About Kielder Waterside

The stunning and multiple award-winning Kielder Waterside which sits within our exclusive new ‘Magnificent’ collection offers one of the very best shorelines of the largest man-made lakes in northern Europe and provides you with the opportunity to relax under the darkest skies in England whilst enjoying the tranquil setting of your chosen accommodation.

This amazing location offers so much that you’ll never be short of something to do. From taking the opportunity to relax and unwind by cosying up in one of the traditional log cabins near the lake to surrounding yourself with nature in one of the modern luxury lodges situated in the heart of the forest, accommodation to suit all, whether you’re a couple, friends, families with children or if you have pets this is just the start of your ‘Magnificent’ Kielder adventure!

For those seeking a bit of action there is a range of activities you can try such as following the mountain bike trail (bike hire available) or try your hand at a variety of target and water sports, you can even have a go on the Segways which are great fun! For more of a relaxing break why don’t you try out the collection of spa treatments, enjoy the steam room and sauna or just take a leisurely stroll along one of the nature trails. You could even spend your day on 2,000 acres of water with a hired fishing boat and rod. Kids also have an abundance of choice and can enjoy the mini and disc golf or join in on the junior activities for 3–7-year-olds. There is a games room and children’s adventure play to keep them busy for the duration of their holiday, what more could a parent ask for!

When it’s family time you can all head across to the Bird of Prey centre and watch live flying experiences with over 60 birds, or you can all relax together and enjoy a meal in The Forest Bar & kitchen, a superb family orientated gastro pub which is a must!

Throughout the year Northumberland and Kielder have multiple events so keep an eye out for those but the area itself offers a great opportunity to discover and explore amazing landscapes such as the National Park and Hadrian’s Wall, as well as historic sites including castles and abbeys which hug the Scottish Borders. If you’ve not been to Newcastle, you should take the hour’s drive and experience the wonderful architecture, culture and renowned nightlife, it’s certainly somewhere that will stay long in the memory.

If you are looking for a family holiday that provides the wow factor, fills you with joy, makes you smile and will leave you with lifelong happy memories then there is no better experience than Kielder Waterside, well it is ‘Magnificent’

Kielder Waterside Reviews

"Honestly, we had a fantastic stay overall. The cabin was lovely and we really appreciated the thoughtful touches like the Elemis products - definitely a nice touch that you usually only find in high-end hotels. The location was perfect, peaceful but still close enough to explore. The staff at reception, the site and the bird of prey team were all super friendly and helpful, making us feel really welcomed. The only tiny hiccup was the double bed being a bit close to the wall on one side, which made it tricky for my husband to swing his legs out. Other than that, no complaints at all! We had a great time and will definitely be coming back."
Emily & Jack Turner - Apr 2025
"We booked quite late, so options were limited. The lodge was nice overall, but the main bedroom was tiny and you can only leave the bed from one side, which was a bit awkward. The electric shower lacked pressure and was tricky to get the temperature right. On the plus side, the hot tub was fantastic as usual and the view was lovely. It was an okay stay, really."
Sarah - Mar 2025
"The lodge was a bit smaller than what we're used to, but super cosy and spotless. Everything we needed, from cutlery to glasses, was there. Perfect for a chilled out break!"
Emma - Mar 2025
"Comfortable stay, would recommend it."
Martin - Mar 2025
"Our Kielder Waterside review: We had such a lovely time at Kielder, we can't wait to return!"
Oliver - Mar 2025
"The cabin was really lovely and the hot tub was fantastic! It was spotless and well-maintained, though you could tell its been used quite a bit-understandable since its the pet-friendly option. We had a great time!"
Sam - Feb 2025
"We stayed at the lodge recently and honestly, it was quite lovely and roomy. The heating was effective, though adjusting it was a bit tricky since there were no instructions. The spa bath was out of order when we arrived, but it didnt ruin our stay. The real issue was the lack of a plug socket in one bedroom, making it tough for the kids monitor and night light. Overall, though, we thought the place was really nice!"
Rachel - Feb 2025
"The chalets were really lovely and felt super cosy. We loved how close the 24-hour reception was and the bar/restaurant was a nice touch. Great stay!"
Alex - Feb 2025
"The lodge offers stunning views and the kitchen is really well equipped. Might be a little tight for six adults, but perfect for four of us."
Isla - Jan 2025
"We had a great time! The staff were really friendly and attentive. The hot tub was a hit with the kids and the scenic views made it even better. Highly recommend!"
David - Dec 2024
"Absolutely loved every moment of it!"
Mark - Nov 2024
"We recently spent a lovely few days at Lakeside Park and really enjoyed it. The location is fantastic, with plenty to do for everyone. We chose the lodge because its advertised as accessible, but honestly, it didnt quite meet all our needs. The furniture and fittings are lovely and comfy, but the bathroom was missing grab rails, which was a bit of a letdown. Also, adding a couple of wingback chairs instead of one of the sofas would make it even better. Still, overall, a great stay!"
Ellie Carter - Oct 2024
"Great stay, would recommend"
Charlotte - Oct 2024
"Overall, we found the place pretty decent. The rooms were spacious and comfy, especially the bathroom and en-suite. The kitchen and dining area were a real plus. However, we did notice some issues like a large water pool by the hot tub and no soap at arrival. The main bed was a bit noisy but still comfy."
George - Aug 2024
"Great spot, we keep coming back! Definitely recommend."
Mike Turner - Apr 2024
"Very cosy place, had all we needed and more! Lovely!"
Ella Roberts - Apr 2024
"Great for those who enjoy a good walk"
Louise and Tom with Bella - Apr 2024
"The place was spacious and really comfy, which we loved. The hot tub was definitely a highlight! Only thing was the frying pan was a bit rubbish and that tiny wooden spatula didnt help with breakfast. Could do with a better pan or wok, honestly."
Matt - Mar 2024
"The lodge was pretty nice, though we swapped to single beds-they just werent comfy enough. Kitchen was well equipped, which was great!"
Jessica - Mar 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, will return soon!"
Caroline - Mar 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay, stunning views and lovely lodge. Just a heads up, dishwasher needs fixing."
Linda - Mar 2024
"The place was charming, though some of the kitchen units and tiles felt a bit outdated. Still, a lovely spot to stay for a few nights!"
Laura - Feb 2024
"Really enjoyed our stay! The lodge was comfy, well-equipped and perfect for relaxing after a day out."
Claire - Nov 2023
"We spent ages cleaning out the barbeque shelter when we arrived; it was absolutely grim! The instructions for lighting the BBQ are pretty rubbish though - they say to open all the windows and leave the door wide open and you'll have a fire in 30 minutes. Honestly, whoever wrote that has no clue about lighting a real fire. We found that closing all the windows and door, then cranking up the extractor fan worked way better and the fire was ready in about 10 minutes. Plus, it kept the smoke and ash from blowing everywhere. Its just common sense, really. Still, we got there in the end!"

