enjoyed our stay! The lodge was spotless and super comfy, with a lovely lakeside view."
Charlie - Aug 2015
"Some small issues, but overall it wasnt too bad at all."
David - Apr 2015
"We noticed dead flies in the light fittings which was a bit nasty, but other than that, everything was fantastic!"
Jake - Nov 2014
"The lodge was really top-notch! It was definitely the best place weve ever stayed in. We loved every moment of it. Definitely recommend it to others!"
Tom - Aug 2014
"The cabin was of an excellent standard. It was super clean and had a really high standard of fixtures and fittings!"
Maggie - Aug 2014
"We really loved our stay overall! The only issue we had was with the amenities, which could do with a bit of attention. Everything else was just great, but we felt that the amenities were a bit lacklustre. We would recommend it, but hope theyll improve in that area!"
Jill - Aug 2014
"A clothes horse or washing line would be useful! It feels like a bit of a miss to not have these options available. We always need somewhere to dry our laundry and this seems like a basic thing to include. Would really make a difference!"
Hannah - Jul 2014
"We have already booked the same accommodation for next year! It was just that great, honestly! The location was perfect and everything we needed was right there. Can't wait to go back!"
Lucy - Jul 2014
"We didn't actually stay at the Lakel and country home due to a mix-up with our booking and the lodge had been taken off the system after we booked. However, the alternative lodge was truly wonderful!"
Sarah - Jul 2014
"We had a great experience! Everything was right on point and we honestly can't think of anything to complain about. The service was top-notch and the atmosphere was just what we needed for a lovely day out! Really impressed overall!"
Jamie - Dec 2013
"Very quiet peaceful site, unfortunately the restaurant cannot run at capacity due to staffing shortages, so limited menu. Very relaxing and a good base for the lakes etc."
Sara - Aug 2022
"We were very impressed with the facilities at South Lake Land leisure Village and will be returning"
Victoria - Jul 2022
"Nice lodges with ple ty of outdoor space, onsite restaurant was nice and reasonably priced, no onsite shop but 5min drive away from local centre with shops, pubs and restaurants, lovely pool although shallow."
Bethany - Jul 2022
"Lovely setting on the edge of the Lake District and Yorkshire dales. From our lodge we did have a view of the lake and was in a quiet setting. On some parts of the site, there was traffic noise. Swimming pool, gym and restaurant onsite as well."
Robert - Jun 2022
"Visited here for years and keep returning. Love it and always return. Setting and facilities fantastic"
Claire - Jun 2022
"We had a wonderful 3 nights in Gressingham 40. It was so quiet and clean. Park facilities were excellent. The lake is beautiful. Special thanks to Matt in the Fitness Centre for being brilliant. Made to feel like part of the family. We will be back."
Debra - Jun 2022
"Great location for visiting morecambe, the lakes and the dales . Restaurant was fantastic."
Leigh - Apr 2022
"Cabin was great, excellent location. Would definitely go back. Would of liked the bar and restaurant to be open longer as it closed at 8 or 9pm. I can’t rate the food on site, we didn’t eat there."
Janette - Mar 2022
"Excellent weekend, lodge was beautiful would highly recommend"
Jane - Mar 2022
"Every thing about our stay was excellent"

Some of the most threatened species are kept at the park as part if international breeding programmes.  Check out their website for the latest opening times and admission costs which are great value for money.  There are discounts for pre-booked parties of 12 or more.

Happy Mount Park has attractions for the whole family including several play areas, a miniature railway, crazy golf, putting green and trampolines, there is also a paddling pool where the little ones can splash around in the summer and a café where the adults can relax with a drink. During the summer months and especially during school holidays live music can often be enjoyed.

Head for the Bowland Wild Boar park and we don't think you will be disappointed.  A popular attraction in Preston there is so much to do for the whole family.  From picnics, walks and wildlife to experiencing feeding the animals you are sure to have a memorable day out.  Also popular is the kids tractor play area.  For rest and relaxation the cafe is ideal serving hot drinks and snacks with a lovely view over the pond and wildlife feeding station.  The Forest of Bowland has been declared an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This is an amazing Cumbria attraction well known locally as well as nationally for how close you can get to the animals.  Described as the most interactive animal park in Europe it's well worth a visit if you are staying in the area.  Open from April to end October some of the highlights are the tigers, penguins, bears, hippos and rhinos.  At 2pm during certain seasons it's feeding time so don't forget to plan your day around this so you can watch the animals enjoying their feed.  Look out for seasonal events such as Halloween Zoo Boo (free entry for kids in fancy dress) and The Magic of Christmas.
