Springhouse Country Park has a fantastic rural setting just a stones throw from Hadrian's Wall.  Springhouse Country Park is a small and friendly holiday park offering a superb base from which to explore the region. The park is home to a superb array of wildlife and you can discover many walking paths and nature trails through the beautiful Slaley Forest and the local countryside right on your doorstep.

Close by the market town of Hexham with its ancient Abbey dating back to 674AD is well worth a visit. Northumberland National Park and the breathtaking North East coastline are also within easy reach and offer an excellent range of outdoor activities.

Springhouse Country Park offers accommodation in a range of caravans including the basic but comfortable Slaley which has either two or three bedrooms. The Hexham are more luxurious and larger offering spacious accommodation. Hadrian's Cottage is also available and is a good choice for groups. We had a great weekend at Springwood. Our doughter is 3 and it was really nice for her to toddle around the site, chase the birds and play with the other kids. Everyone there very friendly , lots of owned caravans so a sense of community. Nice and close so ideal for a short weekend break.

My low score for cleanliness is there was dog hairs on both settees but on the underside of the cushion seats, there are no pets allowed in the Derwent lodge.

Good well managed site and mobile home, very clean and tidy and easy to get to Hexham. However the mobile would benefit from more attention to detail on the equipment provided inside the home. Only one waste paper bin for the whole unit wholly inadequate, no toilet brushes or mini bins in bathrooms. Lack of cleaning equipment like no dustpan and brush or mops and buckets. Poor lighting in bedrooms, impossible to read in bed no bedside lights. Also no beer glasses, who can be in Northumberland minus beer glasses! Having used mobile homes all over France and the UK we have a permanent camping box with back up equipment in so no big problem for us knowing how many useful items can be lacking, but dustpan and brush isn't included. Also net curtains would be useful at the main lounge window, a lot of time it felt we were living in goldfish bowl and everyone could see directly in. Attention needs to be given to the main site entrance, so many pothole to avoid this detracted from the very nice entrance, but I have experienced much worse along the way but it needs fixing. We would use the site again and would recommend to friends with the above mentioned, just a bit more thought needed along the way to improve certain bits, but for us good value for money.

I suppose a bigger TV would have been nice to have, but then again we may have stayed in and watched more, instead of being out and about

Really enjoyed the peace and quiet of the site. The wildlife of free roaming rabbits was fabulous all around the caravans. Very friendly and helpful staff, wonderful restaurant and a lounge area to relax in with films to borrow and games to play.

Wonderful! Really spacious and clean. Came complete with dishwasher and washing machine. The double bedroom had an ensure and there was also a separate shower with toilet. Could not find fault with anything. A nice extra touch was the provision of towels and toothpaste, as well as a small shower gel, washing up liquid and tea towel. Thank you for this!

Heating was switched on prior to our arrival, we even had a radiator in the bedroom, so it was nice and cozy. Complimentary tea and biscuits, tea towels and washing-up liquid. The park is quiet, in a very rural location, which suited us fine. We had our dogs with us and there were plenty of possibilities for nice walks. Lots of wildlife and birds. Park environment is very well cared for.

We are a large family and we stay at Slaley every year as my parents live nearby.we travel up from London. The park is in the middle of nowhere but as we use it as a base it doesn't really matter.lots of wildlife nearby, very peaceful and nice friendly staff on site.
There's a park for the children to play and all your basic needs are met within the caravan, bedding, towels, dishcloths, crockery, cutlery and even loo roll..There was even complimentary tea, coffee, mini biscuit and chocolate selection this year. Well done spring house at Slaley. .hope to see you next year.

The site and staff who we had contact with were superb. We chose the park because we wanted a quiet 'away from it all' holiday, which is what we got. A lovely park in a beautiful location. The little touches which were there helped to make it a really good stay. Thanks Springhouse Country Park - we'll be back.

