"Overall, we loved our time at Ruthven Falls and are definitely considering booking again - we love coming to Scotland and, for us, this was the perfect base from which to explore.The Lodge was easily spacious enough for our family of five with two dogs, it was really well appointed with equipment, everything worked perfectly and was sparklingly clean when we arrived. The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly always happy to have a chat and give some tips on things to do and always accommodating to requests. The location was just what we wanted - off the beaten track, tranquil, pond with fountains creating the relaxing back-drop of running water, lovely scenery, walks nearby and you even arranged a heat-wave - thanks! The hot tub was a particular highlight for those of us who like that sort of thing - they could really sit back and relax in there whilst getting a tan or counting stars. For those of us who were not 'hot tub people' we had comfortable seating to use beside it anyway so we could all be together. Within a relatively short drive there was plenty to do, towns and villages to visit, castles to see, distilleries to be toured, wildlife to observe, walks to be had and other outdoor adventures to be undertaken. My only tip for others would be to make sure you book things ahead of time - we got caught out a couple of times."

"I use lots of holiday lodges as I have dogs. This has been the nicest one I have been in. Got everything you need!!! The extras was a great idea. Bag for the dogs. Breakfast pack eggs bread and milk. Biscuits. Plenty towels. Robes. Everything you need and the kitchen apart from oven gloves as I burnt my finger. Nothing drastic!!! The places was spotless. Beds comfortable. Loved it!!"

"We stayed at this place during a rainy December and it was perfect for us. The house is really well kitted out and super cosy - it kept us warm and comfy all day. The bath was just lovely and the big shower was a bonus. Being near a flight path didnt bother us at all and its ideal if your dog hates fireworks since its so remote. Thanks a lot for a lovely stay!"

"We stayed here for a week in July with our two small dogs and honestly, it was a lovely experience. The cottage itself is charming and the hot tub was a real highlight-especially since we hit some of the hottest days of the year, so having a cool dip was just perfect. The hosts were really friendly and made us feel welcome, which was nice. Watching the planes land near Stansted was quite fun too, even if we're on the flight path. Overall, wed definitely recommend for a relaxing getaway!"

"We had a lovely stay at this place, nestled in such a peaceful, private spot. The owners were genuinely friendly and always ready to help if needed, but it still felt like we had our own space. The hot tub was a real treat after a day out cycling - such a nice touch! A heads up though: the cottage is right under Stansteds flight path, so theres quite a bit of aircraft noise. It didnt bother us much after a while, but its worth mentioning if youre sensitive to noise. Overall, a great find!"

"We decided to spend our first Christmas away from home here and honestly, it was lovely. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The lodge was spotless, well-equipped and had a comfy hot tub that was checked daily-so relaxing! The grounds were beautifully maintained, peaceful and perfect for a stroll by the river. Also, having EV chargers on all lodges was a big plus. We loved it and will definitely return!"

"We had a really lovely time staying here! Sharon and Robert are fantastic hosts who made us feel right at home from the start. The place was spotlessly clean, cosy and felt safe for our dog Archie, which was important. The location is perfect, with plenty of walks nearby and Thaxted and the surrounding villages are charming to explore. Honestly, we left feeling refreshed and relaxed - it was just what we needed!"

"We found the site pretty quiet, which suited us just fine. Last year, there was always a manager around 24/7 to handle security and any issues, but this time, we didnt see anyone. The two groundsmen were really friendly and willing to help us out with a couple of minor problems, which was great. The hot tub was out of action the first night because it hadnt heated up enough, probably because it wasnt turned on early enough. Our lodge was comfy overall, but there were a few maintenance niggles and some broken crockery. We did notice a lot of dead flies on the lounge floor when we arrived, but tidied them up ourselves, so no worries there. One thing to mention is that Lodge 4 has zero kitchen storage, unlike last years Lodge 36, which was fantastic. Were not sure wed come back just yet, mainly because we think having a manager on site for any issues would make a big difference. Still, gotta say, the groundsmen are fab-too much responsibility seems to be unfairly placed on them."

"From the moment we arrived, we felt really welcomed and our lodge was all set up for us. Our host went through everything and even left us a nice breakfast pack plus some biscuits, which was a lovely little touch. The lodge itself was super cosy and well-equipped - everything we needed in the kitchen and the bed was really comfy. We enjoyed the river walk and the play area, which was perfect for our family and our dog. The only hiccup was the hot tub not working initially, but they got it sorted the next morning, so no big deal. Honestly, wed happily come back for sure. 5 stars!"

"We spent a week over New Year at this place and honestly, it was pretty lovely. The lodge was just the right size for our group of six adults plus our little Jack Russell-plenty of space and well equipped, with things like a dishwasher and washing machine which made things so much easier. We loved using the hot tub every day; a staff member kept it spotless each morning, which our dog found hilarious! Only small gripe was the outside lighting on the steps - it was dark so early, around 3pm, making it tricky to see when taking the dog out in winter. The site itself was peaceful, well-kept and all the staff were super friendly and welcoming. Wed definitely return!"

"We recently enjoyed a really peaceful stay in our lodge, complete with a hot tub which was a real highlight! The lodge itself was spotless and the grounds were well-maintained. When we arrived, the reception staff made us feel welcome and guided us straight to our cabin. Inside, there was milk, bread and a cooked breakfast pack with eggs in the fridge - plus tea, coffee, biscuits and a cute little treat for our dog. Wed definitely recommend staying here - its just lovely!"

"We really think owning transport is essential here. The location is perfect for outdoor lovers and families, being quite secluded yet central enough. The site is expanding, with around 15 units now and more groundworks ready behind a secure fence. The lodges are brand new, equipped with all modern comforts-hot tubs, comfy furniture on spacious verandas-youd struggle to find any faults with the accommodation or facilities. Within minutes, you can walk to the river Isla and enjoy a 1.5-mile stroll along its quiet banks, plus there's fishing in season for trout, grayling and salmon. Nearby towns like Alyth and Blairgowrie offer golf courses and further afield, youve got Dundee, Dunkeld, Perth and others for exploring. Honestly, four nights isnt enough to see everything! No complaints from our group at all, just a lovely stay."

"We just got back from a really nice four-night stay at this cottage. The owners were super friendly and helpful, but they didnt overstep at all. The big fenced garden was perfect for our dog to run around freely. The place had everything we needed, including a BBQ one evening. The hot tub was fantastic!