Kielder Water Bird of Prey Centre - NE48 1BT
about 0 Miles
Housing the most fascinating collection of Birds of Prey in the North East this centre is definitely worth a visit if you are staying in the Kielder Water area. Located in Falstone it's easy to get to and makes a great day out for both families and couples.  As well as seeing the amazing birds you can learn all about the captive breeding programme and the excellent work being done there.  Some of the highlights of the day might include watching a Falcon stoop down from the skies at over 100mph and admiring the grace of the Eagles, Kites and Hawks.
Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery - CA3 8TP
about 25 Miles
This is a museum and art gallery in one and will suit those looking for an educational and cultural day out.  You can explore the fantastic art collection including Fine Art, Decorative Art and Textiles.  If you love nature then this aspect of Tullie House will appeal. The museum holds large and important collections of zoological, botanical and geological material. And for lovers of history there is plenty to wet your appetite here. Tullie House collects a wide range of historic materials including objects, ephemera (printed material), photographs and associated information files.  We think this museum and art gallery are excellent value for money as well.
Go Ape Northumberland - NE48 1NT

Go Ape! has really taken off and become one of the most popular attractions in the UK.  The Northumberland course is set in the stunning grounds of Matfin Hall.  Described as a high wire forest adventure this really is one for the more daring as the course takes place right up in the tree tops.  Giant tree top obstacle courses include ladders, bridges, tunnels and some of the country's best zip lines.  You will be provided with all safety equipment and training on site.

Cragside House and Gardens (National Trust) are a popular Northumberland attraction with a beautiful stately home and gorgeous grounds to explore. The rhododendron labyrinth is a unique and fun addition to the grounds and there is also an adventure playground where children can let of steam. It is the stunning scenery that attracts most of the visitors though with many bringing a picnic for a relaxing family day out. The house itself hosts exhibits which change regularly. World of the Water Wizard is currently on display.

Alnwick Castle and Gardens today are perhaps best known for their roles as Hogwarts in Harry Potter movies but have for many years been a family favourite attraction in Northumberland. The gardens are a peaceful and colourful place to spend the day with a wide variety of flora and fauna on display. Other attractions here include live viewing of the Tweed Valley ospreys, a Gift Shop where children can pick up a souvenir, a Tearoom serving tasty local produce and home cooked meals, a Children's Corner, Putting Green, and a gorgeous private 2½ mile stretch on the River Tweed where visitors can enjoy Fly Fishing and a Picnic Area.