Wonderful lodge our 2 year old called it her treehouse and was very excited and slept very well each night. Good selection of childrens books and dvds. Very comfy beds. Well equipped fantastic kitchen. The lodge is far better than it looks on the pictures. Fabulous location for walking with pram and bike rides. Couple of minutes walk to small park and local pub which welcomes children good food and prices. Owners very welcoming and friendly.

We had a lovely 4 nights at this peaceful park. It is fairly remote, which is clearly stated when booking, but we saw this as a positive, and it's only 5 miles to both Hexham and Corbridge. Nice walk through the forest directly from the site too, and the kids enjoyed watching the birds and also the farmer in his tractor! Accommodation wise, it was very clean and of a very good standard and condition, and had everything we needed too. Would definitely look to return to this park and the lovely area that surrounds it.

Date of stay: 27th June 2014
Lovely location, really helpful staff and a really nice caravan. Walks in the woods without driving, seeing deer, owls etc, brilliant !
The only thing that lets the location down is that the roads approaching the camp site are very potholed. To be clear I do not mean the private road but the council ones!

Lovely clean caravan on a quiet secluded park. Excellent value for money. Mattresses were a bit cheap, as you could feel every spring, but this didn't stop me having a relatively good nights sleep, and for the money wouldn't stop me going back again. Very helpful staff and well kitted out shop with non perishables. Caravan was lovely and spacious.
Alina, Thornton-cleveleys

Date of stay: 2nd June 2014
We have used this park ,a few times as a base ,when visiting my parents in Northumberland .Its very quiet and not much in the way of shops in the immediate area, but ideal if you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Hexham is nearby with a variety of shops etc. on site the staff are very helpful, accommodating and pleasant . There's a playground for the children and great places surrounding the park for country walks.Towels, duvets, sheets and crockery are provided.
Lauren
Date of stay: 19th May 2014
Very peaceful quiet holiday for my husband and I. Still close enough to hexham for short journeys out for essentials. Beautiful town, great site, could only say two negatives, no small shop on site (again, town is very close so didn't really bother us) and mattress isn't the comfiest........but neither are any other caravan mattresses!! :) overall a fantastic relaxing weekend away!
Alison, Glasgow
Date of stay: 12th May 2014

A really lovely spot, in easy reach of places to visit but with a real sense of being away from it all. A very comfortable caravan, with central heating very effective (and welcome!). Site small but well kept.
Jennifer
We really recommend the site for a quiet break. The caravan was very clean, site well maintained and other holiday makers very friendly and polite. Dog friendly!
Harry
Very peaceful and pleasant location, definitely recommend for a happy holidays!!
Ryan
Excellent location, immaculate and modern caravan. Excellent value for money!
Joseph
Lovely site well located. Only complaint would be the increase in price as we booked over the half term holidays.
Rose
Well equipped caravan, home from Home. The best equipped we have ever had.
Peter
Stayed 4 nights.Caravan was excellent with everything required including central heating and double glazing. The site is very well kept, the location is a short drive to Hexham and Corbridge. Ideal location for walkers. Only one suggestion, a map of the forest walking trails for those who forget to bring their Ordnance Survey maps!! I would recommend this site to those wanting a quiet, peaceful holiday but a short drive to lovely local towns.
Gillian
The location as we were informed in the confirmation of our booking, was indeed very remote. But it was the most relaxing of holidays we've ever had. The accommodation Derwent 3 lodge was beautiful, exceptionally clean and lovely to spend our holiday in
Sarah
If you're looking for a quiet relaxing holiday this is the perfect place with friendly staff and great views this is the perfect place can't wait to go back again

Fun Days Out near All

about 10 Miles
Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.
about 26 Miles
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
about 29 Miles
Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.
about 34 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
about 38 Miles
Alnwick Castle and Gardens today are perhaps best known for their roles as Hogwarts in Harry Potter movies but have for many years been a family favourite attraction in Northumberland. The beautiful medieval castle is open to the public and during school holidays and at Christmas and Halloween a range of activities can be enjoyed including Santa's Workshop, a Pumpkin Parade, Spell Making Lessons and Owl and Bird of Prey Flying.
